Score 60 new voters!!!!! YES! (My speech to Republicans)

First of all great job, and I can certainly share your frustrations with the Truthers that seem ever so prevalent in our campaign. I definitely never used them like you did as foil, that was some great work there.

To the rest of the posters,

What we all need to realize is that our own personal beliefs ARE NOT appropriate to share with anyone when promoting Ron Paul unless they coincide with what Ron Paul believes or what you audience wants to hear. What Landon did here was perfect; that's exactly the kind of message you win Republicans over with. Most of our VOTERS (I said voters, not supporters) are Republicans who will likely vote Republican in the general. It seems that so many of you fail to realize we are running in the Republican primary. While that personally doesn't describe me as well, you have to realize it DOES describe both a majority of our voters and even more of our target audience.

I understand many of you aren't happy about that, but in the Republican nomination run, you have to realize that you're out of your element and you neighborhood so to speak. You need to realize you have to do the say the right words and even do the superficial things that impress your target audience: Republican primary voters.

I know it's much easier for some of us to do it than others, some of us actually ARE Republicans and act, dress, and talk like them. How we just naturally go about our business, always wearing suits or dresses at events when we represent Paul, having conservative hairstyles, talking about how the Democrats will tax us out of existence are exactly the right ways to conduct ourselves around other Republicans. It may not be fair that we can be more ourselves and other Ron Paul supporters can't, but life isn't fair. The potential voters don't care about individualism and freedom of expression like we do; they support people that look and act like they do. We all need to realize this, and so either suck it up and give our audience what it wants or step aside and let someone talk who will do it.

Haha!! Yes! *Does Dance*

I'm the main Arkansas organizer, and i've been going to Republican meetings and diners across the state... every one I can attend!

Tonight I went to the Boone County Republican meeting with 20 fellow RP supporters for a total of 80 people. After the meeting issues were taken care of, the chairman gave me the floor.

I have a 4 min stump speech on Paul’s positions and on returning dignity and conservatism to the party. I started it off with my “I don’t look conservative I look like I came from Berkeley” Joke… It was ok, not my best speech, but I get no sleep and was tired.

Sadly I had to step out for a min to organize things for a RP meeting Tuesday. When I got back, a RP supporter was up talking about the CFR... (Oh shit!) A concerned older republican asked a very good question, and that was if RP doesn't get the nomination, would we be there to support the Republicans against the Democrats. Two more of our people got up and started heckling the guy about the "globalist elite", completely ignoring the man’s question.

The man was pissed, and his friends and fellow republicans were getting annoyed. Right when the yelling was about to start I stopped raising my hand and just got up and announced over my own guy:

"Ok, I run the local as well as the state grassroots... (loudmouth shuts up) I've put alot of blood, sweet, tears, and money into this campaign. (loudmouth gets asked to leave) I stay up all night working for this man because I love my country too much to see it fall. I'm about as strong of Ron Paul supporter as you can get… but come election day, I know another Democrat will destroy our country. (applaud) …and if I Ron Paul isn't the nominee, I know one thing for certain, ANY Republican is better than Any Democrat, ANY day... (Cheers) (looking at the guy who asked the question) And I will promise you right now that there is no way my vote is going to be cast for anyone but Republican. (More Cheers)

The thing I am most worried about, and what you probably already know is… We are in some serious trouble. The Democrats have the upper hand on us. We got kicked out of power in 2006 for runaway spending, because of ethical breaches, and we lost our confidence as a party to stand up for our ideals of limited government and free enterprise. I’m sure many of you are in favor of staying in Iraq, as are most of the Republican candidates, but we are walking into this election slaughter with 75% of the population against the occupation. What chance does a Pro-war Republican have against Obama or Hillary? If you want to be really serious about keeping a Democrat out of the Whitehouse, vote for a man who won’t polarize the rest of the nation against us, but instead will revitalize the love of true conservatism in this country. The country I love so much… Thankyou, (applaud)”

Every single person who attended that meeting had to double check my name, tell me they loved what I said, and tell me that they would be voting Ron Paul come the 5th… Every one of them… It got even better because two of the people who attended were both running for state senate seats and asked if I could get in touch with them some time.

YES!!!!!!!! Score!!!

Oh and btw... QUIT TALKING ABOUT THE DAMN GLOBAL ELITE AND THE CFR! Republicans dont give a shit!

Good job :D

I agree with what you said. Some Paul supporters just don't understand politics.

Its why I made the "I don't look conservative" joke... I even dressed like that^^^

First impressions mean alot, but if you can include a shock factor with it, it makes more of an impact and gives even older voters a "I can make him better" syndrome. (the kind you find with girls you pick bad boyfriends)

And people thought I was crasy for dressing like that and trying to talk to republicans...

Yes it's true, ANY Republican is better than all the Democrats....

I mean the war is going to end eventually either way....

But the Democrats want socialized medicine, higher taxes, more regulation, more laws, and bigger government....

Once you get into socialized medicine....getting out of it is nearly impossible

There are no Republicans running my man. Neo-cons are Democrats and vice versa.

I would say that you're right in general, but in John McCain we have one who is at least equally bad as a Democrat. And if he is given the nomination I may find myself voting for a Democrat, something I never would have done before.

inspiring story, to say the least.

win people by treating them how you would like to be treated yourself

You obviously did a marvelous job then, but I hope you realize you put yourself at a disadvantage by doing that. I doubt that most people could use humor as you did to diffuse potential concerns. As I'm sure you would agree, in life it's normally easier and more effective to keep yourself out of positions which require explaining. I will qualify what I previously posted in that having the right message to give Republicans is by far the best thing we can do, but I hope no one fools themselves: appearance matters a lot in this world.

It definitely seems like you like to put yourself in difficult situations so you can overcome the odds though and make your success even more impressive. ;)

Excellent job!

Everone--please keep in mind what you jsut read here.

When LandonCook spoke from his heart and soul, PEOPLE responded!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you Landon. :)

No I wouldn't advise it for everyone.
I've had alot of practice at my "shock and Aw" political tactics, my dad is a big businessman, and I play in a rock band... But at the same time, I love business, economics, and politics.... and have never bowed to societies demands for me. I figure I will in a few years, after the young wares off of me. Then after everyone already knows me and sees the transformation... yeah... lol

Yes, dude, this is what EVERY Ron Paul supporter should be doing!! AND, I love the point you made at the end about shutting up with the global elite cfr shit.

First off I congratulate you.

Some RP supporters need to know that CFR, NAU, and other shit that sounds like conspiracy theories will not win over the base. And WE DO NEED SOME OF THEM if we want to win.

You may wish to rephrase that correctly unless that is what you meant. because it looks to me like you are sacrificing a voter for a potential voter. If that is the issue as to why they are votig for Ron then kudos to them..because at the bottom core of that "blithering" about "conspiracy theories" is a respect for a man who bends no knee to any Ivory Tower collective of powermongers. Sounds to me that if they can target the message they are a more worthy voter (one who thinks beyond in the box issues which are really crucial to a proper understanding of the political dynamic) with a higher moral standard than simple rah rah team players. Ron got where he did and deserves the admiration he has garnered for his high moral ground and his willingness to look at and digest all inds of pertnent inform, ation, in r out of the box.

Best Regards
Randy

QFT!! I often wonder if there's something about the Ron Paul campaign that attracts people with no tact or the ability to read people.

If RP does not win, I write him in, but no way I am voting for another republican.

Same with Me also! When fellow Republicans on Republican websites such as FreeRepublic and etc etc call ron paul surporters kooks and nutsjobs theres no way I will vote for another republican ever again.

I will not vote for any of the republicans. Paul or nothing!

The GOP doesn't give Paul much respect, and I already despise them from Bush and Company.

The republicans are going to sink in 2008.

I am not casting my vote for anyone other than a republican.

...that republican happens to be Ron Paul. Write in or not, he's the only TRUE republican.

I agree. ^ The other candidates running for President *aren't* Republicans in the true sense of the word. :D
