Stop Blaming Old People.

Listen, "junior," it's obvious from your post what's wrong, and it's not the old folks. I also resent younger people "trying to sway my thinking" instead of discussing issues calmly and logically. I'd get bitter and nasty with some young punk calling the deaths of my sons and grandsons a "farcical War on Terror."

I have a lot of practical reasons that I hate Bush, Jr. & Sr., but I expect people I'm talking to, to respect the office, if not the man.

It's very obvious from your post that you think "discussing" is what you see on Jerry Springer, Oprah, and Dr. Phil. That kind of "discussion" is not going to win over anybody over 20, or with an IQ over 80.

Yes, the old folks are afraid of something... seeing the country in the control of adolescents who, because they were educated in government schools, haven't the slightest knowledge of respect, manners, or logical thinking processes, and instead go by their gut instinct and their training by government nannies.

I'm 50+ and appreciate that many young people have used their logical thinking process to support Ron Paul.

I appreciate your enthusiasm, but I'm worn out from trying.

Yes, and now that I understand that, I understand your frustration.

It's easy to get into a habit of thinking of any group as contiguous... that is, you pick up the conversation with "old guy 2" where you left off with "old guy 1" so it starts out with you already in an argumentative mood.

When I can't take another IDIOT in the general populace, I come here, to RPF, and find a few people to beat up on because they're not canvassing, or because they think cussing in the forum is cool... or in your case, because it seemed you thought the best way to "discuss" is to argue.

I now see you're just suffering from burnout dealing with idiots like I often do. Beat up a few people here for not canvassing, or for wasting time on stupid polls, then take a shower and you'll feel like selling the good doctor to sheeple again. :)

I completely disagree. I blame the old people, not the media. I did my homework. I researched all the candidates and their positions on the issues.
There's no reason why the old people can't do the same research online or offline with something so important as the next election instead of allowing themselves to be brainwashed by the media. If the old people care about their Social Security checks, then they should bother to research which candidate will do the most for Social Security before S.S goes broke.
If S.S goes broke during McCain administration because McCain is wasting the Social Security cash to pay for wars I will be laughing at them.

Since you decided to call me out in IM about this, I'll post my position here as well. Blame the old people all you want for not doing research, then look at where the bulk of the youth vote is going. It's not to Dr. Paul... and there's been LOTS more outreach work to the young folk than to the oldsters.

This isn't about age. It's about people being led by the MSM, and not bothering to do their own research. The ONLY way to win this is to canvas people from ALL age groups, and help them understand the seriousness of the situation.

The problem is they're voting.

Even watching the media, you are still aware McCain wants another 100 yrs in Iraq, Romney, Huckabee, Giuliani all want a continued war; all have obvious (just from watching mostly positive media coverage) economically-unsound platforms.

If they didn't vote, possibly missing ever hearing about Paul through the media, I'd be much less likely to express disgust towards them. That not being the case--for many thousands--I am disgusted with them.

Hhmmm.... You mean kinda like how most of the young people support Obama or Hillary? Like that? And they don't have the excuse of not having internet access. Now, do they?

Perhaps instead, you might want to hand older Americans something to read, like one of the grassroots Senior slim jims.

Neo cons! Project for a new American Century! GWB.

Since 1913 are country has really slid downhill and mass debt has incurred with inflation and liberty robbing legislation and controls, and the ever increasing personal income tax over decades (started at 2% for example). Blame the 'neocons', it's a facade since the people who want to destroy the US control both parties in general, and want a NAU.

PNAC is a front organization for the Trilateral Commission/CFR, they are not some separate entity. The TC controls the Executive Branch. G HW Bush was on the TC, Jeb on PNAC, W is on strings, Cheney involved with the TC, Bill Clinton, etc. Z. Brzezinski is on Exec Committee of TC and pretends to be good cop by bashing W and the wars. 'Liberals' and 'Conservatives' members of TC and CFR.

One of the ways they are trying to create one world gov't control and bring America to it's knees is through WARS. Meanwhile our tax money has been used and continues to be used to prop up Russia.

The TC is more streamlined and smaller (members from US, Europe, and Japan). Check out their website: trilateralcommission.org to see current info and members.

Ron Paul got 3 times more votes from Florida young people than 45+ year old people

http://www.cnn.com/ELECTION/2008/primaries/results/epolls/index.html#FLREP

And old people are supposed to be wiser from their life experiences as to whom they vote for...

This scapegoating is rediculous. Maybe rather than blaming "the old people," we should be blaming ourselves for not educating enough people in time. I know that's how I feel and my primary isn't for another 2 months.

You mean the old people that are going to die leaving my family and me with a country $9.5 Trillion dollars in debt? OK, who should we blame?

Start with your parents first. Then, ask all of the young people you know, who are they voting for? This can be changed, but not by blaming others. Just do it ourselves, we have to fix this ourselves and not play the blame game. The old people are trusting of government, trusting of the media, they believe that humans are basically good because they are not out doing evil things. They cannot believe others are out to harm them intentionally. Most of America do not believe the people who are destroying our country are really doing these things. It is not only the old people. Think, and find a way to educate others.

"Stop blaming old people"

Then tell them to quit making stupid votes

Every generation that came before us sold us out somewhere along the way. The blame lies squarely on the shoulders of the folks that gave us the 16th and 17th amendments, the Federal reserve, the New Deal and the Great Society. If they happen to be OLD now, well... if the shoe fits... hehehe

I agree with this. And if the old people of today didn't sell this country down the river we wouldn't even be on this site discussing anything. But I refuse to be victimized by the mistakes of my grandparents. They screwed up, oh well, What can I do to change things now? And if you actually talk to a lot of older people, who truly do a lot of the voting, they vote straight tickets and so stubborn they won't change for anything. It's on me, my kids, and grandkids that are inheriting this mess so it's on me to change this and educate those who will listen and not waste time on who won't.
