Ron Paul campaign statement on Louisiana GOP convention

neg rep. They've accomplished more in this campaign than you will in your entire life.

In 2008, the official campaign was overwhelmed. Unprepared for the huge outpouring of grassroots money. And in 2008, grassroots was kickass. Tea Party Money Bomb. Grassroots was the better in 2008.

In 2012, the official campaign has been solid. I wouldn't call them brilliant (unless we end up winning). And in 2012, grassroots has been pretty sad and weak. The official campaign has been the better in 2012.

Are you getting a check from the campaign? You sound like there spokesperson.

Nah, just someone who pays attention to politics, and has read this board enough to know that the armchair campaign managers around here who are most critical of Paul's team are almost always completely delusional and embarrassingly stupid.

I won't even criticize the grassroots. Look at all they've accomplished throughout the country thus far. We're assuming positions of real power within local parties. That's significant. The campaign offered the direction and a bit of guidance, and the grassroots took action.

I absolutely agree with your assessment of 2008, though. The campaign was... umm... not good, to be kind. This time around, they've done a wonderful job in spite of the deck being stacked against them.

Totally agree! He just chimes in to the take the credit. It is the grassroots not the campaign winning these delegates. The campaign is scared what we are going to do in Tampa Bay.

Maine and Minnesota are offfical campaign wins.

its me, not you.

Now it sounds like I'm being dumped! In all seriousness, I don't want to lose sight of the fact you guys did a terrific job getting delegates! Very, very sad and strange turn of events today, but at least it didn't turn out like OK, AZ, WA or MO. LA was the only bright spot in that respect.

Watching the video (granted, just once), it looks like the officers try to put him in a standard position used to subdue active or aggressive persons without injury to either party. So they were probably as surprised as anyone that injury resulted. If this technique was used, there will be no intent to harm. However, having/ordering him removed from the floor is a big issue. And using that technique on a non-aggressive person, or especially, ordering it to be done, could have legal precedent. Maybe the insurance the GOP had to pay to hold the convention will take care of the medical bills?

No, no, no ... he stated to the police at least 3x prior to the injury that he was handicapped! He can clearly be heard on the video.

The thousands of people who showed up at Ron Paul's rallys weren't lured there by talk of unity within the GOP.

This movement was created from disgust with the neocon agenda.

Any talk of unity with the neocons will destroy it in very short order.

I'm disappointed that the campaign has come to saying statements like this. Very disappointed.

I am very glad and proud the campaign came up a statement like that in such short notice. It seems they had someone there at the premises. That was a good PR statement to test Drudge to see if he is going to pick it up as news. After Drudge then Fox may pick it up and then the rest of them. What's important is that they start to move on more of this stuff, all the time.

i was very impressed. We had some big guns and large brains on our side.
we weren't just a bunch of laymen fumbling through the process. we had long time Republicans who are now true ron paul supporters. that in itself is a huge win.
we will now focus on those state central committee positions. we need those seats.

Or the talk could be of them unifying with us, as unlikely as that is. If the narrative is that the main GOP must unify with or at least tolerate our members, we act like we are in the stronger position. Nothing will be won with purists alone.

I'm in Maine. We took 21/21 of the delegate votes. Took every statewide vote. Took almost all of the state GOP committee seats. And the official campaign was all over Maine, training training training. There could be states where I wasn't, where we took positions without any official campaign boots on the ground, but in Maine and Minnesota where our biggest wins were, we had official campaign staffers on the ground working for months.

When I talk about grassroots, I'm not talking about local stuff though. I'm talking about the "projects" that we hear about here on rpf. Inventing tea party inventing money bomb in 2008. Super Brochure in 2012.

Thank you. This is where we differ from the LP. The good is not the enemy of the perfect. Many of these other conservatives believe in most of our issues but have just been brainwashed against Ron. Being polite and classy fellow comrades can help turn the tide.

It doesn't sound to me 'sold out' at all but I think the goal of the campaign is to prevent these things from happening over and over. Dr. Paul may want to win, I don't know, but he doesn't want a whole lot of 'trouble.'

WE aren't the ones causing the trouble. The campaign needs to come out with a statement stressing THAT instead of blowing Romney and pretending he can beat Obama.

That PR release does not have to be the only one on this matter nor the last one. They will be listening to you and put another one soon. Hope so.

The focus of the movement shouldn't be on converting the mainstream element of the GOP.

The focus should be on assuring the 97 million people who make up the millenial generation that they're not being persuaded to accept unity with the neocons.

The health of the GOP is decidedly secondary to me.

I'm an advocate for liberty.
