Pretty much tied for third too.

Meanwhile, in the Republican presidential race, Donald Trump now holds a seven-point lead in Iowa and a 16-point one in New Hampshire.

In the Hawkeye State, Trump gets the support from 29 percent of potential GOP caucus-goers, while Ben Carson receives 22 percent. There's a steep drop off after that: Jeb Bush gets 6 percent; Carly Fiorina, Rand Paul and Scott Walker get 5 percent; and Ted Cruz, Marco Rubio and Bobby Jindal are at 4 percent.

In July, Walker was ahead of the Iowa Republican field at 19 percent, Trump was second at 17 percent and Bush was third at 12 percent.

Ok so with the margin of error taken into account it's like this. (Iowa)

***** 29%
Carson 22%
THE REST around 5%

Considering all that, pretty good I'd say. Marathon, not a sprint. Sanity is slowly returning.

And it seems like everybuddy beats Madame Hillary nowadays . . .
get her DOJ/Dept. of Corrections jumpsuit ready.

Very interesting Polls. Let's see if Trumps statements on Kim Davis hurts him. Also Fiorina's jump is being over estimated in my opinion. It shouldn't be long before some Pro-Gun ads come against Trump and Carson. Rand is in a good position to benefit from that. I don't think Carson is ready for Prime time. He says way to many dumb things.

At least he's staying in the average range. Carson seems like the "flavor of the month" because he doesn't really have any organization or experience campaigning. I can't see him staying this high. Trump seems pretty solid at this point, but maybe he will drop more slowly. It's weird to see Rand ahead of Scott Walker in Iowa. The Walker campaign is having a rough time right now. Hopefully Rand starts to come out of his own rough time.

glad to see rand starting to turn around in the polls... hopfully the up trend will continue after the 2nd debate

she will never go to jail. Obama will pardon her, she will withdraw and endorse Biden

Perhaps his numbers are going up slightly because of his recent defense of religious liberty, when he defended Kim Davis. He needs to keep taking bold stands like that in my opinion. I think his numbers started going down when he was being too timid on everything, like when he gave a politically correct answer on the Confederate flag.

She won't go to jail, but she won't need a pardon either. It will more probably go like this.

1. Obama's DoJ indicts Hillary.
2. Hillary drops out.
3. Biden drops in with Obama's full support.
4. Hillary's defense says they need to present classified information for her defense.
5. The case is dropped/dismissed before it ever goes to trial.

Sounds just like the Clintonista "one hand whitewashes the other" routine from their glory days in the '90's. Obarry might play along because Hillary's got some tasty blackmail goods on him (such as access to his withheld records, that clarify what his citizenship status was when he applied for college, or sought financial aid). As it stands, the State Dept is already shopping for a single judge to take over all the email investigations (replacing the 16 separate judges involved now), to efficiently whitewash Hillary of all wrongdoing:

nice to see Rand ahead of Rubio, yet fox continues to rate Rubio highly to win the nomination. What does FOX find so sweet up that rear area?

Thanks for the link . . . Iowa missed not having the Ames Summer GOP event this Presidential election cycle. Rand would have won that like the CPAC wins.

Bernie even beating up on poor Hillary now . . . Biden can step in and not look as bad beating up on a girl.

And it sounds like they NEED 17 judges to sign all the warrants for all the emails by January 2016 . . .
Some are North Korea related - China espionage probably has every Hillary email - lol

Hillary has way bad judgment, as Rand told her to her face at the Benghazi hearing. She couldn't win a city council election now, let alone Commander-in-Chief . . . leave that to General MacArthur . . . I mean Donald Trump.

Rand had some nice pictures of him in a gun shop on FB last month with a crap load of guns on the wall in the background. Would make a great commercial and a fight for the pro gun crowd. I sent the pics to a coworker who is all about guns. He was more than enthused.

I agree. Carson's and Trump's past statements on guns will come up at some point. Rand needs to push the 2nd amendment hard. He recently added some camo gear to his store with a pretty sick statement "Anyone who thinks I am not serious about the 2nd Amendment, just come into my house unannounced." Maybe starting another network of hunters would be something of interest? I like that idea.

LOL

Along with Fiorina and Walker. They are already writing off Walker. So sad the unrealistic view people have of these polls. Seems anyone can spin anything to suit their point of view or hopefulness of an out come. Seem only the pragmatic and realist see these numbers for what they are. The reality is, unless the pendulum swings hugely in favor of Rand after the next debate, he is pretty much done. Unfortunately with the way the media pumps Trump, I don't see that happening. Whomever the next POTUS is, hopefully they help set the stage for Rand in 2020. I'm thinking the year is 2020, no better time for an Ophthalmologist to run. :-)

"Let Rand Paul help you see 20/20 in 2020! Vote Rand Paul the only clear choice to lead our nation."

That's silly in my opinion. The next debate, although important for Rand, won't decide the nomination. We do need to accomplish certain goals in this debate such as exposure, getting rand to promote his experience as a doctor, tax plan, etc. However, the next debate is simply the next debate.

My prediction:
DOJ investigates Hillary.
DOJ states that there is insufficient or incomplete evidence of a crime...
Hillary recovers from her slump and wins the nomination and then the presidency...
I move to Russia...

Silly? Which direction did his polling numbers go after the last debate? The correct answer is down. He is currently hovering around 5% which is a pittance. If he does not break out and do well next debate, by that I mean have enough one liners to grab the headlines and get the media attention, then we can expect his poll numbers to continue to dip. So then by next debate, what, he does not poll well enough to be in that debate? Then what? Stick a fork in him...

You are posting under the pretense that CNN would allow enough face time to the only anti-establishment candidate on the stage to get his massage out and be heard. Since the narrative now is already Trump vs Bush, I just don't see that happening. My guess is about 45 days from now these things will start to come to fruition and Rand will have to seriously consider dropping out, maybe try again in 2020.

Hopefully I am wrong, but only time will tell.

Point me to Santorum's breakout debate performance... Oh yea he didn't have one. I do feel that making the debates is important, however, it is all about Iowa and NH. Grassroots is king. I don't see Rand dropping out regardless of debates. That is crazy. We need to hit Iowa and NH if not just for testing out GOTV effort since we had over 20 percent in those states in 2012. Deep breathe man, we are 5 months away from Iowa.
