Romney "Suspending" Campaign

CNN says that Romney's campaign says he is going to "suspend his campaign" -- letting him keep his delegates for now

This could be excellent assuming we can get a lot of Romney supporters to break our way! If they do, there is still a good chance that the convention will be brokered if Huckabee stays until the end, which is looking more likely.

Romney is speaking at CPAC in about 15 minutes. That would be the time to announce it, if he's going to do it today.

This sounds like doom and gloom to me. The only way this is good news is if we see a huge surge of free press and support for Ron Paul to stop McCain. Since the liberals (and the liberal media) are probably dying to have McCain represent the Republicans this is unlikely.

I'd have to see it to believe it. This is going to be BAD for us.

Maybe not - in all the caucus states where we thought we had a chance of winning, the Romney machine managed to get first place and we took 2nd (Nevada, North Dakota, etc).

But I'll believe it when I see it. He has no good reason to drop out right now. If he does, it will be because the GOP pressured him into doing it by threats, promises, or some combination of both.

If Romney is out, McCain doesn't need Huck as a lap dog to keep Romney down.

It could be McCain vs Paul within ONE week!

Yipppie!

It's not yeehaw. This mean McCain is the nominee... he's going to get the Romney votes

The majorty of Republican voters are used to takeing orders and following the leaders. If the GOP starts telling them to vote for McCain, even if they dispise him, they will do it for the Party and to make sure a Dem doesnt win the whitehouse.

BTW if this is true, RP needs to team up with Huckabee right now to make sure that this thing gets brokered.

If he's just suspending his campaign it might be ok..... This is a nail-biter.

I would think that if Romney drops out now, this would allow McCain to easily eat up the rest of the delegates in binding states. Not good.

Yes, if this is true we are completely screwed. CFR supports CFR. Unreal. Especially happening on the day that McCain speaks to the conservative council which will also be broadcast?
