Santorum asks for debt relief for his campaign

Thank you to everyone that participated in last night's conference call. We had over 4,000 supporters from the campaign listening in! What a real testament to the grassroots family we built during the campaign and the hopes we share for the future.

As I said last evening I am very excited about the possibilities for what we can continue to accomplish together and I am not backing down from the fight for our conservative ideals. We must and will focus on energizing conservatives so our values are reflected in our Party platform and our national discourse. If we are going to defeat Barack Obama and restore our conservative principles to government we must work together or we will never succeed.

But more to the point, I thought this guy was conservative? Debt isn't conservative. If he can't run his Campaign well enough to not be in debt, how do we expect him to run the government?

I really do think it's a fair question, and Newt should be asked it as well.

um, he did end his campaign when he started going into debt, at least, unlike Newt ($4 million in debt and counting).

My point being, he has ended his campaign and I welcome his supporters looking into Ron as the last conservative fighting against Romney.

There's a lot of conflicting reports though, on if he had debt...versus how much money he had on HAND. That's the difference. A campaign can have debt, but also have the funds to pay that debt.

Santorum's campaign was saying they would report over $1 million "cash-on-hand", before he dropped out...then when he dropped out, he continued to ask for more money. So it's not really clear why.

If he can't get the debt paid off by his supporters, hes' going to end up endorsing Romney to get it paid off by Romney's campaign or the the RNC.

I think he wants to keep it for other efforts and have debt paid off otherwise. Or maybe he has more debt than cash on hand. We'll find out when the reports come out.

Here's the part that is a little bit more interesting. Santorum declined to endorse Romney, and told his supporters to vote their conscience. Have to wonder if there isn't an alterior motive there, but at least he's not helping Romney gain any steam:

many possibilities. He could be maintaining his leverage for a Romney deal, or could want to continue being an anti Romney for a future bid and have a pac like Ron did and Huck did to build organization for future races. We'll see.

If Santorum endorses Ron Paul, then we could do a 'Save Santorum money bomb'....the reason for this is instead of having one camp fighting Romney, in a sense it would be two.
