Been trying to find out what happened in Texas. No results. No press that I can find, TheReal2012DelegateCount.com shows the state as red (meaning results unknown), and barely any word here in the forums from what I can see.

The only thing I've seen is the mention of possible vote flipping, and some speculation that the results aren't good for Romney and thus aren't being released, but otherwise nothing.

I realize it may not be stategically wise to talk about this, but even a simple "results are in our favor" statement from an official source would be good enough.

I was there as a delegate and I can say that we did very well. Much better than expected. Specific counts won't be released to protect the delegates selected.

I was there only as a guest (since I'm out of state) but I parked the Ron Paul Corvette outside for two days and there was a very large amount of interest in Ron Paul. Some of the delegates I talked to said there were many RP people on the inside who were not so visible. The man who introduced Ron Paul for his speech seemed to be a Republican official of some type (missed his intro) but he introduced Paul with praise...

I'd say Texas was a good state for us...

That's also the same state that the voting machines said he got around 10% of the vote.

I saw the car. At one point we used it as a meeting place.

Thanks. Guess I'll have to keep assuming it is good for us and they aren't releasing the results because of it. To what degree of good, I guess I'll have to wait and see. Can't wait till Tampa. And as sailingaway said, please don't post specifics.

In Texas, the RP delegates were stealth. Very stealth. In fact so stealth that their speeches they made to get elected as national delegate, were mostly Romney stump speeches. And so, there will never be an actual Ron Paul number of delegates.

It was the only way to get RP delegates selected for National.

Besides that, our convention was about as big as the national convention. And no way of knowing who was for who.

Heya! Nice running into you. Loved the wrap!

What I CAN Tell you skeptics; is when Ron Paul spoke, he filled 1/3 of the stadium. During the General Assembly, the stadium was roughly 5/6 full. We had a pretty darn good presence there, probably the largest RP gathering I've ever witnessed. When Kay Baily Hutchison spoke & said Romney was the Nominee, the entire stadium booed in thunderous disapproval. If you guys want an official number, I'd say we walked away with a Minimum of 45 delegates.

They were probably booing because it was Kay Baily Hutchison speaking. Her and Cornyn are no good for us.

No. The boos were very specific to her pimping of Romney. The crowd was pretty respectful to most speakers.

Each of the ~34 CDs elected 3 delegates and 3 alternates. Some CDs swept their allotments with RP supporters and others weren't so successful. I myself don't have a handle on how many RP delegates were elected, but I'm pretty sure that 95% or so of the at-large delegates (not selected by individual CDs) are establishment types. Whatever the number of RP delegates is, it was enough that the campaign asked folks not to spill the beans.

If any Texans want to help still, check out your local GOP website to see if your voting precinct has a precinct chair. If not, apply, vacancies can be applied to late. Don't mention Ron Paul, they have the right to deny applicants.

I made a list of Travis County vacancies in the Texas forum. Almost 40% of precincts are vacant!

There were people who posted here after the convention who didn't get to see Ron speak because it was when the CDs were meeting and some were and some were not done. (I'm sure they didn't do that on purpose to entice our folks to leave early..... :p) So I understand the entire floor and up the sides of the stadium were filled by the end of his speech -- pretty good for a speech during the CD sessions! In any event, the crowd sure looked big on the screen.

I missed the first half of Ron's speech because of the SD meetings. Crowd was definitely booing what Kay said every time she mentioned Romney. My honest assessment is that at least 15% of the delegates in most of the general assemblies were openly Paul supporters... with many more stealth supporters like myself choosing not to boo and not to shout out "Ron Paul!" At every opportunity.

+1

I'd say it was about 5% of the assembly acted that way, but who's counting? And then there were the people who didn't try to "dress to impress" and worse, the delegates who were so STEALTH they weren't pro-active and didn't even get on the official text list that was passed around by the meetup groups! They didn't even know to vote for our people! Also when the TEXT said "DON'T BOO-IT ID's US" people didn't listen. It hurt some of the CD's. I didn't mind the Ron Paul buttons on folk as much as I did the booing. Let the Tea Party have the booing rap. It actually had turned off some people to us. I heard it while networking.

Good news was that in some instances, Tea Party did work with us. It depended on how we approached people. Building future alliances and all.

Btw, there are 36 CDs now, versus the original 32. That alone gives Texas an extra 12 delegates in general.
