Proof Of God Thread.

In 1929, you had no evidence that Pluto existed.
The lack of proof didn't make it so.

True. But, claiming Pluto exists with no evidence is hardly a valid argument.

Atheists would be better served to say I see no evidence of god rather than there is no god.

It's the same with both Atheits, and Theists. They think they are more aware then humanity gives them the ability to be.

A god doesn't have to be metaphysical.
It could be the simply a first cause of motion. in that case- it would be physical.
A creator could be another far superior and advance alien race. (not that I think that is likely)
I'm sure you read my discussion with MItts Burns-
God doesn't have to be an invisible man in the sky.
That is just the fairy tale people believe.

A divine force can be the "answer to everything" at the very smallest particle of all atoms.

Who knows?

Black Holes were first conceived in theory before proven with fact.
I think people are doing a disservice to themselves by holding on to old myths.
Old religions were primitive people's way of explaining things they didn't have the science to understand.

I agree with you, I have "beliefs". I believe we are all energy. The use of the term god is what sickens me. It carries presupposed annotations that elude to it being divine in nature. I am against divinity, not our origins being of some energetic event in which we manifested ourselves into matter. How? I don't claim to know. From what I read from your posts, you also share the same thoughts.

You dig my post on our connection to the Sun?
Its obvious that I'm a big fan of Sagan. The Cosmos itself has a spiritual quality about itself. And what is great about it- its all factual and provable.
All that we are and our life and the energy we need to survive comes from our star.

It really does make more sense to worship the sun. not that i worship the sun, but I do recognize its importance to my existance.

If I may inject a new direction in the thread:

I believe sincerely that I am an avatar of what most of you refer to as "God", though I do not call it by that name. To name is to limit, and I believe this universal force is limitless. I believe you are an avatar too. I believe the laptop I am typing on is as well. I believe everything is an avatar of this being, every pebble, every flower, every ant, every mote of dust, and every sum or grouping. I believe "God" did create us in His image, but He is not limited to one image.

Then stop calling it god and call it for what it is, energy.

also, in 2009 you had no evidence that WMDs were in Iraq. In 2009 you are justified in believing that there were no WMDs in Iraq. It makes no difference that someday 20 years from now we may find evidence for WMDs.

they found small quantities of wmds. So technically they were there- just not en mass that would be a problem.
How odd that you should have such a perception that is different than the facts.

Im not talking about small quantities and old mustard gas. I am talking about the large stockpiles that Saddam was ready to unleash on the US.

I do not believe that he ever had them. Even though I will accept the possibility that we may someday discover he did in fact have these large stockpiles.
