Ron Paul campaign statement on Louisiana GOP convention

Thank you. This is where we differ from the LP. The good is not the enemy of the perfect. Many of these other conservatives believe in most of our issues but have just been brainwashed against Ron. Being polite and classy fellow comrades can help turn the tide.

I would add that, when it comes down to it, people do not usually vote for someone who agrees with them 100%. Most who will dutifully vote for Romney right now are party faithful, or agree with him on "the economy," or maybe they share some sort of connection with something he said sometime. If someone wants to end the wars, but they would have been otherwise a Santorum voter, I will applaud their vote for Ron Paul. They may not be delegates, or donors, or forum members, but they are voters, and we are getting to the point that the focus should shift from rallying purists to herding the cats and reminding them that Ron is still around.

I would like to see that article if you have a link.

here you go:
http://dougwead.wordpress.com/2012/04/19/ron-paul-pandemic-causes-romney-split/

There is a split at the senior levels of the Mitt Romney campaign over how to deal with the ongoing Ron Paul takeover of the Republican Party, this, from an old friend inside. Some are saying, “Let it happen, so what? We have the nomination, they represent youth and Hispanics and they are the future, we need them.” Others, I will call them Romney Hawks, are saying, “We don’t know exactly how many delegates they have and that, in itself, is dangerous. They already have enough to embarrass us at the Republican National Convention in Tampa.”
They point to the disastrous RNC of 1992 which many believe contributed to the loss of George H. W. Bush to Bill Clinton in the general election. They say, “We must stop the Ron Paul people at any cost.”
The Romney Hawks have been able to win in states like Alaska and North Dakota, where they anticipated a Ron Paul takeover and carefully planned strategies to disenfranchise them. And the war, by the way, is not just with the Ronulans. The votes of Rick Santorum, Newt Gingrich and now, in many states, with any pro life delegates as well.
Part of the reason for the hardball is that the Romney team was caught by surprise in Missouri, Colorado, Minnesota, Iowa and other states. Even more worrisome for the Romney Hawks are the delegates that they are calling “stealth Paulies” lost in the mix, among the GOP faithful, going to Tampa as bound votes for Romney but Ron Paul activists at heart. Some estimates say that Ron Paul could end up with a third of the delegates on the floor of the RNC and “who knows what they can do?” That has galvanized the Romney hardliners. The purge is on.
Alaska is an example where the Romney hardliners pressed their advantage. Last Monday, GOP state party chairman, Randy Reudrich called a state committee meeting and announced that delegate fees would be accepted no later than 48 hours “from this date” setting a deadline for Wednesday, April 18. Then suddenly, the next day, the state party changed its mind, saying that delegate fees were required by 6:00 p.m. that very evening.
First Reudrich’s GOP state party told delegates they could pay their $250 registration fee with personal check or by credit card online. Then they promptly pulled the online link. Delegates were caught off guard again when the Reudrich’s Rules changed. Personal checks were no longer acceptable. One was denied registration by a Party official who declared that even a money order was unacceptable.
The Alaska GOP told individual Ron Paul, prolife, or non-Romney supporters that they were prohibited from sponsoring the fee for surrogate delegates, and prohibited from covering any expenses for airfare or accommodations for anyone else. Of course, this was not true. One Ron Paul supporter who quietly, but firmly, pointed out the legality of the process, and listed Romney delegates whose expenses were paid by friends, was then told, “Yes, but they filed a state GOP waiver form.” He was then told that the party was out of forms. “Sorry.”
In the end, it may be Governor Mitt Romney, and the GOP, who are sorry.
“They are saying that GOP state chairman, Randy Reudrich, was promised a Romney job in Washington,” says one of the Santorum organizers. “He better hope that’s the case because he is finished in this state.”
Cooler heads in the Romney camp are concerned that Romney Hawks are driving young people, Hispanics and Independents to a Third Party or a “sit at home” attitude in the general election. The recent Rasmussen poll which showed Ron Paul beating President Barack Obama in a general election and Mitt Romney not, may have been missed by the national media but it was seen clearly by people in both the Romney and Obama camps.
The good news for the Ron Paul people is that if no one else believes in the success of their campaign, the Romney Hawks obviously do and they are willing to cheat, lie and deceive to stop them. Said one of the staff at Ron Paul Headquarters today, “If Mitt Romney had this thing won, he would be telling his state chairs to make it easy for new people to come into the party.” The fact that they are shutting us out is revealing.”

Yeah, it would be much better for the long-term success of the movement and its place in American politics if Paul came out, mooned the GOP, shouted "GFY, bitches!" then punched Priebus and Romney in the nuts. That would learn 'em!

BURN BRIDGES, MAKE ENEMIES! KICK ASS AND TAKE NAMES! WOOOOOOOO!

Uh, ad hominem much?

All I said is that I was disappointed with the campaigns response. And here you come out making completely false statements and negative repping me for even daring to question the campaigns statements.

Let's see if Jesse Benton himself comes out on camera and condemns the GOP Party Hacks for what they did in Louisiana.

His Campaign Press Release and comments about Ron Paul Supporters needing to behave themselves and act like ladies and gentleman last month seems pretty out of place and way off point now!!!

Oh and if you are looking why there were far fewer Ron Paul Delegates that showed up in Washington and Missouri than what the Campaign had hoped for, you need look no further than the infamous Campaign Press Release put out on May 14th by guess who??

Thank's again Jesse and John.....your Great Statement on that day boomeranged and hurt and demoralized the Ron Paul Nation far more than anyone else!!!!! The terrible results in Washington and Missouri prove the point beyond a shadow of a doubt!!!

"Let's just get the damn delegates. These forums will be still be here after Tampa AND the general election for us to point fingers and armchair all we want. ONWARD! "

Exactly! What the hell are we complaining about when we just won a majority in a deep South state which didn't exactly vote like gangbusters for us in the primary? Sheesh!

why did the press release hurt us in washington and missouri and not in louisiana?

The only issue I have with this and previous responses is the lack of support for us. It is Ron Paul supporters being assaulted, it is Ron Paul supporters being wrongfully arrested and suffering all other forms of verbal molestation.

Stop playing all best friends and be honest. I've never known Ron Paul to hedge his bets or soften his words. It's frustrating to here what is CLEARLY a politically correct message come out, they are not his words. I don't expect a GFY but I don't expect blowing smoke up their ass either.

Torchbearer go back and read the threads from Washington and Missouri here and over at the Daily Paul....you will find the answer.

We live in fifty States, all different....but both threads reported the number of delegates that showed up for Ron were less than hoped and in fact were shockingly low versus the expectations.

In addition, have you notices the Ron Paul Daily Donation Tracker.....http://paul.depositwiz.com/

Enough said!!!

i guess you are right. we never needed leaders here in louisiana. we were dead set on winning those delegates- ron paul campaign helping or not.
in fact, if you recall. we put Ron Paul on the general election ballot in this state in 2008. we don't give up. ever.
what is the alternative?

Paul supporters can read and it clearly stated that we are/were continuing our pursuit of delegates in the coming states. If some Paulians put a rope around their necks in a knee-jerk response and didn't show up, bad on them. This just tells me they aren't linked in with the grassroots that can help them understand what's going on and, instead, they let the vague campaign verbiage think for them. It didn't stop any of us from showing up at the Mi convention and pull a quarter of the delegates plus many alts and dels in waiting. Again, it's the die hards that keep themselves informed and do what's needed, we just have a lot of softies that like Paul yet don't go the extra mile.

Yep, how many Ron Paul delegates stayed home for lack of inspiration with the "new campaign". We don't have to like it, but there is a huge difference between "we're kicking their asses all over the place, come and continue the fight" and "we'd like to make an impact in Tampa and need delegates to do so". Generally I've been pleased with the campaign thus far but they can't have been surprised at the blowback.

FYI - This is how a WINNER talks.

The problem with Missouri and Washington always was dependence on another candidate's supporters to win the whole delegation (same is true in Colorado). You can't blame them if Santorum's people decided to fall into line.

And Badger Paul why do you suppose the Santorum people fell into line this weekend in Washington and Missouri when earlier (before May 14th) they had formed Unity Delegations with Ron Paul Supporters in other States?

I contend at the very least the May 14th E-Mail from the Campaign put a doubt, I contend a very serious doubt, in their collective minds that Ron Paul's Campaign was still a viable one and in fact they came to believe had actually quit actively Campaigning.

Ask yourself, would you form a coalition with a Campaign that had openly stated in an Official Campaign Press Release that it would quit actively Campaigning in all of the rest of the primaries?

The real damage the Campaign did not expect was to the Ron Paul Nation. The very first e-mail I received after the infamous May 14th Campaign Press Release was from the California Ron Paul Headquarters in Los Angeles stating in bold and large letters that Ron had not quit the Campaign and to keep fighting, begging us to continue.

I wish more Ron Paul Supporters had believed that, but the results have come in the past three weeks to show that the Campaign, had in fact, shot themselves in the foot. I know many here on the RP Forums do not like to criticize the Campaign and consider it heresy to do so......

But facts are stubborn things and cannot be ignored. We must learn from our mistakes if the Liberty Movement is to survive beyond August 2012.

It was not the May 14th E-mail as you say that deflated the energy but the 'silent treatment' they gave everyone. They could have followed their Plan B with even more PR releases, TV interviews, and more advisories to the presumptive delegations, etc. But by going to silence they acted dead.

If they don't follow up today's press release with more of them plus more interviews etc. then come August you should have but a skeleton with nothing in between.

“However, we also wish to highlight and applaud the fact that the convention ended on a high note reflective of the cooperation all Republicans wish to see toward the mutual aim of defeating President Obama in the November general election."

What kind of bullshit is this?

This is called "misdirection" and it's used by magicians and generals to direct the opponent (or audience) into directing their attention to wrong place. Just sit back and wait for Tampa. Dr. Paul wasn't born yesterday and I GUARANTEE that LIBERTY is his goal. Have some confidence here...
