Rick Perry shoots an innocent coyote

This story is two or so years old (before his last campaign for re-election), and when I first heard of it my immediate though was "bullshit!"

Though I still think it may be bullshit, nothing but a "hey I'm a tough country boy, who is okay with guns." story for the press to help spew, I'd say I couldn't blame him if it's true... They can tear up your dogs and young livestock like nobody's business...

I'd leave this story alone...

This is something to be wary of. I understand the desire to "go after" these folks,,but lets not shoot ourselves in the foot.

Coyotes are a very real reason that I would like to have a gun on this farm. I want my Gun Rights Back.

Ron Paul is the only man running that would do that. I am not going to target our enemies for doing things that are completely acceptable.
There is plenty of other good ammo out there.

That was not the point, Acala. Sofia is a rabid (pardon the joke) animal rights activist. She thinks wild animals rate higher than humans and thinks the government should outlaw animal husbandry, hunting, trapping, leather, and meat consumption. She has said as much in multiple threads.

If so, I apologize and withdraw. I have no problem with plugging a coyote as needed. Although I don't dislike them. I actually respect them.

I wouldn't want to mess with Rick Perry. He was a cheer leader in college.

Do you have Google on your computer?

How many stories do you want?
http://abcnews.go.com/US/story?id=4811654&page=1

there are bunches more.

/insert Giuliani . "I have never heard of such a thing"

You wise guy!

No, I'm looking for actual stats. Here's what I've found first:

Officials with the California Department of Fish and Game estimate that roughly one person gets bitten by a coyote per year in California. The last human to be killed by a coyote was a child in the Los Angeles area around 1980.

From 1993 to 1997 there were seven coyote attacks on humans in Arizona, with over half in 1997. (SDUT 12/17/97, A3)

"The best estimates assert that, in recorded history, there have been 20 to 30 coyote attacks on humans that resulted in injuries." (Tracking and the Art of Seeing, Paul Rezendes, second edition, 1999, p. 194)

Perhaps the stats don't match with the actual reports. The link I gave reported 3 inside of 5 days.
And I am not in California. I am in Northern Michigan and have packs roaming MY neighborhood. They can be heard nearby on a nightly basis.

Just for the record, there are almost as many google results from "toddler attacked by owl."

Okay. I modified the search.. If you put the words in quotations coyote get 8,750 hits for "Toddler attacked by coyote".
If you put "toddler attacked by owl" in quotes, it gets zero hits.

Good catch. Without the quotes it will pick up every page where an owl was attacked by a toddler, or one toddler attacked another in a fight over an owl, or where a coyote attacked a toddler with a stuffed owl.

That Wile E. Coyote are always after road runners.

I'd shoot 'em too.

I don't believe for a minute that a coyote attacked his lab. This story is BS.

when he's not frying innocent men in the electric chair, macho man Perry is shooting animals and gaining headlines for it...

sad thing is, there are many yahoos in the GOP who think this means that Perry is a "good ole boy"

have a look at this staged bullshit story

This is Cap'n Parker, my best friend. (Border collie/lab mix)

TMike

Shameless plug for the Cap'n -- If you don't know who Cap'n Parker is - then see this thread here.

And who packs a .380 with hollow points for snakes? A liar.

I usually use bird shot or a machete for snake repellent , unless I have a hoe or shovel handy ( I have been attacked a couple of times in / around the garden when I did , gratefully have one of those implements . )
