Putin Says Global Warming Is ‘A Fraud’

Whatever the case maybe I think its prudent that the world takes sustainability seriously. There is only so much oil under the ground and only so much land to dump our trash. We have unlimited wants and limited resources. The weather changes, the earth continues to change. People shouldn't be populating areas with limited water resources.

Here we go again ;)

He's right of course.

But what I find especially interesting is that Gorbachev was one of the leading AGW shills in the early days, one of the first watermelons.

...so this suggests a real break between Putin and the old regime.

...which makes me like Putin more.

Gorbachev was responsible for the collapse and dismantling of USSR. I am sure he also had other things on his agenda.

The U.S. expertly exploited Gorbachev’s weakness - http://english.pravda.ru/russia/politics/01-08-2006/83668-gorbachev-0/

Man-made Global Anything 'tis BS.

We're all gonna' freeze in the next ice age.

IMO, Putin is correct, but it still does not end well...

Global warming = ice age. It's simple. Take ice cubes and hold them over a glass of warm water. Heat them up, melting them into the water. Water is now cooler. Now blow air across the top of the glass. Air is cooler.

This is what global warming is doing to the ice caps and the ocean. It's why the winters are getting colder. Last year we had one of the most frigid winters on record here. I had to roll my eyes at all the people sarcastically saying "so much for this global warming" while standing outside in the freezing cold. If only they understood.

We ARE in a major global warming event right now. Thermometers don't lie. Mercury isn't witchcraft.

Is it caused by man? Yes. No. Maybe. Can we do something about it? Absolutely.

Climate change deniers are like spoiled, entitled teenagers. Too lazy to do anything or admit they are wrong.

But they are all experts, of course. Flipping burgers at Micky D's makes them more of a expert than 99.3% of scientists who agree global warming is real. More of an expert than THOUSANDS of scientists who have degrees in climate science from places like Yale, Harvard, and MIT.

Liberals love labels(applied to others), but a picture is worth a thousand words:

What if you created a worse world? What if you violated our rights in the name of a lie? All while the climate heats up anyways.

I don't doubt that global warming is real. Climate change is more often even more extreme throughout history than what we are experiencing now. Even those scientists who blame humans for global warming can't say that we can reverse it. We never had the power to fuel it in the first place. We are not that important in the grand scheme of things.

The sun provides almost ALL heating energy to the earth. Any fluctuations in its surface temperature will cause far greater differences than carbon emmissions from man. Man has a narcissistic view of himself and of his significance on the planet. Little super tiny ribbons of roads and man's puny cities are nothing compared to the size of the planet, and certainly nothing compared to the size and energy of the sun. Right now, sun spots are fading away, and indications are we are on the cusp of a 400 year cycle, and temperatures are about to plummet.

It is no surprise people who live in cities are far more likely to believe in anthropogenic global warming. They are surrounded by cars and factories and houses in a few tiny square miles. People in the country, are surrounded by country thousands of times larger than the city. They have a better perspective of how puny man really is. I've lived in both.

Global warming = ice age. It's simple.

War is peace. Ignorance is strength.

And they weren't saying global warming meant the earth would get cooler 20 years ago. THEY WERE QUITE CLEAR IT WAS GOING TO GET HOTTER. I wasn't born yesterday, and I remember their dire predictions 20 years ago. Guess what? Carbon output far exceeded their predictions, and yet, no dire consequences.

So don't even talk to me like I'm some stupid kid, asshole.

BTW, I did computational fluid dynamics, in airflow and wide area air movement, as a matter of fact, for a company I worked for. When I go hiking, I can see all sorts of things climatologists missed in their models

AND (you little spoiled entitled teenager)

Only two models even incorporate sun surface temperature fluctuation in their models, and when they do... it dwarfs everything else.

Here is the thing, you would think by now, you would know, that when the media and government starts going full blown retard alarmist over something, that it more than likely is a manufactured crisis.

The stupidity of this is beyond reason. You know what is colder than cold water? ICE. Blow air across ICE, it is even COLDER. You need to get out the city more often.

What happened to peak oil? Oil is cheaper than ever. New drilling techniques have increased oil exploration, new fields are still being discovered and some claim that vast fields exist that are known about but located in nature preserves.

You're correct that we should learn to use our resources the best and most efficient way possible - try to use biodegradable materials - try to use renewable energies....but man made global warming is still a scam.

The sun provides almost ALL heating energy to the earth.

Incredibly incorrect.

About half of the earth’s interior energy comes from the radioactive decay of naturally occurring isotopes. In particular, potassium, uranium, and thorium.

And by your logic of the Sun causing all global warming problems, shouldn't the planet Mercury be hotter than the planet Venus?

Any fluctuations in its surface temperature will cause far greater differences than carbon emmissions from man.

You are confusing two entirely different variables. Why are you hotter when you have a blanket on, or clothing? Because those things trap heat. Just as carbon emissions do. Yes, the Sun's temperature plays a role. But the greenhouse effect amplifies it.

Man has a narcissistic view of himself and of his significance on the planet. Little super tiny ribbons of roads and man's puny cities are nothing compared to the size of the planet, and certainly nothing compared to the size and energy of the sun. Man has the ability to greatly effect this planet. Man created nuclear weapons. Simply detonating 1/4 of them would be enough to plummet the earth into a nuclear winter that could last centuries.

I've never lived in the city myself.

Again, thermometers don't lie. They aren't witchcraft.

You are right, some liberal politicians are politicizing the global warming epidemic. That doesn't mean it's not real. Opportunists will try to capitalize on anything, be it true or not.

The stupidity of this is beyond reason. You know what is colder than cold water? ICE. Blow air across ICE, it is even COLDER. You need to get out the city more often.

How much surface volume of the earth does the ice caps encompass? Now the oceans?

Around 39 millions square kilometers for the ice caps.

About 360 million square kilometers for the oceans.

Which cold item is going to effect more of the earth do you think?

Why should we keep relying on oil, when there are for more efficient things out there? I'm a conservative through and through. Shouldn't conservation be part of being a conservative? I don't understand why some of my brethren in the republican party want to keep humanity in the dark ages. What are we afraid of?

Where did this party go wrong? It used to be the big city democrats that were all about big oil, exploiting and raping the land, killing all life in their wake. When I think about oil, I think about the Rockefellers. All democrats.

One of the greatest republicans of the past 150 years - Theodore Roosevelt. He was a huntsman, an explorer, a naturalist, he respected the land. He respected nature and the delicate balance.

Why not use solar or wind or water. I mean really, can you provide one good example why not to? It's far cheaper, far cleaner, far healthier, and near infinite in abundance. It's really a no-brainer.

I'm sorry RPF, but this anti-earth and anti-nature movement is purely a liberal neocon position. A true lover of liberty and a true conservative would conserve. Liberal=More Conservative=Less.

More Oil = Liberal
More Polluting = Liberal
More Big Business Globalization = Liberal
More destruction of the earth = Liberal
More killing = Liberal
More war = Liberal

Why are you talking to me about interior energy?
Just stop dude. Do you really want to embarrass yourself some more? You obviously don't have a clue what you are talking about. Just because you read it on wiki doesn't mean it is relevant. Seriously, I know you are wrong, and I will laugh if you try to press this further because I will enjoy rubbing your face in how ignorant you really are, all the while slamming your opponents as mere "burger flippers", when it is obvious the best you have is forums and wikipedia, and you can't even do that right.

But what I find REALLY fucking amazing, is instead of using your own god damned perceptions from living on this planet, you are going to try to tell me half of the Earth's heat comes from it's interior, when CLEARLY at night, it gets MUCH fucking colder. JESUS CHRIST. You can't interpret data, you obviously aren't a scientist... wait, I AM HAVING DEJA VU! We did this like a year ago, didn't we?

Man has the ability to greatly effect this planet. Man created nuclear weapons. Simply detonating 1/4 of them would be enough to plummet the earth into a nuclear winter that could last centuries.

Over 1500 nuclear weapons have been detonated above ground since Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

Again, thermometers don't lie. They aren't witchcraft.

FFS. I'm not going to get into a graph war with you. This shit happens on Financials boards too. People always want to make a point about a stock, so they just pick whatever point in time on a graph to make their view look real. They'll pick the low point and say "see the stock has been trending up!" or they'll pick a high point and say "look, the stock has been falling for years, it is time it bounced back"

With a geological history of hundreds of millions of years... ..I think trying to mark any trend with 50 years of reliable data at best, is specious and yet another hallmark of human arrogance and narcissism.

Also, thermometers are often in cities, which have been heating gradually, and retain heat more than the country. Yes, it can be witchcraft. Cars in cities and heated houses will make cities warmer than the surrounding countryside, and the more cars and houses in a city, the warmer it will get. And this has only recently been proven, although it should have been obvious.

How much surface volume of the earth does the ice caps encompass? Now the oceans?

LOL!!! I am just going to let you figure out why this is just stupid back peddling.

spoiled, entitled teenagers. Too lazy to do anything or admit they are wrong.

Projection much?

I'm sorry RPF, but this anti-earth and anti-nature movement

I love the earth, and I love nature. But I am not going to start telling everyone the world is going to burn up because of a few fucking cars. I have been across the country. I have walked across mountain ranges, the Earth is HUGE, people are puny, they just think they are bigger than they are. Everything they experience is usually from a car, a plane, or a house in a town. All they know is a carbon dioxide environment. They rarely ever even walk ten miles form a road, to see how tiny roads and cars really are. When they cross the Pacific Ocean, they leave a city full of smog, arrive in a city full of smog, and think, "the whole planet must be covered in smog!" Completely missing the fact that between San Fransisco and Shanghai, there is hardly a single carbon emitter. they also got to cross it in a few hours, almost as if the whole thing didn't even exist. Again, human narcissism. Most people have absolutely 0 perspective how tiny they, and all the other humans they live with are. How insignificant their one or two hour drives a day are, even when combined with everyone else doing it.

Why not use solar or wind or water. I mean really, can you provide one good example why not to? It's far cheaper, far cleaner, far healthier, and near infinite in abundance. It's really a no-brainer.

Its not far cheaper. Manufacturing windmills is difficult. I am all for hydro power, as most of my state is powered by it... but hydro power interrupts other things.

And the project I was doing the CFD was an alternative energy plant. Let's just say, it is not nearly as easy or plausible as people think. We were going to try to build a different kind of solar updraft tower Genius idea... with great side effects. Unfortunately, the only prototype ever built was destroyed by a storm a few years later. Pesky reality and the vastness of nature beats down just about everything.

Windfarms are not very viable because they are usually away from population centers that need the power, and they too often get damaged in storms. Another major problem is they will almost always break down and need to be replaced within twenty years, yet the manufacturing process of a wind tower is expensive.

But it's not the cutting down on pollution I am against. I am ll for cutting down on pollution. It is the INSANE LIES about the future being spread, as well as the carbon exchange credit scheme, as well as the base hypocrisy of those trying to "Stop global warming". A carbon exchange credit scheme will do NOTHING to stop global warming, it will only make the rich richer, because the plebes have the audacity to breathe and drive cars.

It's kind of chilly outside here now. In my house, it's much warmer. I don't have any heaters on. Why is that? Because the heat gets trapped. Just as carbon emissions trap heat. Don't argue they don't. It can be easily tested in a lab. Easily.

(and before you go there - yes, I know having a computer and lightbulbs on cause heat. I actually don't have a computer on right now and no lights, and haven't for a few days. I'm only on my smartphone.)

Over 1500 nuclear weapons have been detonated above ground since Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

Over what time period? I was more or less stating they would all be detonated at once. Sorry that I didn't clarify.

This isn't a war about stocks or money or inconsequential shit. This is a war about our livelihoods, our children's, our grandchildren's, and the place we call home. Data and accuracy matters.

Why do you want so badly the reason for global warming to not be man made or at least affected by man? What do you benefit?

Also, thermometers are often in cities, which have been heating gradually, and retain heat more than the country. Yes, it can be witchcraft. Cars in cities and heated houses will make cities warmer than the surrounding countryside, and the more cars and houses in a city, the warmer it will get. And why is that?

Hmm, because there's more carbon emissions in the city. I think you just pretty much proved my whole point.
