NH REPUBLICANS: DON’T LIMIT DEBATE PARTICIPANTS

CONCORD – New Hampshire Republican Party Chairman Fergus Cullen releases the following statement regarding primary weekend debates:

“Limiting the number of candidates who are invited to participate in debates is not consistent with the tradition of the first in the nation primary. The level playing field requires that all candidates be given an equal opportunity to participate – not just a select few determined by the media prior to any votes being cast.”

“Therefore, the New Hampshire Republican Party calls upon all media organizations planning pre-primary debates or forums for both parties to include all recognized major candidates in their events.”

“The New Hampshire Republican Party has notified FOX News of our position, and we are in ongoing discussions with FOX News about having as many candidates as possible participate in the forum scheduled for January 6.”

I think this is due 100% to the response by grassroots campaign. Well done and keep up the pressure until he is invited to attend.

Interesting.

I wonder what kind of tricks they'll pull if he actually makes it in to the forum.

I know none of you will believe me but this was in the works before you bitched at them, this is why the NH people were saying "they are going to bat for us", etc.

The good people of the New Hampshire GOP are trying to show FOX what "Fair and Balanced" really means; I applaud them.

It doesnt matter. They never work anyway. That's why their solution was just to exclude Dr. Paul from the forum entirely.

This sounds a bit like 'Clinton-speak'. I hope the grassroots continues with efforts to sponsor a nearby rally on Dr. Paul's behalf; which would probably wind up garnering FAR MORE media attention in New Hampshire than the FOX forum itself.
How many people in NH watch FNC anyway? 10,000? 15,000? Most in their audience are probably neo-cons anyway...no Paul, no viewers.

Right.

I mean they invited all the other candidates , but not Ron Paul. The goal here should be to draw attention to the facts. I personally don't care one way or the other if they let him on their crappy debate, as long as everyone in America knows Fox did not invite him last week, when they invited all the other candidates.

As one of the "NH people", I believe this level of support from the NH GOP happened because of the amount of vocal support for Dr. Paul and concern about what was going on.

"out-of-state Paulites" were not the only ones demanding an explanation ... plenty of NH GOP party members and officials were, too.

Then again, a number of NH GOP party members & officials are Free State Project members, so perhaps it's not a total surprise ;)

In our messages, we should now be saying that we want them to follow the NH GOP's advice and encourage them to include all candidates.
