Student turns in parents to DARE officer at school

Much of what is wrong with the public school system today is simply lazy parenting.

Bah, nothing is wrong with the public schools, they are doing exactly what they are supposed to do and doing it quite well, that is, churning out generation after generation of semi literate, placid, dolts.

And some of them have found their way here on their attempt to escape the trap. Which make for some interesting posts. I'm amazed by the sorts of conversations I have with people under 30.

I work with a number of people that have graduated from fairly prestigious technical colleges and am flabbergasted at times by the lack of "general" knowledge that some of these kids display.

They are bright at the narrow specialty that they were trained in and that's it, anything beyond that and it's like falling off a cliff.

I remember a time when it was not questioned.
I was buying my own at 13. No questions asked.
I also carried a rifle openly at that age. (British .303) No questions asked.
My High School had a smoking area for students. and a rifle range.

Times have changed.,, not for the better.
:(

Yeah , I was buying my own at 15 , no questions asked . We had a designated smoking area at High school . Amazing we survived and contributed to society too ....

Correct answer. The communists and Nazis realized the importance of controlling the education of the children. The department of education has to go, and get the schools back to local control or, even better privitized.

You beat me to it. So right.

I read somewhere that kids who went through the DARE program were no less likely to try drugs than kids who didn't go through the program. In many cases kids were actually more likely to try drugs after taking DARE. I'd post a link but I'm on my phone.

2001 - Surgeon General categorizes D.A.R.E. "Does Not Work"

In 2001, the Surgeon General of the United States, David Satcher M.D. Ph.D., placed the D.A.R.E. program in the category of "Does Not Work."[5] The U.S. General Accountability Office concluded in 2003 that the program was sometimes counterproductive in some populations, with those who graduate from D.A.R.E. later having higher rates of drug use (a boomerang effect).[24]

As an 18 year old college freshman who went through DARE and was encouraged by the officers to spy on my parents to look for drugs, i can tell you that these are sick people we are dealing with. They sincerely believe that it is their duty to indoctrinate kids and turn them against their parents if they commit the heinous crime of smoking pot. I can also tell you that, fortunately, most kids are smart enough to know that DARE is feeding them a line of BS by the time they turn 13 or 14. Unfortunately for these parents, the government got to them before that.

This is EXACTLY the programs The WARSAW PACT and Soviet Union conducted in commercials and literature upon civilians and especially children to turn in friends/family members, co-workers or colleagues, anyone speaking or that spoke about "The West", Freedom, Anything against the state or broke any crime against the state.

EXACT SAME SHIT... turning neighbor on neighbor, turning co-worker on co-worker, family member on family members, etc...

You can receive: Medals, Awards, and Money turning in dissenters, etc.

Just more polished, so we're back to the same old "SECURITY and SAFETY"

This kid is going to have worsening issues as he grows up. He's in "the system" now, and even if the parents aren't going to be locked up for years and years, there will be prolonged court battles back and forth to get the kids back (if they want to bother... I kind of wouldn't want that one back!). He's going to be defined by something ill-informed he did as an 11-year-old. He's going to feel really dumb when he realizes how stupid what he did was. He's going to, if it gets out at school when he's the right age, miss out on some really neat friends who don't want to bother with hanging out around someone who might turn them in for drinking/smoking/drugging, etc..

The parents are going to have a huge headache on their hands for the rest of their lives, and depending on how this goes down a record (should do wonders for getting a steady job in this economy).

The sibling didn't do anything at all wrong, and has been "removed" from parents they didn't even object to. Resentful of the parents for smoking? Resentful of the sibling for tattling? Blaming themselves for mommy and daddy getting snatched away? Time will tell.

But it's all justified, because marijuana kills!!!!111

Well, they do teach in those DARE programs that marijuana ruins peoples lives, just look at what it did to these people.:(

Edit: Seems to me, they should really teach that the DARE programs can ruin peoples lives.

"Police say both the 11-year old and a sibling have been removed from the parents' house by social services."

This is sad

Have you heard the (apocrophal) story about the child who murdered his parents and then threw himself on the mercy of the court - because he was an orphan ?

;):D

I wouldn't be surprised if the kid turned them in to get back at to them for some sort of punishment. He will most likely regret his decision.

Back in the days of the Iron Curtain and NATO vs. Warsaw Pact, I'd look over the border and wonder what life was like over there. Thanks, I now have a clear enough picture, and feel free to turn the US back into what it is supposed to be at any time.....
