Republican Presidential Debate to Exclude Ron Paul

The conservative talk radio shows are trying to narrow the field down also. They are suggesting conservatives should get behind Mitt or some other candidate.

I noticed that 3 weeks ago. All of them, at the same time.

I would rather Congressman Paul to be offered the debate slot and then turn it down.
The majority of people who will watch this debate have already seen the others. I don't feel good when I hear the crowd of ignorant War Mongers booing him.

Personally I see the exclusion as being a SERIOUS problem because to however many million viewers (more because it is closer to the time to decide) they will unfortunately only be focused on who is there and we already know that people like to PICK WINNERS.

We are already at a disadvantage and I don't believe we can afford to take hits like this. WE NEED TO BE ON THEM LIKE A SHADOW.

This is a matter of free speech and liberty. ALL the candidates should be allowed to participate whether the Iowa Republicans think so or not.
Not it's not, and no they shouldn't (not at the force of law anyway).

FOX is a private network, and this is not broadcast over the airwaves so the FCC has no jurisdiction (not that it should anyway).

Yes, everyone should be included, but it is their debate, they own it, they are paying to put it on, and they can decide who shows up and how much time they get. We can protest and boycott which is perfectly acceptable, but we should not demand that the government forces them to conform.

They could just re-air the recording later.
No, most recordings like that are done in the truck because the enviroment is controlled and they don't have to lug recording equipment into the venue. Cutting the truck cables would pretty much ensure the debate was over.

If they are smart (and I hope they are for their own sake) they have security next to the truck.

I am an audio engineer and do broadcast and live concerts.

Don't bother with Fox - they won't budge as they try and rig this election.

Murdoch must have sent a memo demanding that RP be kept out of this debate come hell or high water, or else heads will roll.

So, I went back 10 pages or so, and as best as I could tell, the IA GOP did get back to someone, and Ron Paul is excluded unless his polling numbers are up by the end of November. Is that a fair assessment of what's been confirmed?

I suspect that even if he is polling at 25% nationally, they will say something like "Well, when we decided to have the debate he was only polling at 4% and it's too late to make any changes." That is how these scumbags operate.

Oh yeah. Their annointed American Research Group pollsters are the same ones I was complaining about last week. There's no way we're going to make that poll.

Yesterday was a classic example of slight of hand. While we were watching Ron Paul all over the media, the IA GOP slipped out their press release. All eyes were on one hand while the other hand was hard at work.

Then we will all show up in Iowa and make them wish they included Ron Paul.

What say we send them a "love bomb" of support for Ron Paul?
Write letters to respectfuly ask them to include Ron Paul in the debate. Use our talking points, etc.
No hate mail, PLEASE!

I cant call,if i call i will tell them firmly this. (POLITELY)IF YOU DO NOT INCLUDE RON PAUL IN YOUR DEBATE,then I assure you my whole family and all my friends will leave the GOP period no excuses,no threat just a Promise.
We need to flex our muscles,if we do not get Ron Paul in the debate or the nomination(then gop is dead in my eyes),then i will vote for Ron Paul in the General Election, the fact is the rest of the republicans are just Hillary Clinton on Steroids. The Republican Party is in the ER right now and i mean right now. The only person who will get my vote inside the Republican Party is Ron Paul. If we dont flex our muscles now and with full force, then you will not see Ron Paul in the debate or the republican nominee(a republican for 20yrs i believe.
It's everyones call what they do,like i said i wont call yet,but when the grassroots decides to pull all stops, let me know. We are 5 republicans in this family and i know majority of the people in our 3 counties will stand with Ron Paul before we ever vote for a big government republican/democrat. REPUBLICANS better wake up ASAP,or this republican and my family of registered republicans and friends will look elsewhere,THERE TRULY IS ONLY ONE REPUBLICAN RUNNING,HIS NAME IS RON PAUL

QUOTE=James R;368352]I'd recommend to anyone who calls, to point out that Ron Paul scored about 10% of the vote at the Iowa Repubican Party Straw Poll. (the same Iowa Repubican Party that is hosting the debate)[/QUOTE]

Right on !! So far this is the only poll taken that has no margin of error, and we should point this fact out in any letters to the editor or press releases to the media.

The campaign should also send out the 12 page New Hampshire brochure right away to Iowa Republicans, and flood Iowa with ads. I liked the ad of a veteran-- I believe Bo Thompson was his name-- who told how Ron helped him get the war service medals he deserved. I think that ad would appeal to Iowa voters, and I think there is a PAC set up for contributions to running it.

Some ideas on what to do if If Fox and the Iowa GOP exclude Ron
- perhaps the Christian Broadcast Network would be interested in broadcasting a pro-life forum at the same time as the debate, inviting candidates who have never advocated abortion in their careers to address Iowa evangelicals

- have a freedom of speech concert and rally in Des Moines with performances by some well-known country music or popular singers. We would ask the singers not to endorse Ron, just to support his right to participation in the debate. Perhaps CMT or some other music network would broadcast the concert and rally
(I agree that Fox and the Iowa GOP as private organizations have the right to exclude Ron; however, given that Ron had nearly 10% of the vote in the Iowa Straw Poll, and will probably be the top Republican 4Q fund-raiser when the debate takes place, I think one can say they are arbitrarily excluding him.)

- refuse to participate in the Iowa caucuses and devote all our funds and efforts to New Hampshire. Raise a money bomb of $1 million or so for Operation Live Free or Die, which aims to put 1,000 volunteers (or 2,000 boots on the ground)on the ground in NH a month or so before the primaries. (I don't think this would be fair to the volunteers and Ron Paul organization in Iowa, however.)

- hold a money-bomb on the same day as the Fox-Iowa GOP debate and aim to double the November 5th total. The news from this achievement would swamp any news coverage of the debate, and Ron's exclusion from the debate would be a great talking point in our press releases. We could also sell the money-bomb as a way to protest Ron's exclusion. And perhaps during the Fox debate we could have a rally and counter telethon broadcasting the donation changes, interspersed with clips of great lines of Ron's speaking at previous debates and a speech by Ron at the end. Hold the rally/telethon in Des Moines. I imagine a local network would be interested.

FWIW these are just some brain-storms. I am sure all of you also have ideas, Could someone start a thread of suggestions about what to do if Ron is excluded, then we could choose some of the best ideas, vote on them, and be ready to take action after the Fox decision is announced. I like the protest money-bomb idea best. Would love to see Fox have egg all over its face.
