I didn't see a results thread for Puerto Rico so I decided to make one.

Polls should be closing in Puerto Rico in about an hour. Will the results be rolling in or will we know only the delegate count like in the other territories?

This is going to be Romney and Santorum both of whom went there. I don't think we did anything at all there. I'm sure that is why you don't see a thread on it.

I really don't think Santorum will do well at all. The best we can hope for is that Santorum being there nibbles a delegate or two out of Romney's take, but Santorum said some really stupid, moronic, insulting things this past week there.

There is a passionate little contingent of Ron Paul people, but turnout looks to be 150k or so by some estimates, and I don't think there are enough of our folks there to make it interesting :( It's still excellent work by them, especially since they cannot vote in the general.

20 of 23 of Puerto Rico's delegates to the Republican National Convention are bound to the presidential contenders based on the island-wide vote.

If a Presidential candidate receives 50% or more of the vote, that candidate receives all 20 delegates.
Otherwise, the delegates are allocated proportionally. (The threshold is apparently 15%. Rounding rules are not known.).
Delegates are directly elected on the primary ballot and are bound for the 1st ballot at the national convention. Voters may vote for as many as 20 delegates and can split their delegate candidate vote between candidates.

Curiously, they show the three party leadership votes already distributed: 2 to Romney and 1 to... Gingrich?

Well here are the 2008 results:

Dems:

Hillary Rodham Clinton 263,120 68.4%
Barack Obama 121,458 %31.6

Republicans:

McCain 188 90.8% 20 delegates
Huckabee 10 4.8 0
Ron Paul 9 4.3 0

Looks like a heavy democrat leaning island. This is a heavy catholic island (85%!) which is a plus for Newt and Santorum. However Santorum doesn't tend to do well on islands... I suspect Paul and Ginrich will do better than expected but Romney will win it. With 150k voting this time...we could get a lot of independents for Paul. Think Santorum's English comment will hurt him as well (which even Gov. Luis Fortuno noted).

Santorum has been struggling to win a majority of Catholics as well. He's been focusing on the evangelicals.

I hope all the RP supporters go stealth for Romney.

Those look like officials or something that vote early? Still "processing" and 0% reporting.

Just updated and Ron got a vote!

92 - Romney
10 - Santorum
1 - Paul

ETA:

How come Ron has 1% with 1 vote, but Gingrich also has 1% with 0 votes?

Paul can't be allowed to beat out Gingrich.

And the totals still only add up to 99%...

Because you want Romney to wrap it up before Tampa so we can just go on to doing something else? <1144

More like... because Ron is not going to get any Ron Paul delegates out of Puerto Rico, so hopefully some ran as Romney delegates. I don't think this is a realistic scenario, though.

I take it this thread is like solitaire, sort of out of idle boredom?

Romney and Santa WOOED them. Went there. Promised goodies.
