Proof That RP Could Be President? (Koch Brothers Show Some Interest)

If Ron Paul joins them, he's not the man I thought he was.

So what if the Koch brothers help fund Cato? He was obviously picked because he's in an important monetary policy position.

He isn't listed as "Presidential Candidate", he's listed as chairman of the monetary policy committee.

The Koch brothers have polluted the planet for years. Their main interest in politics is to maximize their money.

He is running for President of the entire United States. He has to build coalitions. That does not mean sell out.

He should definitely go.

Representative Ron Paul is never bought by lobbyists, big business, bankers, or donors. He leads with the principles of liberty, and they either get on board with that, or not.

No, those Koch Bros. have polluted mother Earth! Ron Paul doing a conference for one of their organizations invalidates 40 years of work and impugns his character

You are polluting mother earth right now. Do you know how much energy is needed to power this website and to cool the server room?

If he can go on Alex Jones, or sponsor bills with Barney Frank, he can attend Cato's conference. Not everyone at Cato is terrible, you know. Since Mises refuses to be in Washington, D.C., they are the only libertarian organization there. Why not use this venue to open some eyes?

I was making fun of the guy on the other page, thus the rolleyes. I think it's great he's going to speak at Cato. Fantastic news.

If Ron doesn't change his positions, he can be funded by whoever the hell he wants in my opinion.

If we're really still splitting hairs between the CATO and Lew Rockwell crowd we're already screwed.

You may not agree with all of the CATO platform but their ideas are still worlds better than the typical Republican or Democrat platforms.

I'll take a typical CATO libertarian over anyone in Congress not named Paul any day of the week.

Not a big fan of Cato, but other Koch funded organizations are great. Institute for Humane Studies (IHS), Mercatus Center (GMU econ department, pretty much), Students for Liberty (SFL), etc. Some Koch money went to fund Florida State's (currently where I go) Econ department too, which has Benson and Holcombe - two great Austrian/Public Choice economists.

I can't knock the Koch's much. A lot of the previous animosity between the two groups (Mises Institute and Cato/Koch) had more to do with personality disagreements and egos than difference in ideas, and to be frank, a lot of those personalities are now dead. I'll take good information, research, programs, ideas, etc. when they're presented, regardless of the group offering them up.

What is happening so not only do neocon^tea party types hate us but now we fight with other libertarians lol. Anywhere that has the story of what happend between the two groups? We gotta find things in common with other groups to work with so we can win the white house and the work needed beyond that.

Yeah, but he shouldn't eat the food, or drink the water; better bring his own lunch and drink. Remember what happened to Arafat? That poison can be given in such a small dose that it could take a couple of months or a couple years till it kills the person poisoned, and it is totally undetectable.

Enough of this fued between the Mises University crowd and the CATO and Reason crowd. Libertarians can not be fighting among themselves right now. The Koch brothers may have done some questionable things, but they have also given enormous sums to charity and have provided substantial funds for a great many libertarian organizations. IHS, CATO, Reason and others are all fighting the same fight for liberty as us. Ron Paul is never going to trade influence for financial contributions. Everyone knows that. If the Kochs do end up doing something like giving large amounts to Revolution PAC or another Super PAC the PAC would be foolish to return the contribution. The Democrats are talking about raising a billion dollars and the President has the bully pulpit. We are going to need libertarians, Anarcho-Capitalists, constitutional conservatives, classical liberals, and a host of other groups people identify with. The important thing is liberty and Ron Paul will not lose site of that.
