If you analyze it I believe the very heart and soul of conservatism is libertarianism. I think conservatism is really a misnomer just as liberalism is a misnomer for the liberals–if we were back in the days of the Revolution, so-called conservatives today would be the Liberals and the liberals would be the Tories. The basis of conservatism is a desire for less government interference or less centralized authority or more individual freedom and this is a pretty general description also of what libertarianism is.

Now, I can’t say that I will agree with all the things that the present group who call themselves Libertarians in the sense of a party say, because I think that like in any political movement there are shades, and there are libertarians who are almost over at the point of wanting no government at all or anarchy. I believe there are legitimate government functions. There is a legitimate need in an orderly society for some government to maintain freedom or we will have tyranny by individuals. The strongest man on the block will run the neighborhood. We have government to insure that we don’t each one of us have to carry a club to defend ourselves. But again, I stand on my statement that I think that libertarianism and conservatism are travelling the same path.

I got banned because I wrote a post in favor of Ron Paul? Did you ban the guy who wrote a post in favor of Mark Sanford too? Mark Sanford and Ron Paul are almost one and the same. If youre banning me over tihs post then I think you are in error, or think Im here to cause some sort of fight, which Im not. Perhaps if you go through my few several posts, you'll realize Im here for honest, intelligent discussion. Nothing more. Nothing less.

that guy biblvr (whatever) is nuts.. In the same breath he supports the founding fathers but then goes on to endorse social conservatism and interventionism..

I pointed out to him, that one needs BIG govt to do those things...

I made one post with the youtube about how Reagan is just like Ron Paul and was banned within minutes before I could post again. LOL

When you have to exclude people as opposed to trying to win them over to your side, then you have no chance - and they don't.

They are doing exactly what has destroyed the GOP - making it a club with a very small tent that must agree exactly with their narrow views. Until the GOP can learn to accept people with differing views within the general theme of the party, it has no chance.

Also, as I stated to the Admin in my "you have been banned" reply, by banning other view points the members are limiting the possiblity of improving the presentation of their arguements to others.
