Tea Party '11 - Digital Billboard - Refined Rough Product - v02
1. The border is a very, very dark green. This unifies the bordering element created by the word "MONEY BOMB" in green, and the outline of the Liberty Tree, which was taken from the 13cent U.S. stamp, a Liberty Tree stamp, (13).
2. The very faint "Ron" on the left, and "Paul" on the right is in white, bordered with a dark red, it unifies the Red Elements on the Board. As they are a tiny bit lighter shade of Red, the pop a bit more.
*The use of WHITE anywhere on a digital Billboard is a very, very special application. White SHINES and is fuzzy on the edges in Digital Billboard creation. So the "Ron" and the "Paul", although very dim, (very transparent), both allows the texture of the scroll to come through the text, and it will, indeed shine, or glow, more than any other element on the Board, (except the interior of the Liberty Tree). So whites must be subdued in order to use their powerful "effects".
There is of course a Border around the "Ron" and the "Paul", the same red as the other text elements, (unification of elements).
As we read the Board left to right, the mind sees a URL, with the hotlink line beneath it and the mouse hand, this causes a physical reaction, we want to click it, and it draws the eye into the middle of the Board, it is visceral, the mouse hand.
The mind picks up the GREEN CURRENCY OUTLINE of MONEYBOMB, it barely needs to even be "read".
As the eye is in the middle of the board, (because of the mouse hand), the "Tea Party '11" logo, BLASTS ...
"Dec" has no period, (abbr. period), this is a brain nag, causes the mind to put that period in there. And the "Tea Party '11" logo, is the same color, so the most powerful element on the board, is unified with the color of the Date. The same is true for "16th".
"Dec" and "16th" are in MINION font, the same as "Ron" and "Paul", so we unifiy our low-key, but warm and glowing "Brand", with the DATE ... not the idea of "Tea Party".
The logo is ... indeed, "smudged", and the Digital Billboard will further smooth the edges, giving it a real and natural appearance on the scroll. There is some transparency applied to "Tea Party '11", to let the grain of the scroll ever so gently peek through.
The Liberty Tree, is going to GLOW, and it's outline, (in green), will be almost washed out, so I've made it a little heavy here. WHY, will it wash out the green outline? Because the white interior is going to GLOW. This is a technical aspect of Digital Billboard design that is very much like a high intensity, backlit screen.
!!! In Digital Billboard design the use of "White" or "Empty Space" is a weakness. There are only 5-10 seconds for the viewer to observe the Board, EVEN IF THEY ARE STOPPED AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT, because the Board only displays for 8-10 seconds, then the next customer's board displays.
The text, must be GIGANTIC ... this is an IRON CLAD rule in Digital Billboard design.
*** The DISCLAIMER for funding, the "Paid For", gets slammed into the edge of the dark green background.
