I think there is a serious misconception of the MLK moneybomb.
This event was originally conceived to be a massive donation from every Ron Paul supporter in the country. The amount of money was not the issue (hence the symbolic $10), but the amount of donors. It was supposed to be hundreds of thousands (maybe millions?) of supporters giving a very small amount, to show our numbers.

But now things have changed, and the number of pledges does not reflect the amount of supporters. So now many here have assumed that the pledges are for $100, like previous moneybombs.

They are not. Unless the organizers state otherwise, those 8,500 pledges are for $10 dollars only. That is $85,000 pledged. Not 4 or 5 million like some are saying.

If the pledges are supposed to be for $100, then the official site should say so.

Otherwise, we will end up with a regular small moneybomb of $350,000 like the one we had on newyears eve.

I am a donor whether I give 10 or 2300, so whats it to you? :)

With the timing, the MLK one has to be the big high roller money bomb of the month. There was Nov 5, Dec 16, now Jan 21. "Money bombs" cant be effective if you have one every other day. We also need the money before Super Tuesday. There also hasnt been a big money day since December 31st. We need the 21st to be huge.

Spam the world people!! Need to get the word out to the Meetups. I think i was the first to post it for my meetup and I did it yesterday!

much worrying over nothing... People will donate what they will donate regardless...
OK, I was just reminding everyone that the donations will be low, because they were asked to be low.
There are people claiming this will be a 2 million dollar day, or more. It won't.

There is no way we will get more than $400,000 with the current pledges, and amount pledged. Only the regular people will donate, and our regular moneybombs are around $350,000 (Such as Nov 30, and Dec 31).

any way of getting in touch with most of those who've already voted in a primary and ask them to sign up....I mean how many votes have we tallied up so far ~80,000? Even if only half of them donate the minimum $10 that's still $400,000.

$100 here, and a few folks in my e-mail network will be fisrt time...and they are reaching out.

;)

Free at last!

i'm donating 100 dollars, i did not pledge for the other two money bombs but i donated anyway. I know lots of people who don't bother with the pledge form. it's a pain in the ass.

i did however pledge this time just to show my support

Yes, I think that the pledges / donation ratio will be lower this time.

In the previous money bombs many didn't pledge, and donated.
This time around I have the feeling that the opposite will happen. Case in point, the Benjamin's moneybomb, that had some 500 pledges, and so far nobody has donated more than usual.

Remember also that people here at the forums are not the regular Ron Paul supporter. People that pledged $10, are likely to donate $10.

In the teaparty, many here donated way more than $100, yet the final average donation was $103.

I disagree. Just take a look at the free at last poll thread. The majority of Donors said they would donate over 100 dollars with many willing to max out.

That may be true for supporters on this forum (which are more hardcore). But I would guess the majority of the donations will be around $10 as the website suggested.

Thats a fair assessment, I guess we find out in the next 4 days.

My whole family is doing it, each donating the amount they can afford. I pledged on the website but my pleadge really is for my entire family, I will get them to donate on that day. They don't like using the computer much.

I am really worried about this money bomb. There are not enough people pledging like they did the other two. It was a huge mistake to only ask for $10.

After the first primary they should have changed it to $100.

I am worried about what the media is oging to say if we don't do as well as our other money bombs. I can sure guess what they will say.

So many people have gotten discouraged. I just wonder if that is going to affect the donation.

I don't want it to.
I have been working my @#$ off like crazy going to different states and canvassing, phone banking and working in my own precicnt doing the same things as well as going to all the meetup group events and helping there. I mean, I just can't do anymore than I already am. I want more than anything for Ron Paul to have a good donation day and I want him to win. Will it happen? I don't know.
