Sarah Palin's endorsements

I know many aren't a fan of her. I consider her a "fellow traveler." The fact is that she has a huge influence on the elections, and she is coming out with a string of endorsements on her Facebook page:
https://www.facebook.com/sarahpalin

I remember vetting TW Shannon earlier, and not listing him as a liberty candidate because of positions lacking on national defense and civil liberties. He had added both of those and more to his website:

Her endorsements are worth keeping an eye on. The opportunity for a lot of fellow travelers to get elected will be a positive for liberty.

Also, get on her page and plug some liberty candidates for endorsements! I think she could be a huge boost for people like Brannon and Bright.

I absolutely think she means well. She's made mistakes, sure, but so have all of us too.

She endorsed Kelly Ayotte, Deb Fischer, Orrin Hatch, etc. Her endorsement means nothing to me if she gives it to RINO trash like them.

Yes, but wouldn't we like it to go to people that are more liberty-oriented? Her endorsement brings attention and money, which is what our candidates need.

Oklahoma looks like it will be tough. Much like Rubio, conservatives are willing to give Shannon a pass on his establishment background because of his ethnicity and the fact his main rival (Lankford) is less conservative. I hope Rand jumps into this Senate race ASAP and endorses Brogdon.

Maybe you're right, but please elaborate as to why. I haven't had a chance to comb through his voting record yet.

Defend your position. Saying someone is garbage is not a well-thought out and researched argument.

I don't know much, but what I do know isn't good. He interned for Tom Cole, he praised Mary Fallin's leadership, and he's being touted by the GOP leadership (who he commonly retweets).

Here's things he has said:

If a runoff is forced TW will have to consider why he is wrong on liberty issues and look at Brogdon's positions.

Also in 2016 the winner will have to defend the Senate seat from a possible challenge from Bridenstine who will have more terms under his belt.

Inhofe may retire one day. Maybe early like Coburn if we get a GOP president.

Brogdon:
One of the leaders in the fight against real id.
One of the leaders in the fight against the nafta superhighway.
Overall, in addition to the typical Republican red meat stuff, is very anti-globalist and supports civil liberties.
Endorsed and campaigned for Ron Paul. (see the Governor election thread for videos)

Meanwhile, shannon has done nothing but carry water for the drone queen. He has consistently made sure that good legislation has been killed in committee.

Of course, don't forget that we pretty much have a nice slate of worthwhile Liberty Candidates here in OK:
Randy Brogdon - US Senate
Robert Hubbard - CD3 primary
Mark Thomas - State Senate
Kenny Bob Tapp - State House
The filing deadline is still a month away, so this list will probably grow to include candidates for CD5 and Governor.

It seems to me that while Brogdon is surely purer than Shannon, Shannon should certainly be considered an ally. Especially now with the Palin endorsement, he likely has a much better chance of beating horrible rino Lankford. I think Shannon would be pretty close to Mike Lee on liberty issues.

At a quick glance his voting record seems pretty good. Not perfect but overall really good. Seems to love tax cuts/guns and voted to prohibit compliance with Agenda 21. His issues page on his website looks solid as well. Says he's totally opposed to spying, we shouldn't be the world's police and wants to abolish the Dept. of Education.

You're missing the point. Yes, shannon has said a lot of the right things, and his voting record is decent - no question about that. But it's what he has done BEHIND THE SCENES AND UNDER THE TABLE that is really at issue here. You need to look at what legislation he has BLOCKED, how he has behaved IN COMMITTEE rather than on the House floor. These actions are a lot more difficult to present a record of, but they are there. Ask any of our other resident Okies who have been here longer than myself.

My guess would be a Nancy Mace endorsement in South Carolina, seeing as she has a track record of endorsing the woman in the race.

I would be shocked if she endorsed Mace because Palin is friends with Nikki Haley and Haley hates Mace.

I could see her getting behind McDaniel, Sasse and maybe Joni Ernst/Karen Handel since she does seem to love endorsing female candidates.

I'm glad I'm not the only that recognizes her sexist, affirmative action endorsements. If there's a woman in a close race, Palin will endorse her.

Fair enough, I'm not from OK so will defer to you on that. All i'm saying is the Palin endorsement is a BIG thing as she is one of the few people that can actually move numbers with an endorsement. That combined with the fact that I could see a lot of the outside groups getting behind Shannon because he's charismatic, accomplished, generally conservative and many would see it as a big deal for the GOP to elect another african american Senator.

My main point is simply that none of this bodes well for Brogdon. He's not totally out, but it seems like Shannon will become the candidate to take on Lankford. Just my 2 cents.
