Rand Paul Signs Up for Obamacare

This is what it means to be a republic. This is one of the only things the US Constitution gives to enforce against the states by all means necessary, and that is that the people in the several States will enjoy a republican form of government. (Article 4 Section 4)

The President keeps the same law as the plumber. If not, then we are not America. Oh, wait.

The plumber can't have a "kill list" or he/she would be in jail as a suspected terrorist, but the president has one and the MSM and some congress critters act like that those opposed to it are nuts.

Olbermann is a far left progressive. Why would he say something like that?

Olbermann was advocating for something even worse - single payer system. This was back in 2009 when it was being voted on in the Senate. He was basically saying they weren't going far enough with the Affordable Care Act. There were others (I think Dennis Kucinich being one of them) that wanted single payer as well and thought ObamaCare didn't go nearly far enough.

I'm sure he's probably all in favor of Obamacare by now.

It's garbage insurance and he'll be able to speak first-hand about how much better and cheaper his other insurance was--easy segue into how the Dems screwed us all over.

But he could have been in a great position to be a leader in encouraging people not to sign up. That possibility is gone now.

Never mind the fact that, just as a matter of his own personal finances, not signing up was probably the money-saving option.

What makes that worse?

One insurance company to rule them all?

Why is the next step not the government building one hospital in each state, and giving out rationed healthcare for free at those site? That's a real socialist safety net system, and as screwed up as it will be it will be a lot less screwed up than trying to game insurance.

American's are weird.

Maybe. Probably not, or Reid, Pelosi et al would be signing up.

Instead, he chose to try to keep this government of the people, by the people and for the people from perishing completely from the Earth. Even if he is the only human being among all those reptilians.

They say, do what we say, even though we refuse to do it too. Rand Paul says, I voted against that crap, but I'm still not going to hold myself above the law.

They make us buy the marble, make us pay the craftsman to carve the Gettysburg Address in it, and make us pay to have it erected on the Washington Mall. But only Rand Paul jumps into the frying pan with us.

Bravo, Rand Paul.

We had county hospitals. They worked. Then the fedgov passed a law making it mandatory for all hospitals to treat whoever the wind blows into their emergency rooms, whether they're emergency cases or not.

That was the end of county hospitals...

Minor problem > reaction > solution that creates a bigger problem > reaction > solution that creates a bigger problem > reaction > solution that creates a bigger problem > reaction > communism, the biggest problem of all.

Otherwise known as how to boil a frog.

Suppose he runs for POTUS'16, becomes the Pres., and says he'll sign a law that repeals Obamacare. No one will be able to use the argument that he doesn't know what it's like to sign up and be on Obamacare as criticism against his decision to repeal it.

The fact that NO other 2016 candidate has an "M.D." at the end of their name (which alone gives Rand a MASSIVE advantage in any and all discussions/debates about obamacare/healthcare and how best to fix/improve/lower-the-cost/etc.).

= Why RHINOs, Obamabots in the MSM and statist establishmentarians from both parties fear Rand Paul more than any other 2016 CANDIDATE

I imagine that if one of Rand's primary efforts is to hold Congress to the same law as the rest of America, he knows part of doing that is setting an example. IIRC he was a primary behind the push to force Congress to sign up for it. All I see him doing is not being a hypocrite.

Another way of being held to the same law is by paying the fine.

I think he does not want to look like one of those senators that exempt themselves and their staff from Obamacare. There was an article about Reid going to exempt his staff from obamacare and there was a list of senators and their positions on exemptions. STrangely, Rand was not on the list (early black out?)

I agree, Why? The only way we can defeat Obamacare, is to NOT SIGN UP !!! And that means everyone not on Medicare or Medicaid ... DO NOT SIGN UP !!

What Rand should be doing right now is giving stump speeches, and challenging States to sue Obama for Obamacare. The Supreme Court upheld it, before Barry sat behind his golf clubs granting exemptions for he, his family, the Congress, his friends... the Unions, Harry Reid's Nevada; friends of Nancy Pelosi (bars she hangs out at) .

It is no longer a law... You have a drug addict (who refuses annual physical exams), picking and choosing who dies and who doesn't. This is not a law, any longer; it is genocide.

Rand Paul signing up is not going to discourage a single one of us from refusing to participate.

Ron Paul preached to the choir. Ron Paul lost big time.

We are a captive audience. We are also not the biggest audience, nor are we the most important audience. The liberty movement has moved beyond this. We now know what the hell is going on. We will be on board simply because we can no longer close our eyes to the situation.

The way forward is to tap those who actually believed that 'if they liked what they had, they could keep it' and found out what a big, fat, baldfaced lie it was. They don't trust anarchists because they like some of what they have, and they want to keep it. So, anarchists scare them. Now they are very slowly learning that supporting the 'status quo' is no way to keep what they have. And they don't like it. Thank you, Barry Obama, for slapping them awake.

The most successful schtick used by any presidential candidate in recent memory was Clinton's lie that he could 'feel your pain'. Rand Paul doesn't want to galvanize us. Rand Paul wants to win and really make a difference. And he wants to use the most successful schtick in recent memory--he wants to assure the idiots that he feels their pain (and he, more than anyone else currently in politics does). And he wants to be able to prove it!!

And I say let him!

The problem with arguing that 'any idiot could see that this crap wouldn't work' is it's obviously a lie, and people are tired of lies. So, Rand is setting himself up to be able to truthfully say, 'You tried it and I tried it and it doesn't work.' Sounds like a brilliant strategy to me.

Rand Paul might be the only person on stage who would have enrolled in Obamacare out of all the republicans and probably some democrats that will run in 2016. So he will have first hand experience on how it sucks donkey balls, coupled with his MD... I would say he wuold be the most qualified person on stage to talk about Obamacare and defeat the lame-o's at the debate.

Thank you.

Ron Paul's most brilliant campaign moment was when he was on The Talk and told the audience how things worked--and how well things worked--before the government screwed everything up. He got an audience full of women giving him a standing ovation for that. Unfortunately, he didn't do that all the time, and equally unfortunately, it's hard to convince people to turn back the clock no matter how much better things were yesterday than they are today. Ron Paul's most brilliant moment during a debate was when everyone was ragging on him over his age, he challenged them all to a bicycle race, and they all shut the hell up.

Rand Paul wants to be able to stand on the debate stage and say, 'I'm the only one here who has actually tried this crap.' And I can't wait for that moment. It's going to be brilliant!

We don't need leaders. Rand is trying to set himself up to gain the trust of those who do need leaders, so they will follow him to liberty. The least we can do is give him room to maneuver.

Hopefully that works, but the AMA cartel is going to disparage him (very different from how the AMA killed hillarycare) As well as the research scientists who want to get more funding via NIH budget growth.

I couldn't possibly agree more if I tried. The Congress has failed to uphold and defend the Constitution. In large part because the voters have failed to uphold and defend the Constitution when voting. If the people started upholding it, then the Congress would start upholding it. And then, given some bureaucratic inertia, the government we experience daily would start moving back into alignment and actually approaching the Constitution into the future.

I think we can produce even better government in America than that which our Constitution currently describes. Dealing with that is pointless until we have a government that actually cares what the Constitution says in the first place. The good news, is the source of both comes from one spot: voters upholding the Constitution in the voting booth.

My goal in this particular area is to try and develop a civic duty. Promote the idea that it is the civic duty of every American to read the constitution for the government of any office on which they vote within 90 days of casting that vote, and to the best of their ability, use their vote to enforce the Constitution of that office.

If you can't explain something simply, then you don't really understand it yourself, so...

"Read it. Vote it. Save America Now!" We the People have a duty as Americans to keep our Constitutional Republic, a duty given to us by Benjamin Franklin himself, that starts with actually reading the Constitution. Read the Constitution within 90 days of casting any vote. The US Constitution for federal offices, and the State Constitution for State offices. Read it. Vote It. Save America Now. If we do this and teach our children to do the same, we will put our country back on it's tracks and restore sanity to Washington DC and liberty and prosperity to our home town.

Once you have a government that respects the Constitution again, then you can work on maximizing liberty peace and prosperity and it will actually accomplish something.

great thread. #34 qft.

After enjoying the Thanksgiving respite, Rand is back firing on all cylinders with this, the Detroit speech, and multiple national tv appearances. God bless him and his family.

Can you back up that assertion. Factcheck states that no one is exempted.
