Rand's Facebook Under Assault

Some of those comments are beyond bile and disgusting, emotions are clearly running high. Rand was the future of the movement for so many, and he just killed that.

I could live with something like "Rand, you disappointed me, but I will reserve judgement until I get all facts." There are few of those but there are many which are incredibly disparaging and insulting. Some of them equated Rand with a murderer. Another said he should be disowned and should just hang himself. I really hope I don't see some of these folks at one of the events because I will get in their face.

Glad I could help in adding to those comments. I am very hurt from this and can't believe anyone is giving this guy a second chance.

He didn't do anything wrong. He didn't endorse Romney at his father's expense. He simply threw his backing behind the party choice who the Paul camp have maintained a close relationship with. In the battle between Pepsi and Coke, Rand essentially chose Coke. Life goes on. This wasn't some diabolical, underhanded maneuver that the lunatics keep insisting it was. Who here is going to vote for Romney because Rand endorsed him? Not I.

Oh I don't forgive him, but there is such a thing as civility too...and some people did not show that on fb.

If his last name wasn't Paul, he would still be considered a great really good Senator.

He didn't do anything? With all due respect, I believe you need to reevaluate the situation. I am/was a HUGE Rand Paul fan, but after this bullshit, I don't know how and what to feel towards him. Listen, it would be one thing to back Romney if/once Romney secures the nomination. It's another to do so when all of Ron Paul supporters have donated so much money and time. Furthermore, people are STILL working their asses off to rack up delegates. People are taking off of work and spending money on hotels and possibly missing time with their family to go to Tampa in support Dr. Paul. What did Rand do? SLAPPED THEM ALL OF THE EFFING FACE. What he did last night really effing pissed me off and like I said earlier, I was more of a fan of Rand as a politician and potential president than Ron. I am so disappointed and disgusted with what he did that I am currently reevaluating my feelings toward him. As of right now, he is a sell out. Plain and effing simple. But again, I am open minded enough to be patient and see what really happened here. All I ask you all to think about is what Rand and Ron's positions are...and I am talking about KEY positions like NDAA, the Fed, government spending, civil liberties, etc and look to see if Romney lines up at all with any.

It's time to take the blinders off and see things for what they (potentially) are...and that is that Rand sold out.

I will wait and see. But as of now, he sold out.

But think for a second. Rand is a very aware of the delicate delegate situation heading into Tampa. You think he didn't consult with his father or his father's people before making this announcement? I find that hard to believe. I suspect he had Ron's blessing and this preemptive disarming of the delegate controversy is part of the deal the Paul camp brokered with the Romney people. I do agree with you that the Paul campaign should be more communicative to their loyal supporters about their strategy.

Rand always said he would support the nominee. He's been saying it for the past 14 months in interviews to those paying attention. Not sure why the curb of reality trips up so many in the Paul camp. We didn't win the Presidency 2008 and look how far we've come despite that. The nomination isn't the be all, end all of this movement. It's time to keep buggering on as Churchill would say.

I'll be quite frank (and I appreciate you being respectful, I really do)...I don't give a rats poopy fart (I'm really mature) if Rand "consulted" his father or not. In a way, I THINK THAT'S EVEN WORSE! The fact that Ron would give the green light to Rand really worries me! I understand Ron is living up to his true libertarian principles and not trying to influence Rand in his decisions, but come on! Ron should have said, "Dude, are you kidding? My supporters are all working their asses off to win, if not at least, pushing our views within the GOP platform." The fact that Ron was, indirectly, involved makes me even more disgusted.

Unless this is some MacArthur secret attack, this pisses me off to no end. LibertyEagle, who I respect and agree with almost 100 percent of the time is wrong about something, he said that it doesn't matter what Rand "says", rather that it's about how he votes. I completely disagree with that. Rand's words (obviously) have an affect on people and when he happily endorses Mitt Romney BEFORE the convention, he is essentially saying that everyone who threw their money at the convention and drove hours to help campaign for him, was all for nothing. I will tell you something, if I were a national delegate and was spending my hard earned money on getting a hotel in Tampa, in order to support Ron, with this nonsense...I wouldn't even bother. Fuck it. Why should I? Why should I spend even 1 more penny on Ron and his campaign? All of these key issues like NDAA, Patriot Act, SOPA, CISPA, Global empire, gov. spending, abortion, the Fed, etc...to throw that all out the window is bullshit. Two words: SELL OUT.

But again, I am glad you are being respectful to me...it really does mean a lot.

Not while Ron's loyal supporters are spending their hard earned money and time trying to get Ron the nomination.

I never said it didn't matter what he said. I don't particularly like that he endorsed Romney, either, but more than that, I don't like when he chose to do it. But, I don't have all the facts of why he chose the time that he did. So, I'm not about to throw him under the bus for it. I'm sure we will be finding out more later, but in the meantime, it's craziness to think about kicking Rand to the curb. He has done a great job, for the most part, since he has been in the Senate.

I hope you are right. And I am sorry if I sound like a negative nancy here, I am normally a very optimistic person. I am just hurt right now. I apologize if I pissed off or offended anyone. My apologies.

Well, I sympathize with your situation, but I am not entirely surprised. I think I stopped sending them money after South Carolina. There was no viable path to the nomination after that, though Ron did advance the ball forward just like he did in 2007.

As Ron Paul supporters we will have to wait to see what was negotiated from the Romney camp. I for one am not worried about any potential treachery because the Rand Paul movement can do more to short-circuit the Romney campaign than any leftist organization. The Romney people will not dare double-cross a faction that can expose them from the right side of the aisle. It wouldn't be smart politics, especially long-term.

You act as if you know that there has been some kind of deal made and you do not.
