Ehh ehh?

rofl!!!

Nice design and interesting thread. Agree with the tilt up comments.

Would you please post what your cut is off of the zazzle store and if any percentage goes to the campaign somehow. It may be on the site, but if so did not notice it and would be an interesting tidbit for this thread.

BTW -- We use the dove of peace in our graphics for R3publican.

Definitely a great point. Yes, in fact, the required mark up by Zazzle is 10%. My plan is that all of the proceeds that are gained from selling at Zazzle will go into creating larger quantities and higher quality merchandise on a custom e-commerce store. I plan on buying thousands of stickers, shirts, banners, and ensure that the quality is excellent. And since they're purchased in large quantities, the cost will be much more affordable than Zazzle, etc.

I put a note about this at http://www.zazzle.com/ronpauldesigns

The second way I'm raising funds is at http://ronpauldesigns.blogspot.com/p/shop.html through Chip-In. We can get high quality, weather-proof vinyl bumper stickers for $2 each if we can raise enough funds to buy in bulk. This also cover shipping, as well as enough funds to sustainably grow and purchase more, and large amounts of merchandise so that we can get as much of this stuff out into the public as possible.

OK, I didn't get that bit about shipping -- are you saying that covers shipping to us individually once the larger amount is purchased?

Justin, you should create a forum post on the Daily Paul. I'm sure you could get more support for your chip-in that way.

I will throw my advice in since I have done and am doing this right now:

First ask yourself what is your goal? Spread the message, money, etc.

To do this design in ONE color and in mass would cost over $6,000. Otherwise, this design will never get into anyone's hands. The production time on this design will be at least 4-6 weeks since it is new. Just the freight on the bumper stickers that I ordered was $340. And that was on a pallet to a commercial address.

The reason you don't see any retailers sell bumper stickers for $.17 is because they would lose money. Even the $.99 price is not seen anywhere. And Ron Paul 2012 will end at some point, how much will you be sitting on that didn't sell? We handed out for FREE over 3,000 shirts at the D.C. march in 2008. Do the math at $3 to $5 a shirt? How much did we lose? Can you afford to eat even $1,000 of inventory?

In 2008, I spent 80 plus hours a week for Ron Paul from May 2007 to Feb 2008. That time was spent on local, state, and national organizations. And another person worked full time on filling product orders. This will take up at least 20 hours a week of your time.

And most people only care about price. If you don't run this in bulk and get low prices, people won't buy. I can't tell you how much free stuff I have given away. Just last Thursday for Ron Paul's speech at Florida State University, I gave out hundreds of bumper stickers for free.

We didn't want to do this again. We lost a lot of money, and this is a massive headache. This year we did like everyone else and waited for the announcement for Ron Paul 2012. But it didn't happen. And as time went by, we got worried. We knew that design, production, and shipping takes a very long time. So in March I stepped up and did this again. My goal is simple: Get as many Ron Paul products out there as possible.

So call me, and I will help you at least set goals on funds. After you have the cash, I will have you talk to my vendors. But understand that these are high volume operations that only sell in bulk. I only buy the best products, and I would never sell something I wouldn't use.

Thank you for all your advice, and very much appreciated. I have some experience doing design and company building with other companies, but am certainly not an expert. Will be in touch about this.

Hi everyone,

Based on all of the helpful comments over the last week, I am proposing the following minor improvements to the overall concept:

- Eagle is cleaned up, with less ruffling in the feathers, and better distinction
- Eagle head is bulked up to look less like a vulture. More white added to the head, nose is slightly pointier.
- Eagle is now tilting up about 7 degrees. After much thought on this one, everyone made a really good point about this.
- "Ron Paul" text spacing slightly improved

Thanks for everyone's comments. I hope this addresses as many of the concerns as possible.

Also, has anyone listend to this recent interview on AntiWar Radio with Ron Paul? http://antiwar.com/radio/2011/04/23/rep-ron-paul-17/

If you are concerned about the "branding" concept for the campaign, please listen to this. It's not exact, but related to the idea that Ron is certainly against a top-down design/presentation strategy, and that the grassroots needs to develop these kinds of things. The context in this video relates to YouTube videos.

My thought is that this means the grassroots will really have to take control of this aspect, and we can't expect the campaign that adopt anyone's design strategy. If you like this particular design, and think it will help the campaign, then please help us out to spread the word and get the usage out there. It sounds like we'll need to put together a pretty large team if we want to make this a serious venture, and act as an unofficial department of the campaign.

improvements are subtle in a good way. definitely an improvement on what was already a great design. its sort of a shame that none of the money bomb money or campaign donations will go towards things like this design, when even a fraction of said donations could really lift the design's recognition and production off the ground. its hard to communicate to everyone in an organized way without SOME central planning. oh well. if i could pay using my checking account i would chipin but i have no real checks or paypal account:/ otherwise i am so pumped for the campaign and this brand gets me even more pumped because it feels so legit.

If they don't use it we should. If you max out to Ron you can't buy shirts and bumperstickers from his campaign store on top of that -- it is counted as part of the total. Last time I had to get my bumpersticker and shirts somewhere else. I don't know if Josh is interested in a 'Liberty Forest store' or whatever but people will want to get non-campaign stuff.

Thanks everyone. I'm pretty happy with the website design that the Campaign did for the exploratory committee. At least it's in a direction that looks professional.

My plan right now is to spread the design on the internet with the grassroots, then eventually develop an e-commerce website, if the Campaign does not adopt my work.

I just need help getting the word out by sharing these websites:

lol. Ya, we just need to think about new places to post it. I saw someone else post it on dailypaul.com and it got a lot of comments and clicks, so that's a place I haven't really focused on that new people might see it.

I do have to thank everyone for their comments to the design. Here's just a comparison of the progress on the Eagle design, considering all the comments that were given:

Now that I look back, the original Eagle does look a bit like a Vulture, and it definitely now looks like it was flying downward. That's what happens when you look at something for too long!

I'm already seeing the designs pop up in a lot of places, and btw the eagle progression looks great.
