Rand Paul on The Laura Ingraham Show 4/28

I noted that Media Matters and The Huffington Post are already whining about Paul's remarks here, which will further help Rand's chances of getting the GOP nomination.

Would Rand similarly condemn the American revolution because of the colonists' violence against the collective?

Root causes do NOT get discussed. That is why we are here.

It has taken generations of lawlessness to create these situations.

Rand coming out on the side of using all necessary force to put down riots is analogous to the Neocons using whatever force to quell violence in the Middle East.

He should be demanding answers from the President, and the state governor, and the mayor about root causes.

Everybody here is always on about how votings not going to work its going to take revolution to fix the system, until its blacks rioting about the system, then all of a sudden, FUCK THEM! USE FORCE TO UPHOLD THE SYSTEM!

What is wrong with you people.

The rioters are anti-state. They are on our side. They have far greater grievances against the government than any of us have.

You talk as if what they're doing is some sort of principled stand against tyranny. We're talking about the wanton destruction of property, the assaulting of innocent people, and billions of dollars lost. If this is what it takes to be "on our side" I'm out. If the liberty movement stands for mob justice, violence against innocent people, looting, and burning businesses to the ground then I no longer want to be associated with it.

I understand the sentiment, but some of them have shown a disrespect for private property. That has to be weighed into the equation. I would venture that the majority of them are not "anti-state" at all...in fact quite the opposite.

I am in favor of business owners shooting rioters. Anyone who destroys property is not on my side.
.
I'll be sympathetic when I hear those rioters making an argument against minimum wage laws. I am pro-freedom. Noam Chomsky is anti-state.

The root causes are bad economic policies which have encouraged single parent households and welfare dependency. Mises predicted the rise in unwed mothers in the 60's. When you incentivize people to not get married they don't get married.

Anarchy, the destruction of private property, and the infringement on the rights of property owners is in no way "liberty."

There is an urgent and immediate need for a complete and immediate purge from the ranks of all so-called "officers" who think that shaking people down without cause is appropriate, that shooting unarmed people is defensible and that lying about events after the fact, covering up for other officers that commit offenses and a rank refusal by the law to prosecute conduct by cops that would land anyone else behind bars for decades, which appears to be endemic throughout the nation, is something that can or should be tolerated rather than prosecuted as the felonies that they are irrespective of who commits them.

Uhm, I don't see the taking out any grievances against the people that have wronged them. They are destroying and terrorizing their neighbors and local businesses.

"The under classes are not expressing themselves in the way that I want, therefore their plight is not my problem"

This is BULLSHIT people.

They aren't rioting over a lack of Obamacare.

If there is anyone we should be standing up for it is the social classes represented here.

This is madness! What has happened to RPF?! Did everyone lose their minds? We're now comparing senseless rioting with the American Revolution?

Pretty crazy to see so called libertarians come out staunchly opposed to private property rights.

Except that Rand did not and does not support any of those policies (e.g. the welfare state and drug prohibition) which are the underlying cause of of the degeneracy of these people.

He should be demanding answers from the President, and the state governor, and the mayor about root causes.

Or, he (as a human being) should be expressing his utter contempt for this criminal behavior: as he is.

The anarchist idiots that are against peaceful political work are the ones cheering on the rioting mob.

The rioters are anti-state. They are on our side.

Well I didn't say their plight is not my problem. and Randal as senator has been pushing for a LOT of legislative changes that would help alleviate their problems. That does not mean he or we need to look the other way when it comes to destruction of private property. That is bullshit. You want Sen. Paul to take a position that would do nothing but harm his efforts to deal with the root causes? That is bullshit.

No they certainly weren't/aren't.

I have to say, I'm extremely disappointed in the reaction to these events of some self-ascribed libertarians.

There are lots of morons out there ready to cheer on wanton destruction anytime, but to find relatively intelligent people here on the same page is sad.

Idiom, you disappoint me in particular. I always considered you a clever fellow.
