For those bored enough to know, the #1 issue for all of the Huckabee supporters at my caucus tonight:

Abortion.

That's it, they really wern't concerned about much else.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmm... guessing that won't impress them :)

At the end of the caucus you lay down the "planks" for the party.. and abortion trumped even Iraq with the people attending. It should be noted that my caucus precinct is a very liberal area of town too.

If they weren't concerned about much else they are dumb. Huckabee has sold out on every other issue, why wouldn't he on that one? Ron Paul has sold out on none.. Jeesh, need to get the word out to single issue voters better.

Huckabee is pro life? I guess if you call killing soldiers in Iraq but saving week old zigots is pro life...

Why the hell do people care about abortion so much when it comes to choosing a president? It's so ridiculous. There are 100 more important issues.

Normally, I don't care about religion, but right now...

I really hate ignorant Christians.

(to all of you Christian Ron Paul supporters: don't worry. It's just a phase. I'll get over it. :D)

They don't call them hot button issues for no reason.

What kills me is most anti-abortion people (and I'm one of them btw) would rather have it be legal 100% IE: Roe vs. Wade stand than strike it down and return control to the states. Wouldn't you rather be able to control it at your local / state level than have NO control over the issue at all?

Roe vs. Wade is a lose/lose situation for pro-lifers, they just don't want to admit it.

When they figure out they have to give their children over to fight their stupid wars maybe they will wake up!!

Why bother saving them in the womb to kill them in the war....

I am pro-life not pro-choice, fwiw.No real Christian worth their salt can ever tell me Jesus wanted us to kill other people to solve our diplomacy problems...

It's sad.

Abortion is the #1 issue for me. I even stand in front of Planned Parenthoods with graphic fetus posters. They are all blind. Paul is by far the best pro-life candidate there is. That is why I first signed on to support him.

Thank you for your ministry Benaiah. You've got more guts than me.

I wish my fellow Christians would also see Paul's pro-life record. Then I wish they'd do a little research and see where Paul and Huck stand on other issues. I think they'd find that for the most part their values would align more with Dr. Paul.

I am pro-life myself and support Ron Paul, and I don't see that as a contradiction. Liberty begins with life itself:
"...Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness..."
It's no accident that life is the first word in the sequence. Ron Paul could do a better message of underlining his support, however. But then, he would do well to go beyond that issue. Let me give you an example:

"As a doctor for over 30 years, I delivered over 4000 babies, and have never performed an abortion. In addition, I have introduced legislation to overturn Roe v. Wade and to restore protection for the unborn. I am solidly pro-life and have a solid track record in support of life. But in addition to life, I believe that we have been endowed with other rights, such as the right to be free from government intrusions into our personal lives and the right to be free from the bondage of the tax code."
<policy positions continue from here>
The point is to embrace Huckabee's position (pro-life), and to extend it. Many voters have core principles which are a prerequisite to voting for the candidate, but are open to candidates from there if the first prerequisite is met.

I'm Catholic and I admit, I was immediately drawn to Huck back in May. I thought, finally a guy with VALUES, charisma and charm. But I had to take a closer look at Ron Paul, because I am an ardent pro-lifer and Dr Paul is against the death penalty. Now I see clearly how RP is the most pro-life candidate (anti-abortion, anti-death penalty, anti-war), but even more than that I see how his viewpoints (sound money, non-intervention, small government) roll together, interlink and ultimately expose the simple Truth ... we have individual rights endowed by our Creator, not government. This is perfect for me as an USAF member, because I swore to uphold the Constitution, the document that was meant to keep the Federal government small. I'm a changed man because of Ron Paul.

My point was meant to be that these Christian Huck supporters have only scratched the surface, like I did initially. I think a lot of his casual supporters made up their minds only a few weeks ago and would convert to RP if only they would be exposed to the core of the Liberty message. It took me a couple weeks before I was hooked on Ron Paul. I'm only 33 years old and I'll never vote the same again ... we're talking about at 40-50 year impact.

AAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH

I told you guys about two months ago... The Christian vote is worried about abortion.

The reason why Huck had such a huge turnout is because Christians hear him talk about Jesus, and they know about his Pro life stance. Period.

That is all they really care about... they think that if he is a pastor then he must have God on his side.

I am telling you, this is what got Bush elected in 2000 and 2004. They are the largest voting block in America. Period.

That is why so many candidates have made attempts to pander to them. Ted Haggard even said this in the movie Jesus Camp. "When we turn out to vote, we decide who is president"

These are just the primaries, and most Christians arent even paying attention yet.

RP should be talking about his personal faith and how although he believes in Jesus he will abide by constitution for separation of church and state.

Huck doesnt even have a Theology degree, he dropped out. Look it up..

Uhh, let's see..it's a red herring? A distraction from the real issues? The Establishment can put up two candidates with opposing opinions on abortion and pretend that you have a real choice?

What makes Ron Paul great is the fact he doesn't politic with his religious views to gain votes. A true man of God does not us God's name for personal gain.
