Reasonable Argument: Think the Campaign Made Some Deals?

If there is a deal, then it's because they've made a calculated decision that it's what's best for the movement. Some of you are going to pull a hammy jumping to conclusions that they'd throw us under the bus after all our hard work.

Ya know, the alternative explanation is they're being honest with us, and there's far more indication of that than a backroom deal. Benton also said that they'll be listening to us with regard to things like this, so I think you're grasping for straws to figure out an explanation when it's right in front of your face, "Don't give up fighting for our ideals, but don't be delusional thinking that the nomination is likely at this point". IMO, they tried to be honest, and people are jumping to brash conclusions trying to figure out what should be obvious.

Yes, I do think they have made deals.

I don't think it has anything to do with the meeting with Bernanke, though :p.

I was thinking .. with all the hoopla about ending campaigning and focusing on delegates and the recent breakfast RP had with the Fed chairman ("He now believes in the gold standard"), do you think the Romney campaign and possibly the RNC have extended a hand to RP to make some of his issues (monetary policy, indefinite detention, and internet freedom) and give him a platform to speak provided he wind down the campaign? Honestly I am divided about the recent events, but RP does deserve the respect he deserves for 30 something years of service, and make peace with the party he was odds with for the last few decades. I don't know.. just venting..

I do. I think they don't want the convention turning into a circus. I don't know what deal they made though.

Why would anyone want to be on a losing ticket?

I must spread some reputation around before giving it to phill4paul again.

A deal? Threats more likely, against Rand. Too bad the neo-trot establishment will try to kill Rand's political future regardless.

Oh, and remember that delegates don't have to follow the campaign agenda.

When Benton gives you orders, laugh at him.

If they are going to cause disturbances everytime we win and blame the disturbances on us, we will have the same problem with Rand.

I don't think this is the result of a deal, but I think Benton Wead and maybe others have their eyes set on getting one and don't consider this campaign as important.

They should defend us, particularly in OK.

Doesn't Benton throwing our OK people under the bus STINK of running with the establishment line?

Delegates: You don't have to follow the campaign agenda. Benton doesn't give you orders, and he can't deliver you to anyone. Pass a motion to kick him out of the convention if you have to!

Who cares if Benton is running around trying to make deals. He doesn't control the delegates and Rand would never want any part of Romneys cabinet. The delegates are free to vote how they want. I still think RP will win.

You also don't want him in office the next 4 years if the market begins to turn south, which with the indicators I'm going by it's very likely. Let Obama take the blame and his socialistic ideas. Not a libertarian who believes in free markets and sound money.

Seriously? We NEED him in the WH NOW!

I had my doubts, but you guys were right all along--Benton is an idiot. Thank god we have mature, intelligent people running our local grass-roots organizations. I hope we can keep turning out delegates in force when our leader is saying, "cool it, we aren't in it to win it." Whatever. Let's keep up the hardwork. It was never going to be easy. As the saying goes, "Freedom, then Pizza." The former is pretty difficult. :(

yeah. The idea that Ron would get the blame so we shouldn't want him in is one of the weakest arguments I've heard. He is one of the only people around who could take the heat and STILL try to do what is best for the country to the best he is able. I say push for the win, and take the best we can get while still growing momentum, just as I would have said a week ago. Benton's emails just made it harder.
