Tampa Convention Hurricane Watch

Rick Scott the Governor of Florida has just announced he is dropping from all RNC events and duties.

When will the RNC finally give some clarity to the delegates on the situation?? The NWS Surge predictions look to flood at a minimum the two main hotels that the RNC is using. The Tampa weatherman fully expects at least "Area A" evacuation orders to come tonight or by morning.

Not only the actual storm issues around Tampa but Florida is facing possible major damage in severasl areas and will need all those law enforcement and emergency person that are on standby.

Wow, thanks for the update.

Well the storm running up the north shore of Cuba is not good.. (That was in none of the models I saw) and not the early predictions.

Not good at all.

Geez, they musta planted a double dose of seeds this time around..

I think this might be divine retribution on the GOP. This gives the whole nation a chance to learn what Romney and company have been up to regarding knocking Ron Paul delegates out of their elected positions. A delay works in our favor.

the stuff I'm seeing says it is still a tropical storm and just 'MAY' hit hurricane status as it hits the keys.... where are you seeing the stronger stuff? Maybe I should delete the 'pussy' video I put in the thread about cancelling the convention. I sure hope it doesn't keep the crowds away from Ron's rally.

I'm sure the media will be all over it. And so will the Democrats.

Oh, wait.

(Actually, I will be very surprised if ANY mainstream coverage comes of it, because....THEY'RE ALL PLAYING ON THE SAME TEAM.)

The fact that it is not going to go directly over Cuba and get torn up by the mountains there, means that it is going to be in better shape as it pops into the warm and relatively open water. If it skirts into the Gulf, it may strengthen rather quickly. These are all hypotheticals, of course, but the conditions are right. As for the "pussy" stuff, it's not about the category strength of a storm. People try to say this every time, but no one believes it because the media just wants to be able to say "AHHHHH! Category 5 it's the end of the world!!!" even though some Cat 5 storms only have such high winds in a little slim ring around the eye, which either does not make landfall or weakens rapidly as the storm comes ashore. There will be issues with flooding. This week looks to be an utter mess.

From the 5 pm discussion:

It should be noted that the global models are
forecasting a very favorable pattern of upper-level winds over the
northern Gulf of Mexico by 72 hr. Should this verify and should
Isaac establish an inner core...the cyclone could be significantly
stronger than currently forecast.

RNC has just canceled Monday's events due to TS Issac.

“Due to the severe weather reports for the Tampa Bay area, the Republican National Convention will convene on Monday August 27th and immediately recess until Tuesday afternoon, August 28th. After consulting with Governor Scott, NOAA and local emergency management officials, we are optimistic that we will begin an exciting, robust convention that will nominate the Romney-Ryan ticket.

Be waiting for more then just a recess. Shenanigans while no one is watching

Fox says theyre going to go ahead and nominate Romney real quick monday "and get that out of the way" then cancel it until wednesday without and speeches or anything Monday or Tuesday.

Yeah, they're gonna "convene" Monday and go immediately into a recess until Tuesday..Yet they're gonna have time to get Romney's nomination out of the way.

Sounds about right.
