Donations start at midnight tonight and carry on for 48hours!

Why two days? So you can donate on the first... then get a friend to donate on the second!

Hopefully the website survives, it hasn't really been fully tested.. hope the donation widget holds up!

DrKnows and Stardreamer, stay on stand-by, you too Spirit of 76... I may be giving you a call!

link for donations: http://www.joinsanders.com
click on the donation widget... watch it grow.

Fun.... how about bringing up the obligatory Hold! thread for tonight?

Also, the next 48 hours is the build-up for our next major battle...and pivotal day for the campaign.

It won't be much, Bro, but you'll be getting a visit from me.

You got it, I'll help. But ya better win by any means necessary and stick with us ;)

P.S. No pressure!

It doesn't matter what size the donation as long as your name is among those that donated.

I know money is tight, and I won't be demoralized by a low turn-out.
If I don't get the funds for 2008, I will continue to raise once a month until we $10 or $20 dollar my campaign fund into the $300,000 dollar range.

I've made the mistake of running under-funded campaigns in the past... and that is the greatest adviced I could give to others running, don't commit to a run 100% until you have the funds to compete.
In all honesty, your name and most importantly your message will not be heard by the average joe.

Now with that being said, I don't need $300,000 to start the campaign... but i do need $25,000 to $50,000 to get started.
the most important position i need to fill is treasurer.

By the way, I've just hired my campaign manager, Andrew Axsom.
He was the Ron Paul campaign Louisiana Coordinator.

Oops, you just lost me. I went to your site, and started reading it. As soon as I read "Our government failed us during Katrina" you lost me. Even Ron Paul would not agree with you on this one. Unless you change your opinion on this point, you may find it difficult to get true Ron Paul like minded people to support you.

It is not the governments responsibility to take care of Katrina victims. If you want to live in an area prone to hurricane activity, then it is your responsibility to have adequate insurance to take care of yourself. Why should my hard earned tax dollar go to fix what happened as a result of Katrina? It is not the governments responsibility to fix it. And I would bank RP would agree with me, and not your position on this one.

It is not the governments job to bail out the banks when they are going under...

It is not the governments job to bail out the airline industry when they are going under...

It is not the governments job to bail out people that live in places where hurricanes will destroy your homes...

etc etc

I agree that the government shouldn't have been the ones responsible.
But-
The people put their tax money and trust in the government to help them in case of emergency... and that obviously failed.
That is the point I was making... I believe you have taken that comment out of context.
The government did fail the people during Katrina. Proof that the federal government is not capable of taking care of people's basic needs.

Good luck!!!

Good Luck!!! Let's get RP the help he deserves in Congress. Florida will be pulling for you Brent.

C'mon guys, let's support our own!

Brent, you'll be getting an exceedingly modest donation from me. Being broke sucks.

Ok, here is the entire quote from your site, in context...straight cut and paste from your site.

"Our government failed us during Katrina, it failed to protect us on 9/11, and it is failing us now as it wages a pointless war that only encourages people to hate us."

And once again, I tell you, you are completely wrong on this matter. If you dare, and are able to talk to RP about this, Im telling you, he will say the same thing.

I agree our government dropped the ball with 9/11. I agree on your point about the war. However, you are still 110% wrong on the Katrina thing. I think part of the problem there, is your own personal bias blinding you to this fact. I live here in Florida, and have had to deal with a great number of hurricanes myself. In one year we had Frances and Jeane hit us dead on, back to back within weeks of each other. I accepted no help whatsoever from the government. I know, I choose to live here, I have to live with the consequences of living here. I fixed the damage I could out of my own pocket, and got the rest form my insurance. I received nothing from the government. So IMHO, as long as you have a nanny state mentality, even if it is towards your own state, I simply can not support you. You are not a Ron Paul type of Republican, and that is the only kind of Republican I will throw my support behind.

The people put their tax money and trust in the government to help them in case of emergency... and that obviously failed.

This is a completely false statement. No one puts "their tax money and trust in the government to help them in case of emergency" no one. That is nanny state thinking. First of all, the entire Katrina disaster should have been handled at the state level. It was the Governor and Mayor whom are the most to blame. It is illegal and un-Constitutional for the US Government to send in the military. Without the consent of the states governor, President Bush can't do anything, his hands are tied. When Jeb Bush even thought we might get hit by a Hurricane, he gave the consent ahead of the storm to receive aid from the military. The Governor in your state sat there for 2 days on her fat ass, before she gave the consent. So now 2+ days later the military starts rolling in to help.

Please do not take this the wrong way. Ron Paul has opened my eyes to many things, that I was blind to before. Whether you like it or not, your position is that of a "nanny state" mentality. If you take a step back, can remove your personal feelings and bias, and take a close look at things, I think you'll see that I am right about this issue.
