well, if you remember bombing of Serbia during Clinton time, Bondstill military base built in Kosovo (largest since Vietnam war) and support of KLA it's easier to find out why...

Because Kosovo declared its independence a few days ago, and the United States government supported it, which I guess...upset some Serbs.

Also, I hear that Kosovo holds a religious importance to Orthodox Christians in the area?

Yeah I'm a newb to this as well. Why does the US Government support kosovos decleration of independence? This must mean more coruption, more greed, more voter fraud etc... if America supports it.

This is a bit of a sticky situation that the U.S. (that's you and me...) seems to have stamped their approval on way too quickly.

The interesting part is that the areas of Kosovo which have a Serb majority are mineral rich. Definitely a flash-point in the making.
