Liberty Chick Blackwell doesn't contest the descriptions but repeats he wants to make a sweeping statement and then go back and reach consensus on individual changes.

NC per tweets went missing and didn't assign a proxy so they had no vote. Wonder if that happened three times.

Good for California, though.

Again, at least by a very close margin. Could have very much been a shutout not in our favor, but it wasn't. At least discussion was allowed.

The Johnson amendment to delete Rule 16(a)(1), the rule that made all primaries binding (which would prevent delegates in caucus states from being unbound) passed 39-20. Delegates in caucus states are now unbound once again.

Correction: this amendment to delete Rule 16(a)(1) has passed the Rules Committee. It must pass the entire RNC by a 3/4 vote tomorrow to be enacted.

Therein lies the obstacle. Can it be done?

It was pretty even when Boehner refused to count the vote and pretended the change passed at RNC. There have been some changes, but some of them are good, as well.

However, does it need to pass the RNC? I thought that horrible rule they passed said the rules committee could pass stuff essentially on their own, between elections... Maybe I'm misremembering.

The rules say that the Rules Committee can propose changes between elections, but that any changes must be ratified by a 3/4 vote of the entire RNC. Tonight's meeting was of the Rules Committee itself. They voted down Morton Blackwell's amendment to repeal ALL 2012 RNC rules changes, but voted in favor of deleting Rule 16(a)(1), which made all primaries binding.

The vote to delete Rule 16(a)(1) must now pass the full RNC on a 3/4 supermajority vote.

In keeping with my tradition of long posts that are usually probably way too long to read, I wanted to share with you guys a letter I wrote to Reince Priebus, and an acquaintance of mine who's there was going to try to read it if he got the opportunity. (Doubt it happened. LOL) Thought someone here might be bored enough to read it too. Here ya go:

I was a lifelong Democrat-voting Liberal who switched my party registration to Republican in 2012 in order to join the "big tent" of the GOP and fight for my Freedom. When I realized that Obama broke almost every one of his promises to me after he was elected in 2008, I was sickened to know he was just another war mongering freedom-shredding corrupt corporate puppet who LIED to me.

And then in late 2011, I discovered someone I could trust. Someone who does what he says and says what he does. Someone who understands what the Constitution of this great Republic actually stands for. That man was Ron Paul, and he opened my eyes for the first time.

But my hope was short-lived. Throughout the 2012 Primary I watched how my new party, the party of freedom, was not a "Big Tent" at all, but a Small Throne next to a Big Dumpster. And anyone who didn't agree with the throne was promptly thrown into the dumpster like unwanted garbage.

I watched as state after state, GOP officials BROKE THEIR OWN RULES time and again in order to shut out the most vital, most vocal, most active party members, because the leadership didn't like the result. My new party was treating me, and everyone like me, as if we were unwanted. My hopes and dreams about my new party, and my newfound passion in the fight to restore freedom and liberty to this great nation, were SHATTERED.

And then the RNC in Tampa -- this FRAUDULENT passing of rules that only occurred by IGNORING THE PROPER RULES OF ORDER. This only added to the insult of all the illegal removals of duly-elected delegates.

If this is how the GOP does business in the future, now I see what a terrible mistake I made. And I'm not the only one in this position. Many people joined the GOP in the hopes of seeing some REAL change in this country -- only to be thrown in the dumpster.

I'm not asking you--I'm telling you--to take a good hard look at your party. The Republican Party is DOOMED if you do not reverse these fraudulently passed rules that ensure that NO GRASSROOTS EFFORTS will ever make ANY difference in the party's nominating process.

If these horrible rules changes are not reversed, then anybody who actually CARES and who actually puts forth effort, now they might as well be gagged and bound for the entire process. If this is how you think new life will be breathed into the party, I have news for you: You might as well just shut down the entire party now and let the Democrats run everything. They certainly have ground game over there. What does the GOP have? A throne, and a dumpster to house anyone with ground game. Great strategy, Einstein.

The "AYES" did NOT have it. And if this isn't fixed, I think it's safe to say you'll never again hear the result of a presidential election be, "The GOP has it." Because I, and all Liberty minded people like me, are not going to stick around to be thrown in the Big Dumpster again.
