Rush is no dummy. in 20 plus years on the air, he rarely has guests. Having him on the show was stellar. He knows which way the wind is blowing after that epic speech.

Rush just mentioned Rand's filibuster as an example of his points today on Open Line Friday
along with Obama's scare tactics littany about the 3% drop in federal spending aka sequestration

government growing geometrically
yet nothing gets fixed according to them . . . the Dimocrats

Just said 'nobody has been able to figure out a way to defeat the liberals...well actually there is....conservatism...and you saw a little of that with Rand Paul's filibuster.'

Rush was never a Neocon, but he did carry the water for the Neocons which he later admitted. So we need to keep an eye on him.

it's great that like 15 million people are hearing him mention Rand Paul non stop for the last few days.

Rush is helping us reach people we can only dream of.

Rush is a businessman. And he's reading his market well.

I remember a 60 minute interview around 1990 early in his career, where he explcitly said "This is a business. My goal is to grab the biggest audience I can and to hold onto it for as long as I can so I can charge advertisers confiscatory prices". I've never forgotten that.

I believe he has core beliefs, but I also know he does what he does to make money.

in Radio they are called Arbitron ratings . . . Rush's piece of the market which is huge in so many markets

which brings me to a question I have . . .

What were the Nielsen (TV) ratings for the day and evening of March 6-7 for CSPAN2 . . . ?
maybe their biggest ever I thinks . . .

Rush getting to callers now . . . would love calls about Rand waiting in the queue now Rush !

This^^ If you've ever read his books or essays, Rush clearly isn't a Trotskyite neocon. He just doesn't have the rhetorical skills or general knowledge or style. However, he's more than willing to allow his show and literature to be propaganda outlets for neocons. Back when I actually cared about the show, he did interviews with several notable neocons. Wolfowitz comes to mind, IIRC. Also plenty of useful tools for neocons like Cheney and Rumsfeld.

Did he really call them neocons???

I remember him saying years ago that neo-con was just disparaging term for "Jew".

Rush holds the belief (that most other people in the party do) that the worst Republican is still better than any Democrat. While that belief makes a lot of libertarians cringe, he does have a point. Take Lindsey Graham for example (I personally cannot stand the guy), but when you look at his voting record it is a hell of a lot better than say Harry Reid's. So Rush will give time to a Graham, all the while bashing Reid, which he views as the true enemy of conservatism.
