Torture:

"MESSAGE TO THE SENATE, MAY 20, 1988.sup.1

With a view to receiving the advice and consent of the Senate to ratification, subject to certain reservations, understandings, and declarations, I transmit herewith the Convention against Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment. The Convention was adopted by unanimous agreement of the United Nations General Assembly on December 10, 1984, and entered into force on June 26, 1987. The United States signed it on April 18, 1988. I also transmit, for the information of the Senate, the report of the Department of State on the Convention.

The United States participated actively and effectively in the negotiation of the Convention . It marks a significant step in the development during this century of international measures against torture and other inhuman treatment or punishment. Ratification of the Convention by the United States will clearly express United States opposition to torture, an abhorrent practice unfortunately still prevalent in the world today.

The core provisions of the Convention establish a regime for international cooperation in the criminal prosecution of torturers relying on so-called "universal jurisdiction." Each State Party is required either to prosecute torturers who are found in its territory or to extradite them to other countries for prosecution."

Aggressive Wars:

“The defense policy of the United States is based on a simple premise: The United States does not start fights. We will never be an aggressor. We maintain our strength in order to deter and defend against aggression – to preserve freedom and peace.”

--President Reagan, March, 1983

I think people like Reagan.. But don't know or don't give a damn about what he did... cause obviously these candidates are throwing Reagan's name out there to represent themselves. Hell, I don't even know what Reagan did. Didn't really interest me till recently.

This is true. I looked up some of his old speeches, before he was elected Pres, and can see why Ron Paul liked him in '76. I also understand why Paul got upset with him once he was elected and spent us into our worst deficits in decades. It's sad that he didn't stand his ground more on spending. I can see why some people thought we had to outspend the Soviets, but not at our own expense. We would still have been able to contain them and ensure M.A.D.

I just saw a video of Lieberman and other senators beating the war drums again, and had a Conservative FB page post a link to a T-shirt "I'd rather be Waterboarding". So I thought I would shove it back in their face since they have Reagan as their profile pic.
