The new Quinniapac poll has

Romney 25%
Palin 15 %
Cain 9 %
Paul 8%
Gingrich 8%

In their last poll, Paul had 5%. Ron Paul's average, as calculated by realclearpolitics.com, is 9%. Ideally, he starts breaking 9% in future polls, in order to bring that number higher.
I don't know what the results are without Palin, but they did head to head matchups with Obama as well. They may not have compared Obama and Paul, not sure.
Anyone have the full results?

EDIT: Here they are...looks like they didn't even poll it without Palin. http://www.quinnipiac.edu/x1295.xml?ReleaseID=1608

Be interesting to see what the results are w/out Palin. Probably above 10%.

He has broken 9, but went down this week due to some smears that got traction, I suspect.

Looking at the Real Clear Politics Poll Tracker

Ron Paul average has gone up to 9% overall. He is 4th place overall and second of those announced as candidates. At what point will polling ONLY include actual candidates so as not to skew results I wonder?

Not until after Labor Day. The desperate establishment has started putting out a meme that the candidate pool won't really be set until after Labor day, to give their guys time to get some traction, and to get time to recruit new candidates.

Ron has to play up the narrative that he is the only one that can be trusted with the economy, and not only that, he must have message DISCIPLINE!

Agreed.

I agree totally, but Ron can't let the MSM with the establishments back act as if Hermain Cain is some kind of economic guru because that's the guy they're using to cut into Ron's economics support. Along with establishing himself as being the only one that can be trusted, if this debate is the same as the last one in the MSM's attempt at trying to establish Cain as an economics professor Ron needs to pounce on the fact that Cain worked as chairman for the very people that got us in this mess. I really believe Cain is hurting Ron with those supporters. I know a strong Ron Paul supporter in 08 is actually backing Cain right now due to FU Frank Luntz fake focus group. Ron needs to get as aggressive as Rand.

That will never happen. Listen to his interview on the day of the moneybomb with Wes Messemore, and he made it very clear- he doesn't like to get personal. All of these emails that "Ron Paul" is sending out attacking Romney for Romneycare is not actually Ron Paul. Don't be discouraged though, if Ron wants to win, he knows what he will need to do in order to win.

When will the MSM report the truth about Herman Cain's economic ignorance? This is a man who said the housing bubble wouldn't burst, and as late as May '08 insisted we weren't on the brink of a recession. He blamed the "libural media" for distorting economic reports because they hated Bush! All they (MSM) have to do is go back and look at his writings and radio rants to see he's a box of rocks when it comes to the economy. Here's just a small sample of his economic ignorance:

I disagree. Most people are aware he's been right on the economy...his weakness lies in his perceived "softness" of national defense and foreign policy. This is what he needs to focus on, and the campaign needs to address it.

There's a reason why the smears are mainly in this area and not economics.

True.

My $.02 ... He should just say no.
Do you think heroin should be legal? No.
You think prostitution should be legal, right? No.
Recently you said that you thought it was bad that we got Osama. No I didn't.

I think Ron is too quick to jump to defending the principle behind what is being asked. He needs to focus on the specific question being asked and provide no more info than necessary on these questions. I think he just needs to force the opponent (interviewer, fellow ron paul supporter to be, etc) to elaborate. Because chances are, they will make Ron's case for him in doing so.

"Ron Paul is crazy/racist/etc"......I find it helpful to take a breath myself, then ask the person "why?" "what makes you say that?". They usually have no response or only the shallowest (most easily defeated) talking point. I find that playing dumb on the sensitive issues works really well. "Where did you hear that he eats babies?" "I've never heard that he is really an alien....please elaborate." "Wow. I had no idea he parties with Satan....can you show me where you found that?"

He needs to amp up the fact that after he brings the troops home, he'll use them to properly secure our borders.

This.

A little immigration-hawking would definitely help. Especially seeing how no other candidates are bringing up the topic.

These polls never fail to baffle me. Why on Earth would anyone in their right mind even consider Sarah Palin a serious contender for the White House? To the American people even know who she is, or do they just think she's pretty and accept the sound bite news they're fed. This is appalling.

Well if he was a strong Paul supporter 4 years ago and switched to Cain,he is an idiot who hasn't understood freedom and hard money at all.

Uh, actually, he should say yes, because he understands that one of the most basic tenets of liberty is that you, not the government, own your own body, and because he understands that prohibition makes these problems far, far worse, and that legislating personal morality is neither moral nor effective.

Leaders say what's right, and change the public debate, as paul has. Slimeball politicos say whatever they think will be popular.

It sounds a lot like some want RP to morph from a principled leader in defending liberty to just another shill who will say anything to get elected.

I think you just answered your own question.

Democracy is where masses of ignorant, arrogant people run the lives and finances of people they don't know or understand, based on soundbytes from con-men with ulterior motives.
