Rand will always be Rand. Calm, thoughtful and gentlemanly. He will probably reiterate to the Israelis that he supports their exercise of sovereignty to defend themselves. But will not subscribe to blank check demands since the U.S. is so hobbled by debt problems. Rand is enough of a statesman to make this point clear.

He was aligned with Rick Perry during the recent primary. Doug Wead was feverishly trying to get Lane to throw his support to Ron Paul, but fell short:

If true, the GOP establishment must be embroiled in a serious bloody internal battle as we speak.

Not surprising, given all the tumult in Tampa.

Hopefully, this move by Rand signals, as you say, that the side of small gov't, fiscal sanity, peace, and individual responsibility is a major participant, and potentially the winner, of that battle.
