Romney to select Paul Ryan for VP slot

Looks like 28 years.

CBO has conducted a long-term analysis of the major provisions of the proposal as described by the Chairman’s staff. The specifications may differ in some ways from the plan released today by Chairman Ryan in "The Path to Prosperity: Restoring America’s Promise."

The proposal specifies a path for all other spending (excluding interest) that would cause such spending to decline sharply as a share of GDP—from 12 percent in 2010 to 6 percent in 2022 and 3½ percent by 2050; the proposal does not specify the changes to government programs that might be made in order to produce that path. Total spending under the proposal would be about 21 percent of GDP in 2030 and almost 15 percent in 2050. The proposal also specifies a path for revenues relative to GDP—rising from 15 percent in 2010 to 18½ percent in 2022 and 19 percent in 2030 and beyond.

The resulting budget deficits under the proposal would be around 2 percent of GDP in the 2020s and would decline during the 2030s. The budget would be in surplus by 2040 and show growing surpluses in the following decade. Federal debt would equal about 48 percent of GDP by 2040 and 10 percent by 2050.

Up until 2016 Ryan doesn't look that bad. A lot better than Obama - but politicians have a habit of backloading the pain of their decisions...

I wonder what "ASSumptions" he's using in his deficit reduction scheme. Devil is in the details.

Question. How many years is it before Ryan's plan balances the budget? Is it 28 years or is it 40?

try NEVER

I can't believe that any here are even suggesting an illusion of credibility to this.

All this discussion about something that is nothing but Bullshit for the Ignorant.

Oh, Pete, I don't believe ANY of it. I very much doubt his plan would EVER balance the budget. But, as I spread it on Facebook I want to give a number that is backed up by a reputable source. Otherwise, they won't even listen to what I am saying as I am pointing out his failings.

To what end..
To vote for "R".. Or against "D".??

I am hoping,, for the very slim chance, that somehow,, delegates will nominate Ron Paul .

Romney+who the fuck ever, is irrelevant. Completely and utterly irrelevant.

Never is for real. The problem I have with people (RINO's, tea partiers, etc) buying into his long term Balanced Budget BS is that people actually believe in it. So basically for the next 28yrs, elected officials would stick with that Plan? GTFO. That's why Dr. Paul's plan was perfect. It was here and now, not decades in the making......

In my 'umble opinion, this time around it really DOES come down to skin color.

There are no other differences.

Seriously.

This should be great for the race/class war...sigh.

You just voiced a truly ugly truth.

Go team.

Well, there is ALWAYS the possibility that their respective TRUE STANCES on the issues will never get out, which would honestly probably be better for the country.

Lose/Lose proposition.

It's the fierce republican vs. democrat dynamic. Not skin color based. The democrat party is so "in your face" in terms of statism, that many republicans would vote for Lucifer if it meant ridding themselves of Obama. I'm not saying the Republican party is the party of freedom and free markets, but examine our history over the last 100 years. It's been dominated by progressive democrat policy. Federal Reserve, the progressive tax system, Wilsonian foreign policy (league of nations and later the UN), the New Deal takeover, the Marshall Plan (precursor to the EU), LBJ's Great Society, Medicare....On and on. The same authoritarian nonsense repackaged as the common good.

I'll believe Paul Ryan is a fiscal conservative when I get my $ back from GM/Chrysler bailout he voted for.

um, unfortunately, compare that to this:

Excellent: @MittRomney made a bold choice today in picking @RepPaulRyan as his running mate. Onward to victory! #RomneyRyan2012

...and this...

#RomneyRyan2012 is a winning combination! RT if America's Comeback Team has your support. #tcot

Paul Ryan BEGS Congress to Pass TARP ( PATHETIC )

Just another shill for the banksters.

Neither, of course. Not at the presidential level, anyway. There is no discernible choice there without Ron Paul. What I am doing right now is pointing out that Paul Ryan is not the fiscal conservatism they think that he is.

I am hoping,, for the very slim chance, that somehow,, delegates will nominate Ron Paul .

Ryan was the best realistic choice. By that I mean obviously there were better options, but they weren't realistic. Rand or Ron were never going to be his VP choice. So it was Ryan, Rubio, Santo, Grinch, etc. out of the crappy options Ryan was the best. He's not pro liberty but he's better than the rest.

A few nights ago I heard Laura Ingraham talk about why Paul Ryan would be the best choice for Romney. The phony conservatives like him and it would do Mittens good to carry Wisconsin.
