Maybe Nap running with a surprise pick of Ron for VP?!

Napolitano should go on the Supreme Court since he is less political than Mike Lee. Rand will definitely not pick a Ron Paul libertarian for VP. He will balance the ticket because that is what always must be done, especially since Rand will not come from the mainstream of the GOP or the country. I'd say the only opponent he'd pick would be Rubio (if Rubio keeps his standing among conservatives and Hispanics), which would be great because then Rubio could not speak against him and the neocon camp would lose its last great hope. Other good options would be Bobby Jindal and Susana Martinez. The point is, it will be pragmatic.

Rand is not going to pick someone like Rubio who he disagrees with on so many fundamental issues. (I've been critical of some things Rand has done lately, but there's still a night and day difference between him and Rubio on the issues)

They don't disagree on that much. They agree on social issues (Rubio has now said leave it to the states) and fiscal/economic issues. The only major disagreement is civil liberties and foreign policy, which will not be the core of Rand's campaign, and it isn't the core of Rubio's message either. You have to remember that Reagan picked Bush despite the latter having publicly trashed supply-side economics and fiscal conservatism (which was the core of Reagan's campaign). This was because he balanced the ticket and brought in moderates and the establishment.

Those disagreements are huge... Rubio is basically a neocon. There is no question of ever doing a deal with him or putting him on some kind of ticket.

It's called "uniting/balancing the ticket".

I think it's more likely he picks someone like Walker than Rubio.

PAUL WALKER

I don't think the independent vote is a blip anymore.

since when is the independent vote strictly libertarian, lmao. even among libertarians there are plenty of hot button issues, like gmo labeling many people disagree on

If Rand chooses a more establishment VP pick, I guarantee he will go down in flames.

ya you're gonna personally bathe him in flames. if he picks someone as useless as joe biden, it won't matter

If Rand was smart

he is.

Honest question:

Do any black, conservative, republican governors come to mind?

Edit- regarding the Rand VP discussion

Well seeing as how there has only been one black Republican governor ever, good ole P.B.S Pinchback, and he wasn't even elected, I'll answer for everyone with a definitive NO. There have only been four black governors in the history of the U.S.

Napolitano would be completely & utterly wasted as Vice President or a Supreme Court Justice.

As Vice President, the only thing he'd be doing is presiding over rubber-chicken State dinners and attending the funerals of foreign dignitaries.

As a SCOTUS judge, he'd just be on the losing side of all but a few decisions - not enough to make it worthwhile in the big picture.

If he's going to be anything, it should be Attorney General - then and only then would he be in a real position to actually do something.

I hold out virtually no hope that the federal government can ever be reformed "from within" in any significant way. But Andrew Napolitano sitting at the AG's desk would be something to see. He'd have the power to go after corruption, the discretion to stop political persecutions conducted under color of law, and so forth. Damn, it would be a beautiful thing to behold ...

I am curious on who the VP would be though since it is almost certain that Rand is going to run and will probably have to think about it in advance.

Has to be a hot hispanic/black woman ;P?........................

I think if Hillary does not run, Rand would have a lot more leeway.

Could we please get him to announce he's actually running, win some early states and actually win the nomination before we worry about who the VP. I know its fun to speculate but we're years from this being a problem.
