Ron Paul made a good decision.

Ron Paul is the by far the smartest out of all the candidates. Especially in the economics department. Whatever he does with his money between now and super Tuesday is going to make history. I'm going to work hard and have faith.

I disagree. Lets all watch John McCain's donations, see how much he raises and how much advertising he can afford in all the upcoming states.

Ron Paul pretty much tied for 4th in NH, and what 3-4% from 3rd? Not disappointing at all for how much time he spent there VS. how much time other candidates spent there. The money put in VS the votes the came out was most likely GREATER for ron paul than anyone. And for what? 5 delegates?

Now is the time for a STRONG push. HUGE Advertising blitz, no one will be able to keep up, I promise. McCain won't raise enough from his victory to keep up.

I hope your right, but I think this reinvigorates McCains campaign and will bring hima bunch of new money. And guess what in EVERY Upcoming state on the Local and National news...all you will hear about this week is that McCain is now the frontrunner and Romney might be on the Ropes. 30 Million in Free Publicity McCain just reaped with this win.

I think spending 5 Million in Ads in one state to reap 30 Million in free nation advertising would have been a great investment.

The Ads in Iowa and NH arent about getting delegates, It's about reaping the tens of millions in free national media attention from winning.

I think he would have spent a lot more on Iowa and NH if he could have, considering how great an investment it is for a candidate like him, but something like 2/3 (probably more) of the money he's raised came in the closing months of '07. There just wasn't enough time for it to really have an effect, since you have to buy advertising so early.

It better be used to maximum effect in the coming states, however.

I couldn't disagree more. Why spend tons of money in NH? Because, a strong showing in NH would have energized the base (to give more) and brought new money into the campaign.

I think it is safe to assume that if he were spending money and his supporters were seeing forward progress - there would be no shortage of money to press on. I realize not everyone can give the max, but his 250,000 current donors cumulative max is nearly $600M (so even at $230 per donor avg. that's nearly $60M).

Campaign...spend the money now and more will follow - don't hoard it for Feb. 5th.

Good post there.

This is finally something I can agree with. Look guys everyone else (except fro Romney) is running out of money and will not be able to do ANYTHING come Super Tuesday.

Dunno about MI, but we will do 12-14 in SC. Now, Florida... Florida is going to be our first closed primary. This could mean a lot of things. All the votes we've been bleeding off to Obama will be forced to choose a Republican, for instance. Obviously Giuiani has been hitting Florida hard but, being the first CLOSED Primary who know?

Then, with a media blitz going into Feb 5th, who knows what will happen?

The only problem I have with this theory (and all the rest that center around Dr. Paul spending wisely) of this being a war of attrition is:

a.) doing well in either Iowa, NH or SC would have garnered EASILY 40MILLION IN FREE MSM ADVERTISING. A number, we simply can not raise at this point in time.

b.) perhaps most importantly, convinced COUNTLESS FENCE SITTERS that a vote for Dr. Paul is not a wasted vote and that the guy actually has a shot to win this thing (how do you think Huckatard gets 13% in NH?). PEOPLE WANT TO VOTE FOR THE WINNER.

c.) re-engergized the BASE - which right now, feels totally beat-up after not posting well in the most libertarian state in the entire UNION..

d.) Allowed Dr. Paul himself, to start transitioning from the 'education' phase of the message to the 'when i win this thing, things are gonna get changed and this is how I'm gonna change them' phase - which incidentally tends to bring on even more fence-sitters.

e.) Taken some heat off of HQ.. who right now, probably feel like they're being attacked on on sides - grassroots and MSM combined.

:(

Interesting, I hadn't thought of this. We all know Paul is probably sitting on 15+ million dollars CASH MONEY. Why spend every dime he has in the early states when everyone else is doing the same? Let them blow their wads and go home. Ron Paul for the long haul, LOL!

P.S. The FOX snub was like 5 million dollars in FREE ADVERTISING and gritty underdog status. :)

I suppose you also have to account for the message. How much of that supposed "30 million" in advertising would push a neo con that wants my un-born son to deal with iraq in the future?

If anything the time is now to do it. Paul didn't have 20 million in time enough to create, edit, contact, and push advertisements. Now he does.

I say its all up-hill. All it takes is 1 win from here on out and people will hear the message and never leave.

Does the campaign's paltry $300k investment in NH have anything to do with that email that came out from the campaign that said that any money not donated by Dec. 8th couldn't go toward the IA and NH campaigns?

I recall an email that went out in early December that said that the campaign needed money by Dec. 8th or they couldn't mount a very effective campaign for the first two states.

Am I remembering this accurately?

This was a huge problem. He's only had this money for about 3 weeks. He's only been a mainstream candidate for all of a month and even then he is still disregarded.

The thing is as Dr. Paul says is that he gets his power from the people not from special interests. As these other guys shot at the presidency looks bleak their supporters will dump them because its not about their message its about what they can get for their supporters. No one really cares what McCain, huck, or Romney have to say as long as they can get in office and keep the status quo.

Dr. Paul has people who will get disenchanted and give up too but its better to lose them early on and know who the real backers are. As long as we keep backing Dr. Paul and taking care of the money and the grassroots stuff then he can stay in the race indefinitely all the way up to the general election if we want him to. We just have to show that we want it bad enough. I have to admit i was a bit dejected myself but all I had to do was watch that speech tonight and I'm ready to go out there and see this thing through now. I can't guarantee that we will win but if not we will sow the seeds of the revolution that will take America back to where it needs to be. Years from now people will be saying "I'm a Ron Paul Republican" like they talk about being Reagan Republicans now.

+1 very good!

That is exactly why we need to be generating a steady revenue stream now because if he spends everything on Super Tuesday there are still about 20 states after that he will need cash for.
