Roll call will be up shortly, just caught this on CSPAN2.

Debate will begin later today and continue throughout the month according to Sen. Schumer.

The fix is in. Boehner is already talking about passing it in the House. King is trying to pressure him by convening a special conference. He needs 50 signatures to do it. Speakers can be removed in special conferences. Word is he has the signatures.

Really bad.

I can't believe the GOP are going to give Obama an immigration bill like this.

The only way to stop it is to threaten Boehner or force him out through a special conference.

I think so too, though the description on the CSPAN banner was said to "limit debate." I think there are several stages for "debate," and this cloture vote was to clear the first hurdle to get into the meat of debate.

This cloture motion was to limit debate on the motion to proceed. This means that they can't go on forever debating the motion to proceed. So right now, they are "supposedly" debating whether to proceed or not.

The senate thing is a done deal and has been for a while. The action is in the House. Boehner has to be removed before he can ram it through or at least sufficiently threatened to back down. King is talking about a special conference and claims to have the 50 signatures.

It was a vote to limit debate on the motion to proceed.

I think this is how the votes will play out:

1. Motion to Invoke Cloture on the Motion to Proceed to S. 744
2. Motion to Proceed to S. 744
3. Motion to Invoke Cloture on S. 744
4. Passage of S. 744

The whole thing is a done deal. whatever they've got will pass with 65-68 votes.

The action is in the House where Boehner is sendng mixed signals and where King is threatening to lead a coup via a special conference if he tries anything. Boehner was on TV this morning talking about immigration and King was in National Review threatening him with a special conference and claiming he had 50 signatures.

Tough to figure out what' going to happen but I dont believe most of the conference trust Boehner after he sold them out 3-4 times so far this year with Democrat votes. Farm bill food stamps is also proving contentious. I suspect they;re getting sick of him ramming stuff through and will draw a line on immigration. The debt ceiling also looms large.

I think the biometric things in the bill is the whole point, they could care less about immigration. Just about more control and chipping us like the cattle they think we are.

I will be optimistic.....Crossing fingers! I think your probably right. I know (RINO) Candice Miller will vote with Boehner (Tyrants)!

The immigration amnesty is a disaster on an unimaginable scale. And not because of E-verify of national id or whatever, but because it creates a path to citizenship for 12+ million of impoverished, mostly illiterate Mexican peasants and the members of their families. They will become a part of American electorate. But how many of them do you think will care about our issues? How many of them will even understand what we're saying? lol How many of them will instead will vote for whoever Democratic politician that offers them the biggest amount of stuff?

We're looking at a permanent progressive majority here. Now the neocons may be good with it, but why would Rand Paul even consider voting for this crap?

The biometric stuff scares me more than the actual amnesty.

That's a very narrow-minded view, supermario21. Have you heard of Julian Castro? This will be your next President if this thing gets through. Under Castro administration, biometric id will be least of your problems.

We already have de facto amnesty and as a bonus all the immigrants think we're racist assholes. We're done either way. Best thing to do is start courting them. So the real problem IS the big brother identification crap.
