We have, conceivably, three liberty-oriented (not necessarily full-fledged) candidates running for federal office in Texas who advanced to the runoffs.

First, of course, Ted Cruz will be battling it out in the runoff against Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst. Dewhurst has virtually unlimited resources so we really need to support Ted financially and of course, personally.

Then we've got Steve Stockman in the new CD36, a former Republican Congressman who is very much a paleoconservative as far as I can tell. A real hell raiser!

And in Lloyd Doggett's old district, we have Wes Riddle against the ultimate politician, Roger Williams (former Sec. of State).

Thank you all for advancing these candidates and keep them in mind as we head to a July 31 runoff...

Someone should make fliers and/or cards promoting these candidates and pass them around at the convention so the conservatives know who to support, and can pass the word along to their people. Also, stating how important it is to back these guys financially, esp Cruz. Us outsiders will do what we can to help.

Don't forget Wes Riddle and Paul Perry!

Dewhurst or Cruz, does it really matter which neocon wins?

I've had the pleasure of spending a bit of time around Cruz when he does small meetings, and I can assure you that he's genuine in his desire to slash government.

He's maybe more like Mike Lee or Rand Paul, sure, but he's very good. Not a neoconservative. Not close.

Beto O'Rourke, a former El Paso city councilman. Certainly an interesting guy... I'll create a thread on him.
Skimmed over his site. Looks like a standard Democrat, but glad he is against the drug war and supports term limits.

just watched a clip in which he also spoke against the Ndaa so their are there some key issues we seem to have some common ground with him on.

The unfounded hate of Ted Cruz is so absurd. He has the top people in the liberty movement supporting him, and you guys keep calling him a neocon. You have no basis to do such.

I swear some of you would rather none of our issues get advanced because you enjoy bitching and calling people names. I swear if a guy has a chance to win, y'all don't like him. It's nuts.

+rep. I agree with you completely. TED CRUZ FOR SENATE. He will fight against the TSA, the NDAA indefinite detention, the World Court, the EPA, and will be a strong conservative voice in the Senate.

You have to admit he is not the perfect candidate. I agree it was probably best to support him over Addison, but he will be no major victory for the liberty Movement beyond Rand Paul's influence on him. Hopefully he wins, and Kurt Bills as well.
