Look at how many the establishment ran last time. I believe the reason for that was to drown out Ron's voice.
They will do the same this time around. Like a chess game. Romney was the pick of the establishment while the others were the pawns to protect him.

The more voices we get up there to agree with each other on issues the better...Ron can be a pawn for Rand and help fight off his attackers. Even cruz will be agreeing with Rand on many issues unless he pulls a huge flip flop and I mean HUGE. This idea has merit.

exactly, that is what i am saying, hell even get gary back on stage as a republican, before we know it it is 4-5 liberty vs 3 neo-con/establishment! win win, 2 voices on the republican primary debate stage 3,4 or 5 is better then 1 or 2 , the more voices for liberty on the republican debate stage the better!!!

Ron didn't want to run last time but did so because there was no one else to keep the movement afloat and expanding. In his mid-70s, he invested extreme amounts of energy just to keep us all involved. Now, to even expect him to exert that kind of energy as an 80 yr old is just downright disgraceful, insulting and selfish. Earth to the puritans, he gave us Rand, Justin, Thomas, Cruz, Sanford and maybe Broun in Senate. So, he's done his job tho I still hope he continues endorsing. Let him chill and do his podcast, his channel and his orgs. And stop divisive threads.

He's free to do as he pleases. I for one am glad he has chosen to, in his "retirement", sponsor a homeschooling curriculum, a foreign policy think-tank, and start an online TV channel.

My God, Ron Paul has done more for the liberty of humanity in one lifetime than I could hope to achieve in 100. May God bless and keep you, Dr. Paul. I wish there were a more emphatic phrase than, "thank you", to express my appreciation for you, your life, and your efforts.

hmm how can i sway torchbearer, just imagine the debate in the republican primary, paul,paul, and cruz though i am not a big fan of cruz and gary and others. imagine we have more candidates on the debate stage pushing our ideas. just Imagine!!! no one is trying to kill the man. Ron Paul is DA MAN. I agree. That being said, if he runs (and I do not think that he will) I will support him 110%.

Ron got ill a lot on the campaign trail last time. Nothing too serious, and Ron's in GREAT shape, but it takes a toll. He has an amazingly lovely family, some members of which are now coming into their own. He has charming little ones to make him smile, new folks to teach to throw a ball and swing a bat and ride a bike and swim and mow the lawn. He has a wife to whom he's been married for ages and, miracle of miracles, they are still in love and she still bakes a spectacular chocolate chip cookie. He's worked really damned hard at "jobs" all his life, and now he gets a chance to still put time and knowledge into projects, but to sit back and enjoy retirement and watch Rand and his other family make him proud.

For those in the thread that actually do work for a living... do you hope to be retired at 70? 80? 90?

Oh and that glorious debate that you keep going on and on about? Let's say for a moment that it's all these liberty wet dreams up there together, and two establishment candidates. Do you think it will serve to make the liberty message mainstream, or do you think the questions will still be framed to make the establishment ones look more assured, confident, and qualified? I do not think having even 10 liberty candidates on stage is the answer here. I'd rather have one really good one up there, and get much more time, than have a whole lot of them up there splitting the debate time and watering things down.

I doubt he will run. He will be pretty old at that point, over 80 right? It's a lot of stress being attacked regularly like RP is when he runs. Having said that, the guy is in great physical shape for his age. When I met him in 2007, he told me he still swims for exercise whenever he gets the chance, and I've heard he rides his bike daily.

(But...maybe he get get Rand a little more over to the side of liberty and stop appeasing the neocons.)

Another concern is his mental state. I'm not saying he's going senile but even if you compare his media appearances in 12 to 08, he definitely slowed down a bit. The media will make fun of everything he misses and say he's too old and out of it.
