Stop Blaming Old People.

Its just foolish. Ive lived in Florida all my life.

The problem isnt Old People, its the Media that they watch and trust.

The elderly here do not know how to use computers very well, the majority do not even own one nor want to mess with them.

They refuse to want to learn, and dont want to change their ways.

Its a fact.

Blame the Media.

I agree with you. My dad and I are living in Chile for the time being and we both voted for Paul. He's a Vietnam War Vet, marched for Civil Rights and he's a moderate (I'm a moderate libertarian). He agrees that its the media's fault that the seniors voted the way they did. My family lived in Tampa for 10 years (proud Floridian here) and he told me about how the state was during that time (1986-1996). We both agree that the state has changed so much.

No...I think I'll keep blaming them. It all comes down to choices. If they want to be brainwashed by the media, and refuse to use computers, that is their fault.

Exactly. They are CHOOSING to live in the past and they are CHOOSING to have their reality shaped by talking heads. THEY are the problem.

If no one paid mind to the Bias Media it wouldn't matter that the media is bias. But alas we have old people who live and die by what the talking heads and 15 second spots tell them.

WAKE UP AMERICA!

The issue is this:
Not very many people read, period. Maybe 10% read more than a few minutes of newspaper, magazines, Internet, etc. As things get worse and worse economically, some people just don't have the time or, if elderly, it's harder for them to read. Thus, the importance of video, which at present comprises of over 95% TV & movies and 5% Internet.

When someone gets sick and doesn't get a satisfactory answer from their MD, often for the first time in their life, they seek for answers by using the Internet to seek truth. As more and more people feel true economic hardship, net adoption as an educational tool will go through the roof.

Super high-quality net video is coming a lot faster than many realize. The technology already exists to make it happen cost-effectively without laying additional fiber.

In the meantime, we have to keep fighting the good fight!

Grassroots showed up when McCain came here the other day to spread the message, and the elderly still said they were swayed by just listening to McCain speak...

You mean the old people that are going to die leaving my family and me with a country $9.5 Trillion dollars in debt? OK, who should we blame?

Stop looking for people to blame Damn it!

Get off of the F**king computer and begin fixing what's wrong!

I am so sick of the "I'm entitled to a better world and higher,
cleaner standard of living" mealy mouthed younger crowd.

If you don't like the way things are change them!
Stop your bitching and fix it or STFU!

Old people are stupid? My grandparents fought for workers/childrens/civil rights all their lives. Grandpa took at least one college course per year until he went into the hospital and died of cancer. Grandma did the same, and until she finally succumbed to senility a few years before she died (just shy of 100 - the family joke is she didn't want to get the congratulatory letter Bush sends to 100 year-olds) she was protesting in the streets and working on a book about literacy.

My husband's mom is elderly. She's sharp as a tack, and highly concerned about world affairs. My mom is only in her 60's. She usually votes Democratic, but I've got her listening to Paul's message, and she's strongly considering him if he makes it to the national ballot.

There also seems to be a misconception about Florida. Yes, there are a lot of areas with a large elderly population. But who do you think provides all the services for them? I'm here in Orlando and we have a good strata of all ages, which if anything is topheavy on the 20-45 population.

And honestly, based on the signs and the folks I've talked to, I'm a bit suspicious of the low vote tally for Paul in Orange County. But then again, I'd say the majority of voters here lean Democrat or thoroughly disgusted independent. (Who didn't get to vote in the primaries.)

I was in the Vietnam war and from that time till now, I can't recall one single election where we actually had a choice. This is the first time we have had a choice. So I can't blame my parents for not getting the right person in the White House. How were they supposed to do that when there was no choice?

If there was a choice, please tell me who in the past 50 years were they supposed to vote for and didn't.

Yes, it is really the media that has made this a big problem. Most people actually believe the media is telling them the truth. It was not till just recently I realized how biased the media actually is. Now when you try to tell somebody the media is just propaganda, they will think to themselves, this guy is a nut. He is one of those tin hat paranoid people who thinks the media is conspiring to put a certain presidential candidate in the White House.

So it is very hard to convince people they are being lied to every day when they watch the news on the television or read a major news paper. You can't blame the people for what they have been brainwashed to believe. It is almost impossible to convince them of the truth.

I am retired and my kids are grown. My mother is still alive. When she dies, is she going to be responsible for leaving the country in such bad shape for the poor young people. Or is it going to be my fault when I die. I need to get this straight. My mother grew up without electricity. I can remember when there was no tv much less computers. My parents survived WW11 and I survived Vietnam. I am sorry that these generations didn't fix everything for these whiny kids to inherit. I guess they are going to have to do something on their own. Make it perfect though or your kids will blame you for the whole damn mess when they come along.

A lot of the elderly population remembers WWII and the after-effects of it. They grew up with a big-government, powerful military, intervening America. There's simply a breakdown in political logic; assuming linearity, last-event influences, and snapshot logic.

I am 50+ and feel that young people are getting ripped off in many areas and usually government is involved. College tuition costs are ridiculous and many students are going to be saddled with paying that debt back the rest of their lives. Medical insurance premiums are also ridiculous. Legal fees are out of control. Who bears responsibility for this mess? Certainly not young people. Ross Perot warned about the influence of lobbyists in D.C.. Why the hell didn't people listen? Also, didn't McCain hint about a draft?

Some "old" people are turned off by the way young people act. (Chasing MSM hosts, throwing F-bombs in public, etc.) Maybe they think if this is the kind of support R.P. has, I dont want any part of it. So, lets blame the "young people."

And they have not realized that because of 60 years of a militarily powerful intervening America, anti-Americanism has been silently but steadily growing year by year around the world, and has become the biggest threat to the safety and security of the country they love.

(I hasten to add that I am not blaming older people - a lot of young and middle aged people have not woken up to the reality either.)

I put in countless hours trying to inform the public ...they just dont care whats going to happen in this country because they wont be here

Sorry, I have this crazy belief called "personal responsibility". Something old people like talking a lot about actually. And I am not old.

They choose not to learn to use a computer. They choose to believe whatever the television tells them.

The media forces nobody. Take responsibility!

There are so many factors involved, it's hard to blame anybody. But... Social Security State, Hanging Chads State, Bush State... we just have to keep spreading the message.

Instead of blaming old people, one should be trying to win over old people. I don't think there are that many people in this country who wouldn't be receptive to at least some part of Ron Paul's message. We just need to focus on the presentation.

I think older people do have to take the responsibility for what has happened.

Look at the world that is being handed to the young.

Every generation should do better than the one before, not worse.

And that is the responsibility of the older generation to see that it happens.

It's time to take responsibility and give the young people a good inheritance.

Vote Ron Paul!!
