Prominent Evangelical David Lane to Take Rand Paul To Israel

IMHO this is the most significant Rand Paul news I've heard in awhile. Lane is big-time. And if he's taking you to Israel, then you are a major player. Rubio should just disband his exploratory committee. LOL

yeah, my first thought was, "wow, he really is going to run"

While I think this may be good news as far as whether Rand Paul's foreign policy experience comes into question, I think it may be jumping the gun too soon to discuss Marco Rubio not running. I know, probably not the optimistic attitude, but remember that we haven't even had Obama's second inauguration yet. Rand Paul is making good moves, what with this and the constant appearances over the airwaves and radio, but let's not discount anything else yet.

What are you talking about? Rubio is an establishment insider. We don't want him.

He has to be very careful with this visit, pander a little too much and he risks losing non evangelical independent minded voters, a group he should easily carry. If it was up to me, I say he stays neutral on this issue. If Israeli officials want to talk to him, they know where his office is, people will have more respect for him if he makes it ever so clear that his devotion is to the US and US alone and not to US citizens whose No 1 priority is the welfare and safety of Israel. Again, if it was left to me, we all start a donation to buy one-way tickets for every single one of em :)

Remember when Rand was running for Senate and met with Kristol and all the big neocons for a meeting? Remember when idiots like Raimondo went apoplectic over it, saying Rand has gone over to the dark side and become a neocon? Remember when we found out what really happened in that meeting, how Rand was trying to convince them of the insanity of our interventionist policies in the middle east?

Don't everybody jump the gun yet...that's all I'm saying...

Didn't he just vote for the latest Iran sanction. You need this type of reaction from people like Justin Raimondo to keep him from straying.

I agree with you on that. There's nothing wrong with holding his feet to the fire.

Yes? Whether people want him doesn't mean he won't run. I'm sure people didn't want Gingrich or Bachmann or Cain or Perry to run, yet they ran anyway. Who we want is fine, but just because folks aren't fold of Rubio does not mean he's going to decide against running.

Because that's more pandering than I can handle to one of the worst countries on the globe.

How?

Why would you go to Israel and not go to the Western Wall? That's like going to San Antonio and not seeing the Alamo.

How big time is Lane? Also notice he's going with prominent Iowa and SC Republicans, which could mean they have made a choice to support him

I don't think Lane is especially famous among grassroots evangelicals. But I think he's politically connected and has some sway with other important people behind the scenes.

He has to be very careful with this visit, pander a little too much and he risks losing non evangelical independent minded voters

I don't really see that downside. He can pander all he wants. He'll win more than he loses.

If I see him at the Wailing Wall, I will NOT vote for him.

It's required in the Constitution.

Article II

Section 1.

The executive power shall be vested in a President of the United States of America. He shall hold his office during the term of four years, and, together with the Vice President, chosen for the same term, be elected, as follows:

Each state shall appoint, in such manner as the Legislature thereof may direct, a number of electors, equal to the whole number of Senators and Representatives to which the State may be entitled in the Congress: but no Senator or Representative, or person holding an office of trust or profit under the United States, shall be appointed an elector.

The electors shall meet in their respective states, and vote by ballot for two persons, of whom one at least shall not be an inhabitant of the same state with themselves. And they shall make a list of all the persons voted for, and of the number of votes for each; which list they shall sign and certify, and transmit sealed to the seat of the government of the United States, directed to the President of the Senate. The President of the Senate shall, in the presence of the Senate and House of Representatives, open all the certificates, and the votes shall then be counted. The person having the greatest number of votes shall be the President, if such number be a majority of the whole number of electors appointed; and if there be more than one who have such majority, and have an equal number of votes, then the House of Representatives shall immediately choose by ballot one of them for President; and if no person have a majority, then from the five highest on the list the said House shall in like manner choose the President. But in choosing the President, the votes shall be taken by States, the representation from each state having one vote; A quorum for this purpose shall consist of a member or members from two thirds of the states, and a majority of all the states shall be necessary to a choice. In every case, after the choice of the President, the person having the greatest number of votes of the electors shall be the Vice President. But if there should remain two or more who have equal votes, the Senate shall choose from them by ballot the Vice President.

The Congress may determine the time of choosing the electors, and the day on which they shall give their votes; which day shall be the same throughout the United States.

No person except a natural born citizen, or a citizen of the United States, at the time of the adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the office of President; neither shall any person be eligible to that office who shall not have attained to the age of thirty five years, and been fourteen Years a resident within the United States. In order to be considered for the office of President, candidates must perform a supplication in the form of a small piece of paper placed into the Western Wall in the city of Jerusalem.

In case of the removal of the President from office, or of his death, resignation, or inability to discharge the powers and duties of the said office, the same shall devolve on the Vice President, and the Congress may by law provide for the case of removal, death, resignation or inability, both of the President and Vice President, declaring what officer shall then act as President, and such officer shall act accordingly, until the disability be removed, or a President shall be elected.

The President shall, at stated times, receive for his services, a compensation, which shall neither be increased nor diminished during the period for which he shall have been elected, and he shall not receive within that period any other emolument from the United States, or any of them.

Before he enter on the execution of his office, he shall take the following oath or affirmation:--"I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States."

I don't have any problem at all with Rand visiting Israel. Diplomacy is a good thing. But, Rand should still be criticized for his vote in favor of sanctions on Iran. Sanctions are not a form of diplomacy.

Well, there it is. I'm completely and utterly washing my hands of this Judas. Tis a sad, sad day.

If I see him at the Wailing Wall, I will NOT vote for him.
That is immature and makes no sense.

Because that's more pandering than I can handle to one of the worst countries on the globe.
Him visiting Israel doesn't bother me. He can visit North Korea for all I care. But pandering pisses me off.
Does it actually change any policy? Is there any tangible legal effect that results in this visit? No, of course not.

Sheesh, people around here need to learn the difference between rhetoric/posturing and actual policy
.

Rand needs to stop following Teh Collins' advice.
lol, it wasn't my idea, but as pointed out in one of the early posts Doug may have had something to do with it. I'll ask him.

That being said it is a brilliant strategic move since it neutralizes any of the "anti-Israel" arguments in a 2016 run.

Did you know that hysteria in women was cured/treated by forceful orgasms.

This thread is full of hysteria, panic, blindness and many other emotional and irrational "stuff".

Visiting wailing wall?????????????? It is a religious site for Christians Muslims and Jews.

Some people on this forum brag how "we" (liberty, constitution people) are more educated , better informed, rational etc. well think again.

Outright stupid and it annoys the hell out of me.

Calm down, take a deep breath and think before you go on a crusade on mere mention of "the word".
