I agree that the government shouldn't have been the ones responsible.
But-
The people put their tax money and trust in the government to help them in case of emergency... and that obviously failed.
That is the point I was making... I believe you have taken that comment out of context.
The government did fail the people during Katrina. Proof that the federal government is not capable of taking care of people's basic needs.
Ok, here is the entire quote from your site, in context...straight cut and paste from your site.
"
Our government failed us during Katrina, it failed to protect us on 9/11, and it is failing us now as it wages a pointless war that only encourages people to hate us."
And once again, I tell you, you are completely wrong on this matter. If you dare, and are able to talk to RP about this, Im telling you, he will say the same thing.
I agree our government dropped the ball with 9/11. I agree on your point about the war. However, you are still 110% wrong on the Katrina thing. I think part of the problem there, is your own personal bias blinding you to this fact. I live here in Florida, and have had to deal with a great number of hurricanes myself. In one year we had Frances and Jeane hit us dead on, back to back within weeks of each other. I accepted no help whatsoever from the government. I know, I choose to live here, I have to live with the consequences of living here. I fixed the damage I could out of my own pocket, and got the rest form my insurance. I received
nothing from the government. So IMHO, as long as you have a nanny state mentality, even if it is towards your own state, I simply can not support you. You are not a Ron Paul type of Republican, and that is the only kind of Republican I will throw my support behind.
The people put their tax money and trust in the government to help them in case of emergency... and that obviously failed.

This is a completely false statement. No one puts "their tax money and trust in the government to help them in case of emergency" no one. That is nanny state thinking. First of all, the entire Katrina disaster should have been handled at the
state level. It was the Governor and Mayor whom are the most to blame. It is illegal and un-Constitutional for the US Government to send in the military. Without the consent of the states governor, President Bush can't do anything, his hands are tied. When Jeb Bush even thought we might get hit by a Hurricane, he gave the consent ahead of the storm to receive aid from the military. The Governor in your state sat there for 2 days on her fat ass, before she gave the consent. So now 2+ days later the military starts rolling in to help.
Please do not take this the wrong way. Ron Paul has opened my eyes to many things, that I was blind to before. Whether you like it or not, your position is that of a "nanny state" mentality. If you take a step back, can remove your personal feelings and bias, and take a close look at things, I think you'll see that I am right about this issue.
