Ron Paul on Alex Jones, "I'm ambivalent about what to do next and undecided."

Optimistic Prediction:

He's said he's 50-50. I think CPAC will be good for him. It's good to actually know the physical amount of support his message has, this will be a great reminder. If He wins CPAC straw poll as much as he won last time, or more - He will be a 60-40.

And by the time of March or April. The field of candidates will begin to pan out and he will decide then.

If he commits, he commits. He is still deciding. It's an ugly process, what they do to him when he runs. And he has his committee now, which he has wanted forever.

I was all set to move on Ron Paul Revolution II, but...

...but this thread really took the wind out of my sails. Well, for what it's worth, here is something I have been circulating, hoping to get something going...

==============================================

I’m working on a YouTube video to hopefully inspire a viral Sign Bomb on the day of Ron Paul’s announcement of his candidacy. But looking at the calendar, time is getting tight and the video is at least a couple of days away. Below is the script for the video which serves as a basic outline of a plan for a BIG KICKOFF to Ron Paul Revolution II. I think the best thing to do is put it out there right away and hope that people will agree with the vision and want to make it a reality.

Here in Los Angeles we are already planning a sign making meetup for next weekend. We have someone who can store the signs and have them ready to go. We already have a couple of favorite spots from Revolution I. We’ll shoot and YouTube our sign making meetup and hopefully inspire others to do so.

Please read the following and consider helping make it a reality.

================================================

Ron Paul is widely expected to announce his candidacy for President of the United States in mid February at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC). In 2007, his run for the White House sparked an historic grassroots political movement that came to call itself “The Ron Paul Revolution”. Since that time, the landscape of American politics has been forever changed as a result. The Tea Party movement and the campaign to Audit and Repeal the Federal Reserve Bank as well as the historic change in Congress in the last election are all direct outgrowths of the Ron Paul Revolution. The core principles and issues that powered it are now deep in the public consciousness: constitutional power, big government, debt, taxation and personal liberty were once off limits to discussion and are now integral to the national discourse thanks to the personal action of countless Americans during the Ron Paul 2008 campaign.

History does not repeat itself but it does sometimes rhyme. In a few days we get a second chance at making history. Were you involved last time? Did you miss the chance to Be a Part of It? Our time has now come!

Let’s prepare NOW to give Ron Paul Revolution II a BIG KICKOFF.

Here’s the plan:

On the day that Ron Paul announces, let’s immediately show the country that he has the support to win. Let’s have a national sign and banner day that captures the attention of the citizens and the media.

In order to accomplish this, we must prepare now.

1. Hold local sign and banner making meetups as soon as possible. Build a big cache of visual ammo that can be passed out to the troops when the time is right. If you are not among a community of Ron Paul supporters, look online and find one or create one for your local community yourself. But even if you are a lone individual on a street corner that day, you will be part of a much larger, national event.

2. Prepare printed materials for distribution to passing pedestrians and motorists.

3. Develop an email and telephone list or online RSVP system of all those who want to show up for the sign bomb on the big day. Set up an email announcement or telephone tree or online calendar event to get the word out right away.

4. Designate a few key, high exposure locations as targets for Sign Bombing. Busy intersections are great for sign waving. Freeway overpasses are great for displaying big banners to oncoming traffic. Make sure that the predetermined locations are well known ahead of time.

5. At the end of the day, post your signs and banners in appropriate locations so that they will get exposure in the following days.

Imagine that you are an American on your way to work. You are listening the news on your car radio and you here a report about Texas Congressman Ron Paul’s announcement of his candidacy for President. Just then, you come to an intersection and there are 30 people holding “Ron Paul 2012” signs and chanting his name. One of them approaches your car and hands you a brochure. Who the heck is this guy? You need to know more and search the internet as soon as you get in to work.

6. Develop a telephone and email list of all local print, TV and radio media. Upon receiving the word, send a fax and email to the media telling them that large groups of people are at your preset locations waving Ron Paul signs.

7. At the Sign Bomb, take pictures and video. Send the pictures via email to the media on your mobile device. Call the media and tell them that a large group of people are at this location campaigning for Ron Paul.

8. When the event is over, if no media came out, bring copies of your pictures and video to the media and make yourself available for an interview in their studio.

Imagine that you are an American who has just returned home after a long day at work. You turn on the TV and the news reports that Ron Paul has announced his candidacy. They cut to a reporter standing at an intersection in a nearby city. He reports on the throng of Ron Paul supporters gathered behind him. Who the heck is this guy? You need to know more.

We are going for a nation wide, visible, immediate expression of support for Ron Paul that kicks his campaign off in a big way. We can do this, but in order to be successful we must get started right away. Make your signs. Set a spot. Get the word out. Rally the troops. Notify the media. Make it happen. Yes, we can.

Make it a celebration. Let it be a street party! Let’s put our gloves on, get in the ring and land a blow…

FOR LIBERTY!

It was 13 March 2007 that he "offcially" announced his run in 2007.

He was hinting about it for months before that, on various shows and interviews, including Jones' show.
January 11 2007 is when he announced his Exploratory Committee.

That said, it's all speculation on all of our parts, including "The Collins".

I suspect the only people that really would know one way or the other are Carol and Ron himself.
Everyone around him has been indicating by their actions that he was going to run, even though he hasn't 'made up his mind' yet.

I still think he's going to, and as I mentioned earlier, I just think the AJ interview was an off day for him.

Sure enough. The results of that were conclusive enough to announce his candidacy on 13 March, on CSpan.

I really really really hope you are right.

It was never my intent to knock everybody's dick in the dirt over this.

I'm hoping it does the opposite and gets everybody fired up to prove to Ron that we are behind him.

Probably the best post I've read to date since I've been on Ron Paul Forums. +Rep

I think in '08 Dr. Paul was certain that he wouldn't win the Presidency. He ran an educational campaign. Now he knows that if he runs, it will be to win. And there is a good chance he could get all the way to the general election, which would result in him winning (easily).

Remember what happened to the last real candidate we had in this country?

RFK had literally just won the primary when he was murdered.

Asking Ron Paul to do this is asking him to make the last act of his life a sacrifice for the rest of us. Think of all the things he'll miss out on. His wife, sons and daughters, his grandchildren. (even great-grandchildren?).

And what's the catch?

If he becomes president and lives the rest of his life unmolested, he will basically miss out on all of that anyway. Except now his family becomes a target of violence, too.

What I'm trying to say is,... no one can "ask" Ron Paul to do this. Not even Carol. I don't even know how a man can weigh the pros and cons of this. If it was me, i'd shit my pants and run and hide.

And for the rest of us, this is the beginning of the end of our Dr. Paul experience. We don't have much time left with him. I know a lot of us see him as something of a father figure. It is time for us to begin the transition from zealous followers to cunning r3VOLutionaries. Some of us have made that transition already. To be clear, a zealous follower works their ass off getting out the vote and educating his fellow man. A cunning r3VOLutionary requires no vote or violence, only volition. Their methods and tactics rarely draw any mass attention and yet their fruits greatly effect us all. They are the embodiment of the cause of Freedom.

Let us hope that we never have to make the transition from cunning r3VOLutionary to freedom fighter.

Hopefully the USD collapses while Obama is still in office. The sooner the better. THAT would guarantee a Ron Run.

Do everything you can to help precipitate the collapse. Take all your fiat and convert to silver/gold bullion. Don't keep any money in the bank. Stop using credit cards. Cash out all paper retirement accounts: 401K's, IRA's, stocks, etc... and buy food, guns, ammo, silver, gold. Just all out assault the paper system.

Double edged sword. It would GUARANTEE a Ron run, but also GUARANTEE that nobody would know he was running. It would also GUARANTEE that he wouldn't be able to fund his campaign, since he would have zero donations.

I have confidence that he will make the best decision possible. I know I'm new around here, but I don't think talking about him not running is good for morale.

I'm going to continue on like I have and act like I never heard him say that. ;) I'll continue to spread the good word of Dr. Paul and talk about him as if he is running.

Oh yeah. He was real excited about that.

sailingaway, If he ran - would he be able to keep his chairmanship and house seat?

If he runs for president, yes. There is a special law that was passed in Texas when LBJ ran which allows it. If he ran for Senate, no, he'd lose both. Which is why we don't really think he'll want to run for senate even if polls do have him statistically tied for first place in that contest right now.

It's a good attitude to have. Dr. Paul always referred to himself as a messenger. People would ask him how he did it (mustered such a following), and he would say "It wasn't me. It was the message." Our morale cannot be based on one man's actions. Think of what happened to the Civil Rights movement after MLK was killed. Certainly support Dr. Paul with all you heart if he runs or needs other help, but don't rely on him for orders or inspiration. Waiting for a man to inspire the masses is why most people don't take action. (why we've allowed this country to get this far gone). They don't seem to realize that Ron Paul isn't inspiring because he's intelligent, principled, kind, honest, or even a leader. Ron Paul is inspiring because he is an example of someone with a wonderful life, who forsakes that life for a single belief. - That all men should live free.

If you ask me (and no one has :) ), this movement isn't lacking a presidential candidate.

It's lacking real sacrifice.

To think of it in terms of economics. . .
- if you live beyond your means (i.e. on the freedoms of others via increasing government control)
- you will eventually have to live below your means (i.e. as a government slave or a roach eating freedom fighter)

This freedom movement, while moving quickly in the right direction and constantly learning how to live freer, is still borrowing from the government that enslaves it. The horses have already driven us off the cliff and yet we are still holding the reigns. The only option is to learn how to fly, which is possible if we'd just understand that there are no horses, no wagon, no ground, and no gravity. The only rules we are subject to are the ones we impose on ourselves.

We don't have to crash or die from pain. We just need to simplify our lives and focus.

Yeah ... but... without him we're not going to be noticed in this election cycle. I know what you're saying, and you're mostly right, it's just we do rely on him for motivation. It's sad but true, and it's hard to change that just by trying, but we should try anyway, you're right.

I still have my 08 bumper stickers and a sign that is about 15 x 5 feet or something from 08 as well! =) Just couldnt toss them out.

sent to Guantanamo to be raped and tortured

THAT might be a little extreme. The thought of Ron winning scares the hell out of me. The thought of him losing scares the hell out of me. All I have left is faith and hope that things can go right, that by some miracle things will change. It is going to take a cavalry riding in with him to make it work.
