Prominent Evangelical David Lane to Take Rand Paul To Israel

What F'ing difference does it make if Rand wants to go to Israel? He (or his benifcators) are paying for it. He's not using our tax dollars. He's making friends with people you need to make friends with if you want to be a serious contender in '16.

Hell go visit Newt's moonbase for all I care its his life. Now if his policies start to change THEN its time to start raising questions.

FR doesn't seem so hostile. Keep it up, Randall! Up the hill we go..

FrankRep is doing a great job on FR posting liberty news articles and winning people over. He's very good at it actually and has avoided pissing them off and getting into heated debates.. I know ive been banned a few times.

Well +rep to FrankRep for doing that and +rep to you two for pointing this out. I may start going on some phony conservative sites I gave up on years ago and start pushing Rand under a different username. It should be an easy sell in a lot of cases. I think I just about convinced one of my neighbors to vote Ron Paul this year even though he hated Dr. Paul's position on Iraq back in 2008. I'm not sure I'll be able to pull over as many democrats to Rand as I did to Ron. (I know of at least 8 who voted for Ron in the primary). My mom might vote for Rand as she voted for Virgil Goode on my recommendation. I pray she'll be around in 2016. :)

Thanks for the info.

This is interesting. Sounds like Lane may be looking for a horse to run against the establishment. Apparently he's not a fan of them either.

There Is A Brutal Civil War In The GOP, And It Looks Like Karl Rove Will Be The First Casualty

Chief among Rove's critics is David Lane, a powerful evangelical kingmaker and conservative operative who organizes briefings between pastors and politicians. In an email obtained by Business Insider, Lane lays out his criticism of Rove and sets the stage clearly for the coming war between the GOP Establishment and the party base.

Lane writes:

Karl Rove presents a different problem -- while [evangelical leaders] are politically naive (from my angle) — Karl is not, he's as shrewd as a serpent.

Karl is far more formidable...in the presidential Republican primary in 12', Karl stepped on Rick Perry and then Newt Gingrich every chance he got — albeit with deceit and sophistication — and elevated Mitt Romney at strategic, crucial points along their way to the Republican nomination — Rove's candidate.

As an example of how sophisticated Rove is…Karl Rove was out raising money to keep Santorum alive until they could kill Newt — Santorum basically ran for Governor of Iowa in 2011, visiting all 99 counties; Santorum, out of Iowa, had no organization, no money and no chance in 2012 to be the Republican nominee; he was only a stalking horse for Mitt Romney — Rove kept Santorum alive until he could kill Rick Perry first, and then Newt Gingrich.

It's instructive to note that Santorum placed 3rd in the South Carolina Presidential Primary the third week of January, and placed 3rd again the next week in Florida — yet Rove [by encouraging GOP donors to donate Santorum] was able to parlay two third place finishes into a $1M shot of money to keep Santorum alive...this is political gamesmanship on a whole other level, plus access to unlimited money.

That FOX News and the The Wall Street Journal worked out a hefty financial contract with Karl Rove is of no concern to me, Karl has every right to be paid well and — like me —participate in the political process. But giving Karl Rove the perch as a neutral analyst and an unbiased observer -- honest broker — when in reality Karl is driven by his desire to enhance his clients and/or personal interests — corrupts the process.

Being whipsawed…[by] Karl Rove & the GOP chieftains and lieutenants has to be dealt with on our way toward 2016.

If I see him at the Wailing Wall, I will NOT vote for him.

LOL. Yeah, that's going to be a problem. But then again, he may need to play the game. What would we do if we were in his shoes?? I'd go along and make a few good photo ops and then let my voting record speak for itself. We'll know soon enough....

Reassert Israel's right to exist and its right to conquest. Imply that Palestine does not have a right to exist or defend itself. Seems pretty status quo

Yeah, stuff like this is why I find it difficult to support Rand. He'll do something great and amazing, and then he'll go do stuff like this.

What? Where did he say any of that besides right to exist? You are putting words in people's mouths.

Oddly enough, although I understand the sentiment, I didn't get that impression that he's just pandering to the pro-Israel crowd or the disgust with Israel. To me, it seems like a genuine learning experience that Lane approached him about and he thought would be a good idea for several reasons, not least of which is his own education and fulfillment. I know many here will scoff, but that's the impression I got.

Paired with his initial votes for, and votes for additional sactions on Iran, no I do not.

So shallow. People are going to have to stop being such perfectionists on here. I mean that. All it is is perfectionism, and nothing in life is perfect. What better choice do we have? Stay at home and cry in our beers? Do SOMETHING. I know you may not like some of Rand's posturing and whatnot, but seriously, why not take a chance? He's the only viable liberty candidate we have. If he's not perfect enough for you, grow up and grow a pair.

Stuff like what? He's going on a diplomatic trip to Israel, and diplomacy is the center point of Ron's foreign policy views.

Is he not meeting the Palestinians too? Not something most Republicans do.
Rand supports a two-state solution.

It's a valuable foreign policy trip, covered by private donations, and he's visiting everyone. He's going to educate himself and give himself international credibility. I have no qualms with the trip.

That's a stretch. If you want to go after Rand's voting record, do it because he voted for sanctions on Iran. Not for a voice vote that he probably wasn't even in the room for.

The sanction votes were both 99-0 and 94-0, or something like that. Not a single 'no' vote. Was there even a rollcall vote, or was it simply a "if no one objects" passage?

Ridiculous. There wasn't even a roll call vote on that bill.

It's "ridiculous" to ignore this":

Confirming Rand Paul's support of this bill was Senator Johnny Isakson of Georgia, who said "I am very pleased that this important piece of legislation passed quickly and unanimously in the Senate today, demonstrating the United States' strong, unwavering commitment to Israel and its security and self-defense."
