Shouldn't we be getting ready Rand for a contested convention?

If the RNC changes the rules to completely we can then get a whole bunch of Rand supporters to the convention and vote for Rand Paul. He can then appoint Donald Trump as his running mate to finance his attack ads against Hillary. Once elected President he fires Donald Trump and appoints Tom Woods as VP.

There are not a ton of Rand supporters. If there were, he'd have lasted beyond one state.

GOP does not like Rand. There will be no contested convention.

I'm on board with this plan. Tell me what I have to do.

Do what we did in 2012 and win the State Conventions. It will give a head start and the RNC will see that we are the only ones serious about stopping Donald Trump for a contested convention.

This is exactly what should have been going on. Instead of working to elect delegates, regardless of what may or may not happen at the convention, RPF has instead been divided and distracted by people shilling for an authoritarian ghoul-endorsed candidate.

Then let's begin:D

Besides half the states voting already, you guys realize most of the delegate tricks that worked last time are blocked, right? In my own state, Minnesota, which had a Ron Paul delegate majority last time, delegates are now bound to the straw poll results to prevent another Ron Paul 2012 redux.

It was as longshot last time when Ron Paul kept lots of people energized until nearly the end. This time around, there's no support for Rand delegate fights outside a tiny number of people on this forum. There is no organic momentum remaining for Rand and it seems like he dropped out an eternity ago.

A much better option is funneling that energy into electing other liberty minded candidates.

So we get the State Conventions to change the rules and with Rand being friends with Mitch McConnell and the RNC wanting a contested convention what do we have to lose?

The organic momentum is John Kasich yesterday in Ohio. The RNC said the primary voters don't decide. What do we have to lose trying?

Rand could get Mitch McConnell to pull some strings as a personal favor for him.
Rand Paul doesn't have any political capital left, at least in Presidential politics. He may not be as damaged as Marco Rubot, but he doesn't exactly have any presidential leverage, either.

See, thinking like this is why the Liberty movement is lost. Do you not realize by now that the GOP will NEVER allow Ron, Rand or ANY liberty advocate to get the nomination? WAKE UP FFS!

Here's a better plan:

1) Sit back and watch the wrecking ball destroy the GOP. Support it, even if it violates your "principles".
2) In the mean time, capitalize on this once-in-a-lifetime opening by simultaneously creating a NEW "conservative" (anti-democrat) party that resembles the GOP, but without the cronyism and corruption that people have caught onto and are sick of. Make it something not too radical for the masses to digest initially.
3) Get candidates on the ballot in all local and state races. This will serve as the electorate's natural alternative to the now discredited (and hopefully defunct) Republican party.
4) Win.
5) Restore Liberty.

The new party should be founded upon rules that will never allow it to be co-opted and corrupted.

Yes! Let's get a secret delegate strategy going!

We can still win this!

Guys, do it. Be a delegate if you can.

I hope that Rand-supporters DO fight to be delegates!
Everything is so up in the air as far as convention rules are concerned.

Look at the wildly different stories members of the RNC are putting out there…

- “You can nominate someone with one delegate”
- “No delegates are bound. You can vote your conscience!”
- “Throw out the 1500 page convention rule book and use Robert’s rules instead!” (as if Robert’s Rules means they can’t cheat! )

Sounds like they want to maintain utter confusion.
I think they're flummoxed and don’t know how they're going to handle the convention.

Some of the cheating that occurred in 2012 has begun to leak out in the media - i.e. breitbart has recently done at least two stories about the Ron Paul Rule - whereas in 2012, it was totally ignored. And didn’t a Paul-hating editor just quit breitbart? (Shapiro) The RNC may not be able to get away with pulling all the same tricks they did last time.

Certainly they will be changing rules, but I bet there will need to be more improvising come the week of the convention.

Former Ron Paul delegates will be the smartest, most knowledgable grassroots people there and possibly the best equipped to get on the rules committee and direct other grassroots people - set them wise. (and avoid using the bus the day of important votes!)

When it all falls apart, Paul supporters ought to be there to pick up the pieces and dump out the trash!
