Ron Paul Billboards (48 feet by 14 feet) need mockups!

Would you actually be able to read the info on the pie chart? Could it be larger and "behind" the lettering in lighter colors and just be divided into three sections.

The pie chart used in this Mockup is the very first image that appears in the Google search for this topic, it has powerful visual crossover to the internet. People seeing this sign will want to verify this information and when they search google for this information and try to verify the pie chart, there it will be, in the first spot on Google as searches are returned.

Generally speaking, any word, (and it must be in the plainest, simplest font), must be at least 1' tall to be legible. The sign is 14' tall.

If the pie chart were increased in size so that the top of the pie chart touched the top of the billboard, and the bottom of the pie chart would touch the bottom of the billboard the words on the pie chart would be approximately 11" high.

The amount of time that any person attempted to spend reading that information on the pie chart would seriously detract from their ability to absorb and process the more important information that the five words and the "image as a whole" represent.

I encourage you to read the basic articles at the links I have posted on Billboard design, we all need to be on the same page.

The physical laws of billboard design are not amendable no matter how much you wish them to be. Let us move forward with this knowledge please.

=================================================

I have thought about making the words "Military Donation$" shorter, so that I can then increase the size of the pie chart, but to do so, in order to put the pie chart behind letters in the words will be destructive to both the pie chart and the words.

There are 5 words on this Billboard, nearly the limit for Billboard design, also, this is NOT the largest Billboard available, so the 6 word limit must be approached conservatively, 5 words is "nominal" for this size Billboard.

But here, I'm writing almost as much information as what is contained in the articles I posted on Billboard design and this take away from my time in actually designing and then rendering Billboards. Please, everybody in this thread, read and research "Best Practices Billboard Design".

The words on the Billboard must not only be read by the viewer, any additional seconds in their "viewing window" must be available for processing time, which directly correlates to the quality of short and long term memory retention.

Same here... I say try it horizontal with a bar chart:

MILITARY DONATIONS
===========
=========================== (RP)
RON PAUL WINS

Possibly the number totals written beside or inside the bar

I'd say the pie chart just isn't visible enough, and it doesn't seem worth it to me to reduce the number of people who understand it to those who will do a google image search.

The mockup kind of appears as an appeal to donations from military if the pie chart isn't processed.

I think this is a good idea. Can someone try it and see what it looks like?

Why not a huge picture of Ron and an eager Reagan listening to him. Gipper approved.

MILITARY DONATION$ - RON PAUL 71%

Well, there are THREE Billboards available ... (whistles a little tune)

Right! We just need to raise the money! Can we start the chip in? I'm not positive we can get all three, but we might be able to.... Also, FBappDev, do you have the final design of the RP Military Face one with the wording on it up somewhere? I don't think I've seen the whole billboard yet.

Given the format, a horizontal bar chart/graph is definitely the way to go. Anyone figure the exact Q3 percentages for Romney, Obama and Paul? (Would like to try my hand.) I think any more those three and it just gets to be too much to read. Romney is still the media's anointed golden-boy and I don't see that changing.

I'm only doing Mockups with the "roadside view" at this point until a single Mockup candidate is selected that has both strong support within this thread and strong support external to the thread. I've yet to post one to my fb album that people have given strong and undeniable support too. A few are very enthusiastic, but I don't have one that "Everybody" is going wild over.

Please, thread participants, take a look at the album linked to above and check out the comments from people who are NOT involved in this process yet are for the most part very knowledgeable of Ron Paul.

I'm burning more than one candle at both ends, so ... let us have some days of patience.

If you want to kick-off the chip-in, please, go for it, but we should have some more "roadside view" Mockups and some more thread development before pitching the thread for a chip-in.

We need confirmation and an attachment in this thread that lists the Q3 Military Donations percentages.

I think I can make 4 bars on the chart work with some more tweaking.

QUICK STUDY for thread participants:

Searching google with the phrase: political billboards (images section)

famous billboards

Just : billboards

This is not a "content" study, it's a quick, visual scanning study of the images at the links above to confirm some of the rules for billboard design we have observed thus far.

A final thought:

Should we use the totals from all available quarters, or just Q3 totals?
