The Illusion of Choice

This forum itself is very much like a political party. Or it used to be back when people here still gave a damn.

We'd choose our favorite candidates and then go support them on the streets and in the polls.

If the Republican Party is a public-private partnership, then so are we.

Well I guess that's only half nonsense. The GOP has strata. There's the grassroots stratum, and there's the lobbyist stratum that only waters and fertilizes the grassroots that stay within the fence.

For those who participate in the process/system.

But then there are those of us who no longer support candidates, or work the polls, or vote, and don't contribute time/money to any candidate. Yet we are still forced to pay for things that we don't want, need or agree to.

To my great shame, I did once donate money to a political candidate (Ron Paul).

That was the one and only, and last, time, I've ever participated in the process

I was on the national campaign, won the delegate congressional districts hands down, and went to convention as a VIP. I was the one who sent mailers out with cd's included to every single national delegate in every state in the country urging them to support Ron Paul. Once I got to the convention I learned my lesson; Ron Paul was no longer Ron Paul anymore - he was "other", as they changed the rules midstream a couple of times to get rid of him.

And some folks actually believe that honest "voting" or hand ballots at the booth is going to make a difference?
