Proof Of God Thread.

I don't know if there is a divine/creator- and I don't claim to know everything.
I look at the cosmos and understand that I don't know shit. This thing is immense and we are learning new stuff all the time. Kind of a clue that there is more to know.
So I stay agnostic, otherwise I eliminate possibilities and keep myself closed minded to all possibilities.

Do you believe that the Battlestar Galactica is out there right now searching for Earth?

NO. And I doubt there is a planet full of smurfs. But there could be a planet with small blue beings and there could be a large space ship of human type creatures looking for a new home.
Are you saying such things can't exist?

Im not saying such a thing cant exist. I am saying that if you claimed the Battlestar Galactica was out there, I dont need absolute knowledge of the universe to disbelieve your claim.

I think you are confused. You think "I dont believe" translates into "Such a thing can not possibly exist"

For instance:

"I dont believe Saddam had WMDs" does not mean "WMDs can not possibly exist in Iraq"

In any practical sense of the word "know", I would feel just fine saying I know smurfs are not real. If you cant, you are just deluding yourself.

Here is your strawman-
Smurfs are an animated cartoon. Its not real.
Niether is battlestar gallactica. They are works of fiction.

But- there could be small blue creatures, and there can be starships roaming space.

SO when you ask an agnostic, "you think smurfs can be real?"
not in the sense of a cartoon. but there isn't anything in biology that prevents creatures from evolving that way.

You are the one with the absolute positions- not me.
Everyone has a different idea of God.
It could be some 100 billion year old faggot zooming around the universe with his magic stick. Odd are its not- but we have no idea what else is out there.

There could be a very advanced race that can create and mold living creatures. We may be able to do that one day.
If we create a living organism, are we not its creator?

So, I prefer to keep the idea open. Not a closed case.

What's the point to life anyway? Everyone might as well kill themselves if there's no point.

You 1st.

I love the fact that when religious fanatics have a glimpse at a godless reality they automatically default to suicide. They can't fathom an existence that doesn't make them "special", or even more egotistic, the "son of god"...

I live everyday in perfect harmony knowing full well that my existence is purely random. And when I die I will more than likely just "fizzle out", no afterlife, no heaven, no pearly gates, nothing. I am okay with that, it's called coming to terms with reality and being true to yourself. After all, if you aren't true to yourself maybe you should do yourself some justice take your own advice. Living a lifetime of lies being placated by the opiate of the masses is no life I'd want to live either.

so is Jesus

I did not say there couldnt be a god. Im just saying I dont believe in one. My position can change at anytime, so long as you give me evidence to justify belief

Big difference here. I didnt ask you if you think they can be real. I asked you if you think they are real.

I dont have an absolute position. My mind can be changed with evidence.

Do you believe in this faggot with a magic stick?

And again, did you apply this standard to WMDs in Iraq? When Bush said there where WMDs, did you believe it?

To worship some dude in the skies who sees everything you do and has a list of 10 things that he doesn't want you to do and if you do those things he will send you to a place full of suffering and fire, but yet he loves you?

Or to rape the infidels women. Depends. lol

Somebody is a Carlin fan :p

When did I ever say "a god cant exist". I am simply stating that I do not believe that one actually does.

Im not asking you if you believe a god can exist. I am asking you if you believe that one actually does exist.

not sure. maybe if you gave a very specific definition of what you mean by the word God, I can give you a better answer.

There are many definitions. Of all the claims on gods made throughout human history, are there any you believe to be true?

or I will just define it as "a supernatural intelligent being who created the physical universe"

I still suspect torchbearer believes that some sort of god exists, he just doesnt believe any of the religious claims about it. This would make him a deist.

"a supernatural intelligent being who created the physical universe"

I'm not sure how I could even begin to test or perceive such a thing.
I haven't sensed anything of the sort. So I haven't experienced the above description through any of my senses.
Though there could be such a thing- I have a feeling if such a thing exist, it is nothing like the fairy tales we have now.
