I feel bad for the kid actually.

Having no sense of his history or accomplishments or his place in the world, thrown into the meat grinder and then wondering what the $#@!, over...yeah I can see a descent into madness.

Yet again, my man:

And it's highly probable that he was an atheist or some kind of non-deist, devoid of a concept of a higher power, of a God who loves him and to whom he should devote not just his mortal being but his immortal soul... it would be one thing if he sacrificed his life because he was forced to accept a false god and to reject God as a consequence - that is martyrdom and is one of the ultimate proofs of faith; but this waste of his life and his soul... in my opinion, this poor kid died a long time ago, and he just got around to acknowledging it.

He was part of a family and a home schooled kid that belonged to an obscure sect local to Cape Cod called the "Church of the Transfiguration".

But from what I have read he had rejected much of it, maybe they don't teach the gospel there, I don't know.

And then fell into the self affirming echo chamber of places like reddit and instagram.

So I guess the seeds were not planted deep enough, or perhaps corrupted from the start.

This is unconfirmed and I hate to speak ill of the dead, but I have read he was queeer and a "furry" which adds to that confusion.

Believe it or not there are some out there, who honestly think the schools are agents of capitalist running dogs and do not indoctrinate enough Marxism.

In the process of homeschooling four kids to a HS diploma, I've met a couple in my travels.

They are genuinely nuts.

Maybe his parents are that flavor.

Just based on where they lived, it's a good possibility.
